Story
GEMMA IS BEING FOSTERED IN BLOOMINGTON IL Meet our precious girl, Gemma, who has MASTERED her puppy dog stare!  Sweet Gemmy NEEDS a hero.  She is a gorgeous black tri female that was found in a stray.  She is approximately 2 years old an is playful with other dogs.  Gemma is a goofy girl, that has a high prey drive, so no kitties, bunnies or other small pets is required for her. However, what she does make up that with providing you with BOUNDLESS cuddles.  She wants nothing more than to spend her time being as close as she can be with her person.  Gemma weighs around 45 lbs, and she is a typical aussie who is active and playful. While she loves a good evening of chilling at home, she equally loves running around the house showing off all her stuffies and squeaky toys!  Gemma is a bit cautious around new people and places, but her foster home has done some nice training work with her in exposing her to new people and new things, providing her with some positive experiences.  She is responding very well to the training and would love to have an adoptive home of her own that would continue this training for her.  She has made TREMENDOUS progress in her foster home, meeting new people, hearing new sounds and experiencing all the world has to offer.  She would do best in a home that is on the quiet side and does not have a lot of visitors.   Gemma is potty trained and crate trained and even puts herself in her kennel at night. She does have excellent house manners and can be left out without any mischief.  Gemma loves toys and bones and shares nicely with her foster brotherr. Fetch and chase are two of her favorite games to play.  Gemma is still learning to enjoy car rides so more positive experiences (pup cups) would be highly recommended.   Gemma is spayed and up-to-date on all shots and preventatives A home without young kids or small animals (cats, bunnies, etc) A physically fenced yard to exercise freely A patient adopter(s) to continue the training and socialization her foster is providing Gemma's WANTS Another social (same sized) dog in the home A quieter home without much coming and going A spot on the couch next to her best friend for life! ##1823568##

Story
Rowdy is being fostered in West Plains, Missouri. Hello potential adopters! Here’s a question for you. Are you ready to adopt your next forever companion, but you don’t want the commitment of raising a puppy.. like all the potty training in winter... or is an adolescent dog too much for you right now?  Then check out our boy Rowdy! Rowdy is a 6-year-old, 46 lb, standard red merlemale with a bobtail. Please don’t be put off by his age! Think of him in terms of a fine wine, or cheese, or steak; all things that are better once they've had time to age!  Rowdy is just like this.  He has aged to perfection. If Rowdy could talk, we would love to hear his story. What we do know is he was living in his loving home, but his owner passed away unexpectedly a short time after they got him. Rowdy can be a little shy when meeting new people but warms up quickly. Once he gets to know you, he will become your Velcro shadow. He wants to be a lapdog and is always ready to cuddle and snuggle! He can be energetic but has a good off switch and is happy to just hang out and relax with his humans. Rowdy lives with two other dogs (females) and does well with them. He enjoys zoomies around the yard, playing with toys, and interactions with his humans. Have another dog, great!  If not, Rowdy would probably enjoy playdates with other dogs instead. Rowdy would love to have a fenced yard so he could have a space to play; especially with you!  Rowdy has one of the goofiest and funniest personalities that has began to shine once e became comfortable in his foster home.  Rowdy is house trained, potty trained, and crate trained. He knows some basic commands and learns quickly. He is food motivated, which is great for training and is eager and willing to learn new things. We do not know how he is with cats. Because of his initial shyness to meeting new people, he would probably do better with adults or older children. Rowdy is looking for a caring and compassionate home that will continue to build his confidence and understand that he is a bit shy when meeting new people! Is that you? He would love someone who enjoys walks, hanging out, challenging him mentally, training, and playing with him. Rowdy’s got lots of love to give and is waiting for his forever home!  If you would love to give this handsome boy a home or just meet him in person and see all that he has to offer, click on Adopt and fill out the application. We would love to hear from you and will be in touch. Rowdy is neutered, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworms for any prior or current pets is required to adopt from our rescue. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2171496##

Story
Shimmer (now called Luna) is fostered in St. Peters, MO (STL MO area).   Hello potential adopters! Do you enjoy all the different phases of the moon at night? How cool would it be to have your own moon to enjoy all the time? Well, you can! Meet our beautiful girl, Luna, whose name translates to moon! Luna is a standard size black tri with a bobtail. She is a young girl at 3 years old and weighs 40 lbs. Luna came into foster as a stray so not a lot is known about her previous experiences or background. Luna has made so much progress learning to live in a home and continues to learn more every day. She lives with other dogs and plays well with them. She also enjoys playing by herself tossing toys around, over and over.  Luna can be a tad skittish with loud noises. We are working with her on her noise sensitivities and she will need her new family to be patient and understanding while continuing her progress. She can be shy meeting new people but she warms up quickly with lots of good food. Once you're friends she loves to be close to you and will be your shadow. Luna is house trained and crate trained. She has gotten into things and counter-surfed in the past, but her foster home continues to work on this. She is learning leash walking skills but she will pull if she smells something good nearby!  She loves walks, car rides, attention from her family, and playing fetch with her foster dad. We do recommend a physically fenced yard for her - a 6 ft privacy fencing would be ideal.  Luna would like a quieter home where she can have time to adjust and the opportunity to become part of your family. Because of her initial shyness with strangers or new people Luna would enjoy a home with adults and older children (12 and up).  Do you think our girl is a match for you? Would you like to chat about or meet her? Click Adopt under her picture and fill out the application. Shimmer is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations.  She is also receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  If you have what Shimmer needs, please visit our website to find out information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application. www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2182294##

Story
Lucky is fostered in Ottumwa, IA. Looking for a lucky charm in your life?  This beauty is just that.  Lucky hasn't always had a great past but she makes up for that in her sweet spirit.  She previously lived in a tent with her former owner until his passing.  She was set to be euthanised by the owner's children who had deemed her mostly feral. Upon being trapped, everyone quickly realized Lucky was simply scared, confused and had just lost everything she ever knew.   After getting settled into her foster home, she has transformed nicely.  Lucky is a middle-aged black tri australian shepherd female, weighing just under 50 lbs. This girl is an absolute sweet, gentle soul.  She can be a little timid and shy  but is definitely learning and being socialized at her foster home. She is potty trained and crate trained.  She does wonderful in the car and she walks very nicely on a leash.  She loves her comfy beds and is happy to be laying on them chewing on a bone.   Lucky is great with dogs of all shapes and sizes.  She is totaly fine with cats.  Lucky even goes to doggie daycare at her foster home. Lucky is not your playful pup. She prefers to sit on the sidelines and watch all the others romping around and having fun.  Lucky has caught onto all the routines at her foster home and is happy to join in when snacks are being passed out.  Lucky is currently taking a joint supplement (NuJoint) and we recommend that her adoptive home continue to provide this (or another brand) to her. Lucky is looking for a quiet adoptive home; one without young children.  She also would prefer someone that could provide ample belly rubs because these are her favorite passtime.  Lucky is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on all vaccinations and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm preventatives for any prior or current pet is required to adopt from our rescue. MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2233739##

Story
Silas is being fostered in Beloit WI Silas is a red tri male standard Australian Shepherd. He is an 8-year-old boy with an incredibly expressive face. His coloring looks like a rich espresso with creamy, caramel bits, and he wears his heart in is eyes. Silas has a very sweet and kind nature. He came to rescue because his family had their 4th child and the baby had allergies to him.  He grew up with small children, ages 5, 3, 1 and newborn. He isn't a high-energy boy, and would love nothing more than to lay next to you with his head on your lap. He's always up for a ride and loves to sit shotgun if you let him. He would make an excellent sidekick.  He has wonderful house manners being fully potty trained, and not a marker. He is also treat motivated and will sit or give a paw if you ask him. He is currently sharing a home with another Aussie and has a tendency to herd his housemate which can lead to frustration. A very submissive friend as a roomie may work, but it may be best if he were an only dog. It seems Silas grew up with a yard to run in, or was trained to walk unleashed as he could use some leash manners. At 50 pounds, he could pull harder than he does which speaks to his gentle nature. He does not show any prey drive and prefers to stay close to his family whether leashed or unleashed. Silas is soft outside and in, and wants nothing more than to love and be loved.  Does he sound like your new sidekick? Silas is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, negative for all tick borne disease and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.   Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Kevin is being fostered in Ferndale MI This stunning young hunk is Kevin.  Don't let his next door cute boyish good looks fool you...this guy has the brains and the good looks!  Kevin is a Mini American Shepherd weighing just 35 lbs. He is a blue merle in color and does have a full tail.  Kevin is a bit of a nervous guy at first; we believe it is due to wearing a shock collar before coming to rescue.  He is a sensitive boy, just like every other Aussie.  His foster parents have been working hard on confidence boosting by using positive reinforcement training and him learning lots of skills and commands, having a very set schedule and routine, and exposing him to the world around him.   This boy is crate and potty trained.  He really likes his crate and that will be a necessity in his forever home because it is his safe space.  He needs daily exercise, we recommend a minimum of 2 hours a day for a young Aussie boy like him.  He rides well in the car and walks well on leash.  Here is what Kevin says about himself: I am a nervous guy at first. Once I warm up I will love you unconditionally! I’m a very affectionate guy who is looking for my forever people who will continue slow introductions and allow infinite kisses. I am great my crate! I know that it’s my safe space and voluntarily settle when it’s time to relax at night with my foster family. I am crated when everyone goes to work or runs errands, I need someone who will keep up my training to teach me my off switch. I love my walkies and am becoming a great running partner! While I don’t need daily run, I do need exercise. A walk around the neighborhood or jog is a must for me and some playtime.  Through a structured schedule and lots of exposure training, I am building my confidence! I know sit, down, shake, stay and am working on leave it! I need a family that will continue to expose me to new places and faces to continue my training and socialization.  I have a rough and tumble play style with other dogs! I love to romp around with my 4 legged foster brother and need to be told when to take a break. What can I say??? I’m still a baby and can’t contain my excitement! I have previously lived with kitty siblings and can coexist with supervision. a dog savvy cat is important for me if there is a cat.  I have been kid tested and find them pretty scary. Family members under the age of 12 are probably not a great match for me. I would do best in a home with older children and someone with Aussie or working dog experience.  I am not the kind of dog for a first time dog owner.   If you’re looking for a lover boy, Kevin is your guy! This sensitive, eager to please, cuddle bug is the perfect match! Kevin is neutered, microchipped, up to date on all vaccinations, negative for all tick borne diseases and receiving monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.
