Story
About PepperPepper is a loving, intelligent, and playful herding dog who is looking for a patient and understanding forever family. Despite his herding breed background, Pepper has a laid-back personality at home, outside of playtime or long walks in outdoors, and enjoys relaxing or soaking up affection from his favorite humans. Pepper was adopted on October 22, 2023, and has been a cherished part of his current family. He’s a naturally sweet boy who adores toys, games, and treats, as well as tummy rubs and quiet adventures. Whether he’s exploring an empty park, sniffing along a quiet trail, or chasing his favorite toys, Pepper’s enthusiasm for the little things in life is contagious. He has an adorable big smile when he’s playing, a sharp nose for exploring, and excellent hearing that keeps him aware of his surroundings. Pepper’s Daily Routine Crate Training: Pepper is crate-trained and very well-behaved when asked to go to his crate. He can relax there for hours when needed. Feeding Habits: Pepper grazes and sometimes needs a little encouragement to finish his meals. He does best with patient humans who understand his quirks, and he never says no to high-value treats! Favorite Activities: Playing with toys, sniffing and exploring new places, receiving tummy rubs, and spending quality time with his people. He loves exploring outdoors and can go on long walks that have plenty of nature for him to sniff and smile through Pepper’s Personality and NeedsPepper is a wonderful companion who warms up quickly to people, but his anxious nature makes him easily overwhelmed by other dogs. He is leash-reactive and will bark when other dogs come near, not out of aggression but from fear and a desire to protect himself. While he’s made progress with training, he will need continued, consistent support from an adopter who is experienced with reactive dogs or willing to learn. Pepper is currently taking Fluoxetine (Prozac) to manage his anxiety. You can consult with a veterinarian to reassess his medication usage or dosage, especially if a more suitable alternative is found or if he no longer requires it after ongoing training contributes to his progress. He thrives in a quiet, low-stress environment where he can decompress and enjoy life without frequent encounters with other dogs. Apartment living has been challenging for him, as he enjoys long walks or time outdoors, so a home with a private yard or in a less dog-heavy area would be ideal. Pepper has no bite history and shows no aggression toward people, but he values his personal space. He prefers not to be touched by strangers, although he has been successfully muzzle-trained to make vet visits and grooming easier. Training and ProgressPepper has worked with professional trainers and a canine behaviorist to address his reactivity and leash manners. While his journey is ongoing, he’s shown great potential with the right guidance. He knows how to walk at a distance from other dogs but struggles when they come too close. With time, love, and patience, Pepper’s confidence can continue to grow. The Perfect Home for PepperPepper will thrive in a calm, understanding home with adopters who are dedicated to continuing his training. A family with no other pets would be the best fit, as Pepper needs space to feel safe and secure. A private yard, quiet neighborhood, or rural setting would be a dream for this sweet boy. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who will bring joy and love to your life, Pepper is ready to meet you.  Ready to Meet Pepper?Pepper’s future family will need to be committed to helping him feel safe and supported, but the bond you’ll share with this special boy will be worth every effort.  Apply for him here: ##1838028##

Story
Meet Bob Tail Bear! He is an adorable 10 -12-week-old puppy, and we think he may be an Australian Shepherd / Lab mix; his cute little nub tail gives him some Aussie Character! Watch Bob Tail's video here: Bob Tail Bear is playful, sweet, curious, and cuddly. He loves to play and then take lots of naps. Eat, sleep, play, repeat - such is puppy life! He loves to play with toys and the bigger dogs in his foster home. He even tries to play with the cranky cat! Bob Tail Bear is still young, so he will need a family that can commit to training, socialization, and all the dedication puppyhood requires. His new family will need to continue with potty and crate training and daily exercise. We require a commitment from adoptive families to crate train their new puppy. When old enough, they will be perfect for going on walks and hikes or showing off around your neighborhood. You will be guaranteed to get lots of kisses in return from your new best friend! This is the feedback we tend to get, although we cannot guarantee perfect health. *To fully vet a dog in the PNW or the NE at many vets it would be upwards of $1,800 just to fix, vaccinate, chip, etc. The adoption fees charged by our rescue do not cover our expenses medically for each animal, but we offset costs with donations. Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs. Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.) • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! We celebrated our 6 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes. Follow our rescue journey through the links below! https://www.threelittlepittiesrescue.org/ https://www.facebook.com/threelittlepittiesrescue https://www.instagram.com/threelittlepittiesrescue *Due to the rising cost of fuel and transportation expenses, there will be an additional $74 surcharge for transport. DISCLAIMER- Breed type is determined based on general appearance and behavioral characteristics, and cannot be guaranteed unless DNA test results or AKC registration were provided at intake.

Story
Y’all heard it straight from our trainer’s mouth…Ella Enchanted is one of the best dog’s he has seen in a long time and someone better scoop her up! Trust us when we say, he doesn’t say that often. She can fit into any pack of dogs, she has a calmer demeanor, very dog friendly, loves the water, enjoys playing with toys, and loves people! If you have a “check list” of what you are looking for in a dog, Ella is going to check off every single one. Watch her video and see for yourself how amazing and perfect she is: https://youtu.be/5Gnk-r2nmJ0?si=A--rkVdbP7wiCqJf Ella Enchanted is a Aussie/lab mix approximately 1 year old and currently weighs 41 lbs. She is the perfect size, not too big, not too small, just the right size. Not only is she the perfect medium size, but have you taken a look at her eyes?! Ella has some of the most captivating eyes we have probably ever seen. It's no wonder her name has "enchanted" in it because her eyes will leave you enchanted. Ella is very dog friendly and there hasn't been a dog that she has met that does not like her. She is SO good that she is even used and an assessment dog at the rescue. Which essentially means she is one of the very first dogs that greets a dog that we know nothing about to help us learn more about the dog coming into our program. She is incredibly respectful and patient with all different types of play styles, tolerant with even the pushiest of dogs, and is a calming comforting presence for even the shyest of dogs. She shares food, toys, and affection so gracefully too. Ella is not overly playful with other dogs, she is more of the hangout and enjoy the nice weather type of girly. When Ella does play, she has a gentle and bouncy play style and from what we have seen, she seems to enjoy playtime with young aloof playful dogs. If you don't have other dogs, that's totally fine! Ella does not need the company of another dog to help her feel comfortable and open up. She is a happy and sweet little lady all on her own and we're sure she wouldn't mind being the center of your world. Ella has also shown that she is comfortable around kitty friends. She met our house cat Biggie and she was so good around him and even shared playtime with him. We do not know if she has ever lived in a home with a cat before, nor can we guarantee things won't change once in a home. We do believe that with slow and proper introductions Ella has the potential to live harmoniously in a home with cats. When it comes to training, Ella is a smart girly and treat motivated. She already knows some basic commands such as sit, is easy to walk on a leash, and she is crate and potty trained. Any future additional training you want to do with Ella will be so easy with her. Not only is eager to please and easy to love, but Ella is fetch superstar and loves to play with toys. She has the best time playing fetch with her people out in the backyard and loves shaking around those stuffy toys. She would be a great companion to have around if you work from home because she is quiet and will entertain herself with toys or snuggle up on the couch and snooze while you get your work done. She would also be a great little adventure buddy as well. She loves to explore and loves the water! So if you like to go explore the trails, take trips to the beach, or even enjoy camping, Ella will be the best pup to keep you company. Due to Ella's easy and adaptable demeanor, there are a lot of different home environments that she would do great in. We can see her living in a home with a backyard and a pool (a kiddie pool will do just fine too), a condo, or even an apartment with adequate exercise. She is naturally a calmer girl so a walk around the neighborhood, or a quick game of fetch will be just fine to keep her happy and healthy. We have not yet seen Ella's with kids yet and we can absolutely test that for you with any age, but we do believe she would make a great family dog. She is so sweet, loving, and gentle that we are pretty certain she will extend that same approach to children. We are willing to test Ella Enchanted with anything you need us to in order to ensure it's a perfect match. We can make anything happen! Just let us know. We travel to WA, UT, OR, ID, VA, PA, OH, NY, CT, VT and Canada (Canadian adopters will need to pick up in Bellingham, WA or Brattleboro, VT for the eastern Canadian border)! Our pups travel in comfort with 24/7 care on our USDA licensed vehicles, including buses and cargo vans. You can join along on our private Facebook event page to follow their adventure, connecting you with other adopters and providing updates throughout their transport journey! You will get to meet your new pup over a video call before signing paperwork, creating a fun and personalized adoption experience! The adoption fee is $825 and includes all vetting (DAPP with booster, Bordetella, Rabies vaccine, multiple broad spectrum deworming treatments, spay/neuter, flea prevention, a 12 month heartworm preventative injectible, heartworm test and treatment if needed, a microchip with free lifetime registration, a high quality nylon Martingale collar, a health certificate deeming the pup healthy for travel, cost of transport*, and priceless years of love and loyal companionship! We have over 15,000 successful adoptions so far and have excellent Google Reviews: https://g.co/kgs/UQ5Pyai We care deeply about making the perfect match between dog and family for long term success. Our rescue has a 2 acre property in Texas where we assess every animal with trainers on staff, we modify behavior as needed, and create individualized behavior plans to help prepare dogs for their future families including crate training, potty training, leash walking, etc. Our fosters are able to attend group trainings and socialization play groups to keep dogs adoption-ready. Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress! Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet. The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue. While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these SPECIAL PERKS: Extensive behavioral testing and information from trainers on our staff to ensure the perfect fit for your family Discounts on Embark DNA test kit- $30 off of Breed ID test & $50 off of Breed ID plus Health test 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion A free private online dog training session with GoodPup, plus low pricing for future sessions 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a delicious PNW based fresh dog meatballs subscription Coupons for a fun visit to Petco 20% off of Dr. Cuddles pet first aid and hygiene solutions Discounted heartworm, flea prevention, and monthly dewormer Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! Did you know that the Greater Houston area faces some of the highest stray and overpopulation rates in the nation? We are a non profit charity. Our goal is simple— to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and by rescuing animals from the streets or overcrowded shelters where euthanasia due to lack of space is often the only option. *** Apply to adopt at: https://greatheartk9.com/finn Additional questions: hello@greatheartk9.com Instagram: @Adoptfinnpdx Finn is a 5 year old ‘mini’ Australian Shepherd. As with his breed, he is full of energy and extremely smart!! His favorite thing is to play fetch. He absolutely loves to learn new things and train. He enjoys putting his brain to work for mealtime with various puzzles and snuffle mats. Finn has challenges on walks with regards to reactivity towards people and dogs and will require continued training. He will also need his adopter to continue working on noise desensitization to triggers. Finn is on behavior modification medications and these will need to be continued for him to thrive. Finn is searching for a special person who is calm, patient and committed to positive reinforcement training. He would do best in a house with a large yard with space from neighbors. Finn’s prey drive has resulted in chasing the household cat - he needs a home with no cats.

Story
Poppy is a 4.5 yr old amazing Australian Sheppard. We got her from High Desert Aussies when she was a puppy, and we are the only owners. It is heartbreaking to create this post as she is a sweet girl, super affectionate, and a loving member of our family. Unfortunately, she has bitten our neighbor's dog a few times. The breeder has said that it isn't abnormal for female Aussies to be territorial with same-sex dogs. Given the strained relationship, however, we need to find her a new home. She is obedient and highly intelligent and is well-acclimated to people and other dogs. We have another dog (male) that she gets along with well, but she is the dominant pet. She is well trained indoors, crates at night, but needs exercise during the day.
