Story
Banks is fostered in Ottumwa, Iowa.  Say hello to this handsome and INCREDIBLY sweet boy named Banks. Banks is a male, standard aussie, weighing about 40 lbs and is estimated around 5 years old. Banks is a SWEET boy and would love nothing more than a home with plenty of love and another outgoing dog friend. Banks' first few years were spent with approximately 60 other dogs on a property.  When the man was getting evicted, he gave away all the dogs to random people that arrived to pick one out.  Thankfully, Banks was given to a responsible person that allowed us to take him into rescue. His coat was in rough shape with matting and had to be shaved.  His coat has returned nicely and he looks REMARKABLE. Banks goes to doggie daycare and plays well with many other dogs. Banks will chill after a fair amount of play, chew on antlers or bones. Banks is being fostered with many other dogs and does wonderfully. Banks has great house manners; is crate trained and house trained. While Banks is a little timid and shy, he is SOOO happy and has learned SO MUCH in foster care.  He does seek out pets from his foster home and even gives a few kisses.  He also sleeps in the bed with other dogs and does VERY well being left out in the house. Banks will do best with another outgoing, social dog in the home to take cues from.  Banks does require a physically fenced yard.  Banks is even good with cats.  Little kids may scare Banks, so no children under 10 years of age.   Banks is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccines (including Lyme) and is receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm preventatives for all past and current pets is required to adopt from us.  If you have what it takes to help Banks blossom into the bestest boy, please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, see our adoption fees, and find a link to our adoption application.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.   NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##1850267##

Story
Bernie is being fostered in Henderson, Kentucky. Drumroll please!!!!!  Announcing Bernie the beautiful black tri boy! Bernie is one big, bouncy, boisterous boy!  He loves everyone and everything, including other dogs.  He is young, about 2, and very, very playful.  He loves his toys and loves having his people play with him.  He is quite large and he is overweight but with additional exercise and weight loss kibble he is losing the extra pounds. Bernie weighs about 67 lbs and still needs to lose about 5-10 lbs but for a dog that is a lot so we are taking it slow and steady! Bernie’s original owner had to give him up to enter into a care facility.  He then went to a home where he was kept in the garage.  He probably had a lot of treats, some table food and very little exercise.  When he did go outside, he wandered off, probably looking for companionship.  He is a Velcro dog, so much so that he doesn’t want to go outside unless he knows for sure you are going too. He has quite a fine appetite (but he does not like green beans) and enjoys treats.  He seems to sit automatically when he knows a treat is on its way.  He’s very smart, letting us know he doesn’t like green beans first by carrying out the bowl with only the green beans remaining in it and whining, and the next day by hiding the green beans under the cabinet.  Did we mention that he is smart?  He is a talker and a communicator too.  He responds to some questions with vocalizations.  He asks for things he wants, like rolling onto his back for a belly rub. He is SUCH a ham! He has been in his foster home for three weeks and has never had an accident in the house and when he has been alone in the house for several hours at a time has never damaged anything. He has great house and potty manners!  Probably a master's degree in house manners and could teach others the same! This boy is SMART, SMART, SMART!  He is learning so many fun things in his foster home!  He still jumps up on people when he meets them because he is so excited to see a friend, but is learning not to.  He just wants to play, have fun and that’s what he’s wanting when he puts his paws on you. Because of his size and his age, very young children would probably not be a good match because he could easily knock one over, but children 8+ would probably be fine for him.  If you are ready for a young, enthusiastic, happy dog, please give Bernie your consideration.  He is an absolute gem! Bernie is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tickborne diseases, microchipped and on prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  If Bernie sounds like your next family member, please complete an adoption application today!  Bernie requires a committed adopter who is willing to devote 1 - 2 hours of mental and physical stimulation per day.  Proof of heartworm purchase for any current or past pet is required to adopt.   NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers; we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2086308##

Story
Rocky is fostered in Waterford, MI Yo everybody, its me the champ, ROCKY.  Now that I am a retired from fighting for the ladies - as a breeder release - can you let me be a contender for your heart and see if we can go the distance?  I am a knock-out 2.5 yo blue merle male Australian Shepherd weighing in at approximately 40 lbs.  I have a magnificent mane of floof and heterochromatic eyes to mesmerize my opponents.  I'm currently continuing my training at Camp Haulin Auss in Waterford MI.  Generally, I'm a good boy when  inside...but I have been known to bob and weave to escape a ring (crate).  At times, I can be mischievous if left alone too long, only because I prefer to be with my fans (humans)!  My foster mom (aka trainer) says I'm way too smart for my own good sometimes, cause I'm a really quick study.  She puts me on the ropes though, for walks that is, and I am a gentleman - never pulling and always checking in to see her admiring me and my wiggle butt, cause my bob tail literally never stops going.   Because of my background, I may lack the social graces with other canine residents but after a few weeks at camp (foster home), I am doing GREAT with other dogs. I am particularely fond of practicing with the resident male here in foster camp.  He's a heavyweight brawler, much bigger than me, but I hold my own because I am the ROCKY the champ.  I don't play possum when I'm in the ring (or yard), because I would  prefer to chase them....  yo know, the squirrels, birds and bunnies.  My foster mom calls it a high prey drive, so no feline friends for me. Like any reputable fighter, sometimes I can act like a raging bull in a china shop when I get excited.  Though smaller in stature, I have great strength, so little people (under 10 years of age) are not recommended for me.  I do get pretty excited about my fans and cna win the crowd over by bonding with the big people in the house.  I am a charmer, ya know.     The match is nearly over and you are looking to be saved by the bell!  It's a unanimous decision for you to throw in the towel and make me, ROCKY, the champion of your heart by applying to adopt me today!  Together we can win a lifetime of championship matches and many years of amazing adventures together!   I  am now neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on my vaccinations and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  I am currently seeking my new Trainer and Life Coach (aka adopters).  Is that you??? ##1992564##

Story
Troy is fostered in Columbia, MO area.   This gorgeous boy landed himself in a shelter and was rescued the Memorial Day weekend. Troy is a WONDERFUL dog and we're not sure why he became a stray.  He is a 2 - 3 year old boy, weighing about 45-50 lbs.  Troy was welcomed into his foster home and provided them with hugs, love and affection.  He responded enthusiastically and quickly fell into a routine where he was safe and well fed.  Used to being a bachelor, Troy underwent the required neuter.  Troy loves playing ball, running and going for walks. He is a WELL behaved dog in the home and has good house manners.  He is crate trained and house trained.  Troy learns his commands readily and likes to snuggle toward the end of the day.  He will need an active home, as any young aussie does.  We would recommend some basic obedience to solidify his knowledge of the basic commands.  He will, no doubt, be about the most handsome black tri-colored Aussie in the neighborhood wherever his forever home may be.  Troy is working on walking nicely on a leash as he has a tendency to pull when he's excited.  He also is working on his excitement and tendency to jump.  Both are very trainable issues that any adopter can continue to work on. Troy is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  Proof of heartworm for any current or prior pet is required to addopt from our rescue.  He will require an adopter who is willing to provide mental and physical stimulation every day. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2065781##

Story
Presley is being fostered in Owatonna MN Meet Presley. This sweetheart is a black bi standard Australian Shepherd.  She weighs 48l bs and her  estimated date of birth is 7/1/2019.  Presley originally came into rescue at a wee 6 months old because of a breeder shutdown in southern IL.  She has returned to rescue because her adoptive mom was diagnosed with a medical condition and is unable to care for her.  It has nothing to do with Presley and she only wanted what was best for her.   Presley recently underwent a knee surgery for an ACL tear and now that she is nearly finished with her post-operative care and physical exercises, she is looking for her adoptive home.  Miss Presley is a calm, shy, affectionate pup that loves to be around her person. She is a velcro dog that prefers to have someone around all the time. Presley is timid at first but is quick to warm up to people and other dogs given a little bit of time and, of course, something yummy to eat. She prefers to be around female people as that's what she was used to. She loves to be outside but can gets a bit nervous with new sounds. She would best fit with a calm family - maybe a stay-at-home individual and no young kids.  She would love nothing more than to have a human to be a sidekick to. Presley is super affectionate and LOVES to cuddle. Presley is a bit sound sensitive in her foster home and does spook easy with loud sounds so a fenced in yard is a MUST for her.  She would just love a mom to call her own and would be fine with a dad, as long as he takes to the time to get to know her and is patient with her, giving her all the treats she can handle to feel more comfortable. Presley is potty trained, crate trained and great house manners. She LOVES attention, pets and praise, gets a little jealous of other dogs getting attention around her but loves to play outside with her dog friends in her foster home. Does she sound like your dream girl? She is still an Australian Shepherd, and while she is bit more low key, she still needs daily mental and physical stimulation to truly be happy.  Presley is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases, microchipped and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  If this little lady sounds like your next sidekick, please complete an adoption application by clicking HERE. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2005402##
