Story
"Melody is a lovely girl with lots of love to give. She is friendly, affectionate, loyal, playful, smart, curious, funny, athletic and quiet all in one! She is a very dignified dog but can be a bit of a couch potato too, and she definitely loves her doggie kisses. Melody is a lovely, unique girl and I'm sure she will bring lots of joy to her new owners. She came into rescue with her 4 babies and was a wonderful mom. She just completed heartworm treatment and is a happy girl. She gets along with other dogs but would love to be the only dog in the home so that she can receive all the love and attention from her new family. She is a very special girl and all she needs if to find the right home." Melody is two and a half years old, weighs 52#, is spayed, vaccinated, wormed, microchipped and on heartworm and flea prevention. Her adoption fee is 400.00

Pongo was found by our AACO tied to a tree in the woods. Someone hiking reported a woman walking into woods with a white dog and then leaving with out the dog. He was very scared at first and is a little shy when he first meets a new face but quickly warms up and loves attention. Please if interested, fill out online adoption form at www.fobac.org and you can also call the shelter at 860-828-7055

Story
Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited or wants something (we now know that comes from the Boxer in her). Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs 70 pounds. Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. We don't know why Gypsy has not been adopted yet. She is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog I have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy normally does well with all dogs but gets along best with male dogs. She would also prefer a home without annoying toy dogs or puppies that get in her face. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. Gypsy is smart and might benefit from more obedience training from someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is a sweet dog. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy must be in the house as a loved family member. She must be walked on a leash and have a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. She is now heartworm-free and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gypsy is located in Texas but can be transported after she is adopted. Her adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to Glastonbury, Danbury, or Lisbon CT. APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application/ We must have an application to move forward. (Shayne's Rescue is an affiliate with PetCentralSATX). If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. SCOOBY is a big boy...at least 60#. His estimated DOB is 1/5/2020...so he is almost 4 yrs old. He is a very FUN dog and loves playing with other dogs but he is exuberant and easily intimidates smaller dogs. He would be a great companion dog for a large breed dog. He loves everyone and just wants to play. He has not had in-house training...in a shelter with lots of dogs, the big ones don't necessarily get the royal treatment. He has been leash-trained and loves to go on walks. After he get rid of the initial excitement about going out, he walks gently on the leash. I do not trust him with a cat. If it runs, he will chase. He sees them as lots of fun. Scooby would be great with a family with older children. Smaller ones would probably get knocked down during playtime. He needs a home with large back yard, I would not recommend him for an apartment. Check out our YouTube Video: https://youtu.be/KD9BUCFmQCs This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. If you have any questions or would like an e-mail from us as to how all of this works, text me (Terry); identify the dog's name and give me your email address... 210-394-6060. You can also go to our Facebook page... https://www.facebook.com/Pet-Central-SATX-866684826744181/ and LIKE us to help us out. After we review your application, we will contact you, and you'll have the opportunity to find out more from the rescue. If you experience any issues filling out the application you can contact us directly at petcentralsatx@gmail.com. This is ONLY if you have problems applying. If you have not applied, you will not receive a response so please only email if you have any issues applying. Adoption Fees The adoption fee includes transportation to the NE. All pups and dogs are fully vetted, spayed/neutered, microchipped, dewormed, have a negative heart worm test for all dogs over 6 months at time of transport, have a health certificate, and have all age-appropriate vaccinations. Some dogs/pups have additional medical, including but not limited to FHO, ACL, hernias, dental, and other vetting. All medical records will be provided to the adopter at the time they pick up their dog. This is a post on behalf of Pet Central SATX Rescue, headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, where there are over 350,000 homeless pets. We have hundreds of puppies/dogs available so there really is no need to apply anywhere else. Also, one application is good even if you are interested in several different dogs...one application no matter which one you choose. Thank you for choosing to adopt a rescue pup/dog. We firmly believe there is NO breed other than "rescue" for all species. Thank you for being part of the village it takes to save these precious lives.

Story
Name: Andy Nicknames: Andrew (in your sternest, most serious parent voice) Sex: Male Breed: Boxer Age: 6 years Weight: 60 lbs. Before OMD: Found himself (as a stray) at the city shelter with a large, uncomfortable growth hanging off his back end. We picked him up from the shelter, got him straight to our vet, and had the growth removed and biopsied which came back as benign! Energy level: Intermittent high. He’ll play fetch until your arms fall off, is always up for a game of tug, and will walk forever. He’s also thrilled when it’s time to relax and he’ll cozy up to you on the couch. Descriptors: Bouncy. Wiggly. Snorty. Playful. Snuggly. Friendly. Clingy. Moonlights as: A soulful lounge singer! He loves to show off his vocal range when he needs to go outside, wants a snack, wants inside, wants your attention, or wants anything for that matter. Velcro level: Off the charts. He loves to rest his head in your lap whenever he gets the chance and will nudge you for pets. If someone gives him an ounce of attention, he’s already planning the wedding and ready to ride off in the sunset together. His favorite things: People. Dogs. Mealtime. Treats. Toys. Chasing squirrels/birds/neighborhood cats. Pulling every single toy out of the toy basket. Saying hello to all the people. Doesn’t love: Being home alone; away from his people. Guilty of: Frequent, audible flatulence. What makes us laugh: Have you ever almost run into something while walking and looking down at your phone? Well, that’s Andy during a walk, except he doesn’t have a phone. He just looks one way and walks the other and that sometimes results in running into a tree, fence, the person walking him, etc. Also: when he is “woo wooing” his paws come off the ground ever so slightly. Knows: Sit. Working on Leave It command. Working on: Four on the floor. Walking in a straighter line and pulling less while on leash. Not counter surfing, but tbh he’s not really working on this one, so the humans will need to be vigilant. Dogs: He’d be thrilled with another dog friend to play with. Currently fostered with a female Boxer. Cats: Unknown. Kids: Sturdy ones due to his jumping. House-trained: Yes, but will sometimes have accidents when home alone and/or crated. Crate-trained: Work in progress. He is definitely not a fan and will let you know, but we are working on positive association. Andy is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. He is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org.

Story
Name: Jovie Nickname: JoJo Breed: Boxer Age: ~1.5 years Weight: 50 lbs Sex: Female Before OMD: Found as a stray and completed her mandatory stay at the city shelter. We were able to bring her into rescue when a committed foster opened up her home. Energy level: High. She’s a young Boxer (IYKYK) – very much an active girl with a very curious mind. Descriptors: A very Boxer-y Boxer…..Playful. Friendly. Active. Curious. Sweet. Silly. Naughty. Cuddler (when tired out)… Did we mention active? What makes us laugh: Her hilarious facial expressions. When she tosses her toys in the yard way up high and runs zoomies all by herself. The way she antagonizes her lazy foster sister when she refuses to play. What we love most: Her sweet and loving demeanor. Her emotional support food bowl that she proudly carries around after every meal. When she FINALLY plops down for a nap. What she loves most: Playing with her toys. Playing with her foster sister. Playing with her human. Playing with anything that moves…or doesn’t. Being right with her human (and also vocalizing her disdain when alone). Car rides. Doggie daycare. Carrying her babies or bowl around. Antagonizing her foster sister. Walks. Treats. Digging holes. Chewing….shoes, cords, tissues, unattended wood items, etc. Disrupting her human’s shower time by sticking her head in for a “face bath” and then being blow dried after said bath. Mischievous level: She makes the devil say “oh crap, she’s up!” Working on: Jumping on people when excited. Jumping at the front windows when she sees birds, squirrels, other dogs etc. Apartment friendliness: Zilch. She is a vocal lady, especially when left alone. Manners: Getting there. She just finished seven weeks of obedience training and she is a work in progress. She does great on leash with heel, sit, and turn. She's still getting the hang of down, stay, come, finish. She is also working on overexcitement/reactiveness on leash when she sees something (ie: dog) she is excited about. Kids: Older, study kids only. She is too bouncy for little ones. Dogs: Yes! She is fostered with four other dogs and has done daycare. Any dog siblings in her forever home should be medium-large, sturdy, and tolerant. She is a little too unaware and careless for little dogs, and a little too “annoying loud sister” for non-tolerant dogs. Cats: No. We do not think this would go well at all. House-trained: Yep! She just has to learn the routine. Crate-trained: Ehhh…she does not like the crate and she will absolutely tell you about it, but she needs to be crated when home alone due to the aforementioned mischievousness. Ideal home: An active, fun-loving, yet patient family. Someone who is home more often than not and will continue her training and socialization. Another playful dog would be a big plus. Jovie is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents of Connecticut and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org

Story
Layla ðŸ\x90¾â\x9D¤ï¸\x8FThis lovely 4 year old lady has been here at our shelter since 2021(half of her life), and has been looking for a place to call home ever since. She doesn't understand why no one seems to want to provide her the home she deserves. Layla considers herself a lap dog that wants nothing but to be laying next to you and enjoying your attention or playing ball with you outside. Layla also LOVES water! Although, she loves her people so much more that she doesn't quite enjoy sharing and may not like the other furry pets that might try to take you away, so its important that this girl is your one and only. But with the amount of love she has to give, she's all you'll ever need! This girl is also so smart that she'll know you'll want her to sit even before you ask. With an extremely treat motivated pup like Layla, teaching her your routine will be easy-peezy.Layla is very particular about where she does her business and needs a little guidance on her potty training, and can also have some separation anxiety when her people aren't around, so it's important to find her a family that is willing to take the time and commitment to continue her training. She can have a lot of happy puppy energy and doesn't quite understand her size compared to smaller humans, therefore she would be best suited for older children. If you're interested in adopting or fostering this pretty lady, please fill out an application on our website. Layla is UTD on her shots, spayed, and microchipped.https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=meridenhumanesociety&method=online_form_html&formid=27

Name: LadyBreed: Hound MixAge: 3 years oldCats: NoDogs: NoKids: NoOur lovely Lady is searching for her forever home! At an estimated 3 years old, this sweet girl hasn’t had the best start in life. Lady was found roaming by a local animal control and sat waiting for her person to come for her but sadly, they never did. Lady was apprehensive to human touch at first but has made huge strides in learning to trust humans and that affection is okay. Sometimes a bit too much as she likes to be real close and in the laps of the people she loves the most! While she has come a long way in her time with us, Lady is still working on some trust issues with new humans and will require a special person who is willing to put the time and effort into coming and working build a bond with her.More about Lady, she loves her walks and quiet time in our expen away from the other pups. She’s also quite the fan of chasing down tennis balls, and loves her true chew treats! No other animals for Lady, as she has high prey drive. No kids as she prefers an adult only home. Lady is microchipped, utd on her vaccinations, and is spayed. If you think you can give Lady the forever home she longs for, please apply today!

Story
Meet our very sweet and petite girl named Puddin! Puddin is about 1 year old, and she came to our shelter after she was found roaming on the side of the turnpike. She is a very friendly puppy who absolutely loves getting attention from people! When Puddin is outside of her kennel in our backyard, she is a silly girl who likes to play with toys. She is not overly energetic and likes to lounge in the sun chewing on a toy. She is food motivated and already knows how to sit and give paw. Puddin gets uncomfortable around other dogs, so we are looking for a home where she can be your only dog. She has tested well with cats. Puddin can go to a home with children 10 years old and older who have dog experience. Puddin will need to be walked on a harness that does not pull on her throat. For some reason when collars pull directly against her throat, it causes her to gag. Otherwise she is a happy girl who likes to be with people! If you are interested in adopting Puddin, Please Email us at Adopt@savingpawsct.org for an application! Her adoption fee is $75.00. MAC IS OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK (M-F 8-4pm) (Sat-Sun 10-4pm) Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. Appts to meet dogs can made to suit your schedule, please email/call for an appt. We do prefer to be contacted by email for adoption inquiries at Adopt@savingpawsct.org. The office phone number is 203-235-4179. Leave a message, and someone will call you back promptly. PLEASE CHECK YOUR EMAIL SPAM FOLDER! You must be 21 years of age to adopt with valid ID. There is a short application for adoption, however if you do not own your home, or you own a condo, we must speak with your landlord or housing association giving permission to dogs/cats. Bully breed specific permission is required if you rent or own a condo. If you own your home, proof of home ownership is required. If there are other pets in the home they must be licensed (if a dog) and up to date on vaccinations. If there is another dog in the home a dog interaction must be done at the shelter before adoption, to ensure the safety and well being of all pets. All children in the home need to be declared and brought down to meet the animal. Applications must be submitted and approved BEFORE a meet and greet can be scheduled to meet an animal. An approved application does not guarantee an adoption. We do not hold animals for meet and greet appointments. ALL ANIMALS ARE SPAYED AND NEUTERED BEFORE THEY GO HOME.
