Story
This sweet guy is named Mason. He is a 1 1/2 yr old beagle mix. Mason is always on the lookout for new adventures! He is quite the athlete. This boy can run like the wind, get out of his way when he gets the zoomies! He should have a fenced yard so he can run and play as his beagle nose sometimes leads him where he doesn’t belong. Mason has never met another dog he doesn’t like. He tends to get a little over excited when making friends, he doesn’t care about personal space and some dogs don’t appreciate that. He’s done really well with learning boundaries of the resident dog and those who have visited. I think Mason would do well in a home with a furry friend, he is young and full of energy, so another dog helps with his activity and helps tucker him out. He doesn’t really play with toys, but loves to lay in the yard and chew on a stick. Mason is very food and treat motivated. He learned to sit, shake and lay down quickly. We’re working on “stay” and he’s catching on.  He does do a little counter surfing so I’ve learned to keep good smelling stuff out of his reach. Mason has a little bit of anxiety over a couple things. He doesn’t like being left home all alone. He forgets his potty training and shows his anxiety by going to the bathroom in the house. He wears a belly band to prevent accidents like that. Meeting new people is tough for Mason. He will try to hide when a new person approaches, but it doesn’t take him long to warm up. The meeting kind of has to be on his terms. Once he warms up kids are his favorites. Mason does get car sick but is taking meds now and they are really helping. He loves to go for car rides though. He needs more leash training since his beagle nose likes to sniff out everything and he wants to hurry and find the next new smell. Mason has a regular dog bark, not a beagle bay. He is very affectionate and is a really good kisser! He has come a long way in foster care and I know that with love and patience Mason will be the best dog ever! He has so many more wonderful, goofy traits and we’d like to meet and tell you more about him!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
From a shy breeder dog to a fun, loving, playful pup. What a change she’s made over a short period of time. Chifon loves to be near people almost as much as she loves being near other dogs. She will need to go into a home with another dog she can look up to and help her confidence and security. She is the shadow of the resident dog in her foster home but also runs zoomies alone or plays with the other dog in the home. Chifon loves her toys and carries them around. She also loves Nylabones. She is very food motivated and can’t control herself at feeding time, in a good way though. At nighttime Chifon has to always touch her human. She also does great with the cats in the house. She is still shy around new people but warms up quickly. She’s still working on leash walking but is doing really well. She does get scared when a loud car or a motorcycle drives by, but is getting better with every walk. There are no small children in her foster home. She would probably do best with older kids or kids that will give her space and let Chifon warm up and go to them on her terms. She is a good car rider, just taking in her surroundings. Chifon also does well on her potty training. Overall, she is just an amazing dog that finally gets to be a dog and she’s loving it. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. She can be very silly, especially if playing with stuffed animal toys and tug of war. She is totally fine with all dogs and even kids and cats. She does not overreact to anything except for bunnies. Due to her prey drive with bunnies we would suggest a cat free home for her. Mochi is overall just a joy to have around and spend time with. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Story
Butternut is apretty Beagle pup born 6/22/22 who spent her early months in a breeding environment and was recently released to rescue.  She has the prettiest golden/tan eyes, pretty gray/cream/tan markings, and those ears!  Pictures just don’t do her justice. She is the sweetest, prettiest little girl with an adorable constant tail wag.    Typical of many breeder releases, Butternut was a little timid when we first brought her home, but she quickly learned that humans are pretty great and enjoys being near them.  She especially loves kids and does very well with them. She loves every animal she has ever met, (cats, dogs, chickens) and wriggles with excitement whenever one is near.    She is doing very well with leash training. She would love a fenced yard to run in, but she does very well on a tie out.  In the house, she enjoys exploring.  She can't reach the counter tops, but she definitely tries.  She has been doing great with house training and will potty outside if we bring her out regularly.  She is still pottying on a pad indoors now and then, but has never soiled her crate.   Speaking of her crate, it wasn’t her favorite place at first. But she has learned to “kennel up” on command and doesn’t make a peep once she’s inside.   She sleeps quietly through the night and has been left home in her kennel during the day for up to 6-7 hours without any issue. She doesn't chew on inappropriate things and prefers to always have a toy nearby.    Butternut isn't a fan of being held and carried. She would prefer to crawl next to you when she is ready for snuggles, which is almost all the time. But she'll take pats and hugs anytime. Typical of her breed, she uses her nose a lot.  She is very happy when exploring outside on little sniff walks. Also typical of her breed, she does have a loud hound bark and sometimes howls. However, we haven’t found her to be an excessive barker. Typically, she barks if she’s lonely or if other dogs around her are barking.   If you are looking for a smaller breed that is smart, very loving, medium energy and highly entertaining, Butternut might be the perfect pup for you!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
This is Francis, she’s a Beagle born 12/7/23. Francis has come so far! From not letting us touch her at all the first two weeks to not wanting to let us out of her sight, she is definitely thriving. She loves all cats and wants to play and wrestle with them. Thankfully our cat is quite tolerant of her and likes to play back. She will stop if he yowls to let her know she's getting too rough. She's been around other dogs outside and will be curious for a bit and then ignore them and go about her business. Her favorite person is my boyfriend's 8 year old boy. She adores him! She will stand at the bedroom door when he is sleeping in, chase him all over and doesn't mind in the least when he picks her up in awkward positions and hauls her around. He is actually the reason why she finally warmed up to us. He came to visit for a weekend and that was it, no more shyness with us! Her favorite treat is popcorn - good luck keeping it to yourself and not sharing with her. We like to just throw a handful on the floor so she has to run around eating it... it takes her a little longer to get back to us to beg for more! We're still working on potty training...  though I truly believe the issues are more due to our living arrangement (apartment). If Francis were in a house where she could be kenneled during the day if her people aren't at home she does just fine - with the exception of barking the entire time she is in there when her people are gone. I can't say I blame her - she spent the first four months of her life in a kennel and has learned that life is much better when she can lounge on the couch and play with her cat friend. Francis has gotten to experience fenced in yards and trips up north to the cabin. She has been off leash outside at the cabin and doesn't go too much farther than the boundaries of the yard. I wouldn't suggest trying that though until she is very attached to you! She loves belly rubs and snuggling on the couch. She is still uncertain of new people and is not quick to warm up to others. Mostly that just means that when we have people over, she will go lay down in a corner and watch them.  She is more wary of teenage/young girls. She hasn't done anything (besides barking at them and rumbling a little) but she doesn't want anything to do with them. We suspect that it was a young girl in charge of her in her previous situation and that they perhaps weren't very nice to her. We’ve been calling her Daisy and she responds to it. She will be wary of you when you first get her, but with patience, she will warm up and be the best, snuggliest dog you could ask for!  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
