Story
Po is a playful 2yo Bully/Boxer mix, with all the goofy, silly traits of a Boxer and all the tender, snuggling of a Bully. He loves to play but he will never miss a chance to curl up on your lap for a nap. He is medium energy, and one good walk a day full of sniffing keeps him fit and happy. He has done great with our small pack of dogs, but does have a protective streak when new dogs approach his territory. We took in his brother as a pup, and were contacted when Po’s initial situation soured and have fostered him for over a year. We love him, but are at canine capacity and would love for Po to have his very own forever home.

Story
Update 6.1.24 Zeke has enjoyed being outside the last few weeks with the nice weather, he has no problem going out when it is raining, wiping him off is a challenge though since he doesn't like being touched. He gets the zoomies when he comes in from outside sometimes, that is usually a sign that he has pooped. Him and our resident boxer like to play keep away, it is usually him chasing and eventually getting the toy.  Between 9-9:30 pm  he has had enough and whines to go outside and will typically put himself in his kennel letting you know that it is bedtime, although he currently is curled up in the dog bed occasionally whining because he thinks he should be in his kennel but for some reason he won't put himself to bed. My husband says that he really likes his walks and that he really only whines when he wants/needs something.    Things are going well here.  Zeke is a really good dog that is looking for his forever home.  He is a curious boy with all the Boxer attitude, and is sweet and playful and does well with our other dogs.  He loves his toys and is learning how to fetch.  The cat is not an issue for him so a home with a cat could work just fine. He is vocal when he plays and loves to play hard like a typical Boxer. Zeke loves his kennel and puts himself to bed when he is tired.  He loves to ride in the car, is independent and food and treat motivated.  He is housebroken. He isn't a fan of being touched when he's sleeping - he'll grumble and walk away. We have only had him for a few days and he is doing great.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 18, 2024, 4:35 pm

Story
Update 8.1.24 Dolly the Boxer! Dolly is the perfect little buddy for people who love dogs and want that wiggle butt greeting you when you come home, but aren’t down for the challenge of raising a puppy or of training a younger dog. Bonus: She lets you sleep-in in the morning!   Dolly is believed to have been a former “mill mama”/breeder and has had a difficult life but you couldn’t tell it from her personality. One of the most affectionate and sweet dogs/boxers I’ve ever cared for, Dolly is content to lay on the couch with you or will follow you around and help you with whatever projects you’re working on. She loves attention and being petted andtalked to, telling her what a good girl she is. Despite what is in her past, she still has the basic Boxer instincts of sweetness, sensitivity, loving people, and wanting to please you. Dolly is healthy, doesn’t appear to have any allergies, is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Dolly will reluctantly go in her kennel but seems fine once she’s in it. I’ve left her out alone forshort periods and she has done just fine. She happily sleeps in her own bed at night in your room but would also sleep on the bed with you if you’d let her! She is potty trained but I’mtraining her to signal us with a jingle bell as well. She loves food and treats (is motivated to learn with treats) and will definitely watch you eat but she’s well-mannered and I haven’t found her to be food protective at all (I’ve had to stick my hand in her mouth to see what she found on the floor and she didn’t resist). She also lets me pick her up and lets me clip her nails!   After being a mill dog - and who knows what else she’s been through - she is dog reactive, so she would need to be the only dog in the home and she is also very interested in the local rabbit population so a fenced in yard would be ideal. She is all of the best parts of a dog and a boxer and will make a snuggly (and wiggly) addition to your family!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 18, 2024, 4:35 pm

Story
Hello! My name is Dallas and I am from Texas. A few things to know about me – I spent most of my life in a quiet, single owner home and then lived outside by myself for 2 years. Given this, I prefer a quiet and calm home to share with an owner or two. I will do best in a home without kids as their energy is stressful and upsetting for me. I would like someone to follow around, sit with the couch and just be with me. I am a big talker :) I do have a loud bark and I will respond if you ask me questions. But I don't bark at the mailman, garbage trucks or people. I would just like to express myself and have a conversation. I love everything soft: couches, blankets, pillows and beds! I snore like a little piggy and my Mom says its adorable. Stuffed animals are my absolute favorite and I will bring one to bed with me each night to snuggle with. They are my security blanket. I enjoy playing tug and with my stuffies and then I will take a hard snooze. I am fully potty trained and will wait patiently for someone to take me out. I have never had an accident in the house. I am learning what treats are, but I don’t beg. When my family is eating supper, I find a comfy place on the couch to snooze until they are done. I have some calluses from sleeping on hard surfaces in Texas, but my Mom is helping me and putting coconut oil on them and I like that massage. I had a broken front leg when I was a puppy that didn’t really heal the best so I am careful with this leg. But it doesn’t stop me from going for walks or getting up onto the couch to snuggle. I do take daily meds to help with the pain and stiffness. I would love to find a quiet, calm home to retire in with lots of comfy places for me to sleep.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 18, 2024, 4:35 pm

Story
Update 7.28.24   Rip now has an Alcatraz style crate. Within a few days he went from barking and trying to get out to just whining. Now- he will go in there on command and only whines when we are still within the home. So much progress!!!   Rip has a hard time with strangers. He growls, barks, and jumps at people on walks, and people who come to the door- kids included. When we took him to the vet it took him until the end of the visit to warm up to the vet and the techs. He seems to just need more time to warm up to people.   Rip is feeling extra comfortable in our home now, so we are seeing more jumping up to get our food, climbing our kitchen chairs to get to food. He takes a little longer to get down than he did when he arrived, but he eventually follows the commands.   Rip has mastered “sit” in the house, but we are still working on it on our “working walks”. He is so amazing with our kids but plays rough with adults and sometimes his play can be confused with “aggression”. We are working on appropriate play but it is hard to follow through with 3 young kids in the home.  Rip is the sweetest and most gorgeous boy. He is so good with our kids and they love him so much. He is very attached to us and follows us around during our daily routines. One of our favorite things that he does is help with our bedtime routine for our 3 kids.  He goes into their rooms and fluffs up their pillows to get comfy and lay there while we are brushing teeth and reading bedtime stories. He gives multiple kisses and snuggles before heading to the next kid’s room. The other adorable thing he does is steal our shoes when we get home. After we get him out of his crate, he goes into our mudroom, takes one of our shoes and brings it to his bed.  It’s like his cute way of telling us we can’t leave again if he has our shoes.    Rip is an amazing dog with so much love to give! He's great with kids, but he would thrive in a home with older children, children that are in full time school, or a quieter environment where he can focus on his training. Rip is working on his leash manners and doorbell greetings, and he could benefit from a home with less foot traffic and fewer distractions such as the doorbell. He is crate-trained and does well when crated before guests arrive. With the right family and environment, Rip will be an incredible companion!      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 18, 2024, 4:35 pm

Story
Pupdate 7.19.24   Hi!  I am Lawrence!  I am a super loving, high energy boy that just loves my humans and to play  play   play  with another dog!  I am crate trained and love the bed that my foster mom put in my crate – sometimes she evens finds me just laying in there when I wasn’t even asked too! I  LOVE squeaky tennis balls  and playing  fetch , although af ter a few times chasing it I would rather just roll around on the ground with it!  I love  bones ,  chews & treats too!  I sit so good and wait my turn for my treat!  I eat at the same time as my foster brother and show no signs of food aggression and I do love my food – I inhale it! I do pretty good on a gentle - leader harness when going for  a  walk but I get spooked when I hear a sudden noise, like a car door shut or a louder vehicle.  Sudden noises seem to make me scared and my foster mom thinks I may have some anxiety but she has been working with me to calm down  by  getting to my level and talking calmly assuring me everything is ok.  Did I mention  that  I love hugs and just being loved on!?! I  understand  basic commands and listen pretty well !  My foster mom usually just ha s  to double clap and say ahh  ahh   or my name  and I listen  and run to her … and sometimes  I  even sit!   And  I love to lay at your feet while you are busy doing things or working at your desk , I just love to follow my humans everywhere. I am looking for a home with humans that I will get to love and another higher energy dog to play with and if you have kids I will love them too (but probably a little older kids because I’m a high energy boy)!   I love toys and have been known to want to steal a toy from my foster sister and she got pretty mad at me, yikes I didn’t know  I couldn’t chase her ball too !   I really am a wonderful boy, my foster mom loves me so much but I am just too much energy for her 2 resident senior dogs and she knows the best thing for me is to go to a home where I will have a playmate more my energy level.    From Lawrence’s foster mom:  I absolutely love this boy and it breaks my heart to not be able to make him a permanent addition to my family.  He is a stellar young man, a great ambassador for the boxer  breed  and I know that he will love his new family more than they could ever imagine Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 18, 2024, 4:35 pm
