Story
From the Foster: Ajax is a gentle, sweet guy approaching 9 years old. He requires moderate levels of daily exercise and has pep in his step! His favorite activity is fetching his rubber ball in the yard. He is a solid guy that might pull a little on walks to sniff something special so the handler must be strong enough to redirect him. Ajax is indifferent to other dogs, he will walk past them with barely a look. In our home, he is very respectful of our grumpy 11 year old small dog and they basically ignore each other. Ajax has recently begun a veterinary prescribed weight loss plan with the goal of losing 13 pounds to get him to his ideal 53 pound size. This will require a potential adopter to feed twice daily at the prescribed quantities and limit treats during the day. He has been doing great on this plan and enjoys hugs and "good boy" pets rather than treats anyway! He is very much motivated by food and will lay in the kitchen watching intently while the humans are preparing food however, he does not beg or try to jump up. Ajax will thrive best in a home where the humans are home most of the day. He would be a great companion to empty nesters, retired and work from home parents that enjoy multiple daily walks to keep him stimulated. He is a quiet dog and only barks as appropriate to alert us to a delivery van, someone at the door, unusual noises, thunder/lightning. He follows us around the home often throughout the day and has displayed a little anxiety/panic whining when he is left alone for short periods but hoping this improves once he's been here longer and more comfortable in his new environment. He has a few old guy "lumps and bumps" on his belly but all have been tested and nothing of concern. Ajax is taking a daily joint supplement Dasuquin for joint health as he ages. This supplement can be purchased at pet stores and over the counter. Ajax is not tested with Cats and it is unknown if he is crate trained. He is a champ at going to bed and sleeps quietly on his orthopedic bed for a solid 8 hours until his humans get up.

Story
Hi! I'm Red. I'm from Missouri. From his foster: Hi! I'm Red. I'm from Missouri. My people call me Ol' Red or Shredder. I have gotten pretty comfy in my foster home pretty fast- its been about two weeks. Before this I was in another foster home for about a month that I also liked but they had to get some work done on their home so I found a new spot. You can see what they had to say about me at the bottom! So far in my new home I have gotten to know a cat- she doesnt really like me or want me around but she mostly lets me live. After a few kinna scary boops I have learned to give her her space (once I just turned around into the corner to hide.. shes small but feisty O_O) . Most days I: wait patiently (and silently!) for my foster mom to get up. Then we go for a little spin around the block so I can sniff everything, pee in many places, etc. When we come in from outside I am learning to wait for my ma to take my harness off. I usually go right into working on one of my toys or wait for food in my snufflemat. My nickname is Shredder because I LOVE to shred a toy, find all the squeakers and remove all the stuffing. It is my main hobby. I have never tried to shred something that wasnt mine tho! After playing with toys I like to lay on the couch and snore for hours or snuggle next to the nearest human. I am surprisingly good at going back to my own work when people have food around me- I seem to know the word No in a stern voice. I might know my name too, but we're not certain yet. Eventually we go on more short strolls, 20 mins is kind of my max. Then I repeat the mornings activities. I take an omega supplement right now because people have said my back legs seem a little arthritic, but I seem to be doing well right now. I don't mind eating my pill twice a day with some accompanying treats. When my foster mom is at work, out of the house, or doing things where she can't watch me, I go in my crate. I dont like to go in on my own, but when she tosses some treats in it I do. And then I'm pretty much just silent and chilling till it's time to go out again. Right now I always go outside when I come out of my crate, especially cause I love marking around town. However, I've only had two smoll accidents in the house since getting here- one peeing on the literal human toilet (so close) and the other on my first day while getting the lay of the land I found the thing the cat loves to rub her face on so, obviously. I love being in the presence of my person, sitting next to (or on) them on the couch, following them from room to room etc. On walks I love to meet new people and dogs, so I can sometimes put the brakes on if I don't get to (which is most of the time). I am particularly interested in people working and in cars. I am getting faster at moving along when told to. I love pets and scratches, and although I have some signs of wear (lol) I am only particular about touch when it comes to my rear feet/toes. Overall, I'm a sweet easy going guy who just wants someone to love and hangout with, perhaps a sibling??, toys to shred, and some strolls. From his current foster: I could have easily foster failed Red already because he is lovable, sweet, easy going, and silly. I do think however that he would love a home with less stairs as he ages (he does great on them right now, but ours are tall steep and uncarpeted :/) and I think he would love another similar age/activity level dog to live, play and relax with. From his previous foster: Red is a super sweet and affectionate boxer bulldog mix. He is good with people and other dogs, but we are not sure about cats. Red is very quiet and so far hasn't reacted when people have come inside the home. He doesn't need much exercise; a few 5 - 10 minute walks per day, or a few times outside each day in a fenced yard are enough. For these reasons, he would probably do well in any type of home environment. He is very friendly and insistent on approaching people and other dogs on walks, so we are working on his leash manners. Red is very treat motivated, so he will need to continue his training with treats on hand. Red is crate trained, potty trained, and he loves going on car rides. Red can be a little stubborn on walks when a person or another dog catches his attention. He also tires quickly on his walks, especially when it is warm outside

Hi! I'm Honey. From her foster: 10 Days In... Honey is the sweetest girl She loves to cuddle on the couch She loves going for walks She loves her humans (kids and adults) She is very respectful of the family dog 16yr old 20lb alpha She loves the family cats She loves to chase the chickens And smell/lick them when close enough She loves her toys She loves to pounce on anything that moves during her walks She's so silly! She loves belly scratches She is pottytrained She is crate trained She does not like a lot of loud noises Will retreat to her crate on her own She does not like thunderstorms Makes for a quick potty break though We are still working on leash training She likes to pull a little still We are still working on her prey drive for the chickens and bunnies If you are looking for a sweet girl who will give you more love than you can handle, look no further. Honey is your girl! From the Vet: Hi! I'm honey and I wanted to share some medical history with my new forever family! I was previously diagnosed with a skin condition called demodex and I started on treatment plan. Things are already improved but I will continue to be monitored and finish the course of medications recommended by the veterinary team. My future family may want to establish care with a primary vet for me just in case I need any future care for my skin.

Hi! I'm Bea. I'm from Texas! From her foster: Bea is 32 pounds of pure joy. She is transitioning from a puppy into an adult dog who loves to both adventure with your family and snuggle on the couch. She has loved taking walks by the lake and trips to the farmers market and wants to say hello to everyone she sees. She is always looking for a lap to sit in but if you need space she is happy to hang out close by with a bone. Bea is still working on learning basic commands and home etiquette, but she is food motivated and excited to learn. She is potty trained on a schedule. She sleeps quietly in a crate and due to her curious puppy energy should probably hang out in a crate when unattended. She loves to play with other dogs. She is very gentle with our toddler and a great companion for kids. Anyone who adopts her will be lucky to have a wonderful companion in their life.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Want to meet me? Come to the Canines for Clean Water event in Powderhorn Park near the Community Center (3421 S 15th Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55407-2234) for an Adoption Event - Thursday, Aug. 22nd from 6:30-7:30 pm. Stay for the Movie in the Park at dusk: Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs. Hi there! I’m Stella, a 3-year-old Boxer Bulldog mix. I’m a relaxed and lazy girl around the house, always on the lookout for a cozy spot to chew on my favorite bone or snuggle with my foster siblings and humans. One of my favorite pastimes is watching the neighborhood squirrels from the window—I've gotten so good at calmly observing them without barking! My favorite toys are filled bones, my two beloved pink toys that I love to shred, and a stuffed elephant with a squeaker that I love to destroy. While I'm not the biggest fan of being outside, I've grown to enjoy my daily walks, especially now that I'm more comfortable on a leash. A big yard with a tall fence would be great for me, especially for potty training and using up some energy. If you don't have a fence, we can go on daily walks together to get my exercise.  Once that is out, I'm a happy couch potato.  Having another dog in my foster home show me how has been helpful.  I'd love another dog my size in my forever home, but I could be an only pup, too, if you humans are home often and promise to spend time with me.  Speaking of potty breaks, I’m doing great with potty training, although have had accidents in my kennel. I usually go potty on the concrete or the back porch, but I’m learning to use the grass too! I’m very smart and have been working hard on my house manners and know some cool commands like 'Sit,' 'Come,' 'Kennel/Crate,' 'Outside,' and 'Go Potty.' I absolutely adore kids, but I can get a bit excited and might accidentally knock over small children. I’m working on being gentle but don’t always know my size. I love to play with other confident dogs after a slow introduction and enjoy running and playing with them. I do get excited around cats at first, but once I settle in, I mostly ignore them. I’m what you would call a high-energy dog and it can appear as high energy reactiveness when I meet new dogs, so an experienced dog owner that can do proper introductions would help me remember to be polite and thrive.  Once I settle in and we get that excited energy out, then we can Netflix and chill and nap together.  I’m a sweet, loving girl who would thrive in an active family with dog experience and perhaps some kids to play and cuddle with. I need a confident pet parent who understands different play styles and dog body language to monitor me during playtime. I promise to bring lots of joy and love to my forever family. Could that be you? Love, Stella *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Come say hi! I'll be at Lonsdale Community Days 8/10 from 11-1 at  104 Railway Street N.W. Lonsdale, MN 55046 Hi! I’m Colton, the silliest boxer mix boy there ever was. I live for toys and I trot around like a champion and show it off to my humans when I find a good one. I also love to go on walks with my humans. We are working on not pulling on the leash and I am a quick learner but do need a reminder once in awhile.  No fenced in yard needed for me, but hey, if you had one, that sure would be fun to run around in and patrol your yard.  I am potty and crate trained, too. Smart huh? I would love to keep learning new things and take an obedience class with you so we can be the smartest duo the world has ever seen.  I would do best in a home with an active owner and either a female dog, a non alpha male dog, or your only dog so we can be besties.  As far as humans go, I love all of them and if you promise to love me, I will happily return the favor with kisses and adventures.  I haven't met any young kids, but when I get excited, I jump for big hugs and would likely knock small ones over.  Also, if they had snacks in their hands, I'd assume they were giving that to me... right? So, I'd probably be best with older kids. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. Story
Hi there, I'm Precious. They say that I am called this because I am the most precious dog here at God's Dogs Rescue. I came to the rescue in October of 2022 to have a safe place for me to have and raise my puppies. All my puppies were adopted by the end of January 2023, but I am still here looking for my furever home. I am a bigger girl, but this just means there is more of me to cuddle you, because I love cuddling it's one of my top 3 favorite things. 1) Food- I love food and will do almost anything you ask if you have a treat involved. 2) Cuddles- on your lap, on the couch, in the bed wherever there is a comfy space with pillows or a human I want to be there. 3) Kisses- I have a love of giving kisses to people, especially kids. Although not everyone likes it when I try to kiss them and that makes me sad. 4) Honorable mention- I like going on walks or in the car for a ride, although I prefer just lazing around at home. My current fosters say that I am a "house hippo with springs in my feet whatever that means; I just know sometimes, when I get super happy, I feel like I could fly- or jump really high. I love their kids and am very good with them even the tiny ones. I get along with most other dogs I meet, although I have a big personality about me, because I'm a boss, so sometimes other dogs don't like that about me. I tolerate cats although if they give me too much attitude or growl at me, I can't help but to give them piece of my mind. I like most new people I meet although I had a rough start in life so sometimes, I can be a little wary with men, with time though I adjust, and we can become best friends forever. A few more little details about me: I am 3 years old I am a Boxer/Shepherd mix I am great with kids I am good with Cats and Dogs I am crate-trained I am housebroken I can be adopted in Texas or anywhere in the US too! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

WE ARE A TX BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application found at haydudeequine.org Heidi - You are the bridge between what was and what will be, my pathway to a new life! My name is Heidi, full of youthful exuberance for life, innocence and curiosity. Ready to crawl right into your heart (won't take long either!!) and be a part of a family...YOUR family! I am still a youngster yet, a big puppy at heart! I have lots of energy and am quite agile. I could be a great candidate for obedience classes and maybe even some fun ones like agility classes. I'm a smart cookie (i know cuz my foster mom tell me so!) and catch on quickly. At 11 months and around 45lbs, I shouldn't get much bigger at my adult weight. What a perfect size for...everything! Neighborhood strolls, nature hikes(aaaah, all those wonderful tantalizing smells), camping, being a co-pilot for errand runs or trips to the park! You name it, I'm ready to give it a whirl and have a blast too (with whatever it is) just cuz we're doing it together!! And the bestest part is that I'm also small enough that I don't hog the whole couch for my cherished cuddle time!! My foster mom wanted you to know this about me - -she is housebroken -she wants to be a lap dog; -she would fit well with an adult home with older children; -with her high prey drive she should be in a home without small dogs or cats but will do well with her size or larger size breed of dogs; -she is a fast learner and will shine with an owner that will include her in their everyday life adventures; -she is crate trained; -she follows basic commands and walks well on leash; -she thrives on daily walks; -she’s a family dog and will make a fabulous family member; -she loves walks, hikes, exploring, tug of war and games using her nose and sparking her intelligence; -she’s quite agile and shows ability in figuring out how to jump over or crawl under set obstacles. She is happy, fun loving and eager to bring joy to her forever home! As my short sleek coat is low maintenance in the grooming department, making me more of a wash-n-to type of gal. And you do know what that means don't you?!! Oh yep yep, lots of extra time in the 'spoil me rotten' department. And you know that's what it's all about!! ;) Big on personality, smart and inquisitive, affectionate and sweet, my oh my I have a boatload of great traits going on, oh and don't forget my stunning good looks, to make me a great family addition, I just need the family...could it be YOUR family?

From the Foster: A typical day with Coco, I am home with Coco all day, with the exception of appointments, errands, etc. After nearly 2 years in our home, Coco has settled in and become a delightful companion dog. She gets along well with, and seems to take cues from, my black lab with a calm temperament. I have modified living arrangements such that the cats are kept separate from her- she seems to have high prey drive and due to limited vision perhaps cant really tell them apart from a squirrel. I had hoped after this long hearing and smelling them, and occasionally seeing them through the gate, she would have become accustomed to them, but alas she is just not a kitty dog. I keep Coco's medication pretty consistent, aiming for 12 hours apart. Coco and Lucy (my resident dog) both sleep on my bed all night. They don't get up until I do, and are great about going right outside and then in to eat and Coco has her oral meds, eye meds, and insulin. She is a champ taking her meds, doesn't resist at all. Throughout the day, Coco and Lucy go between my office and bedroom, taking long naps (they are 9 after all). Coco loves to race outside into the fenced yard with Lucy and search for real or imagined critters. The only thing that deters her is rain! A strange sound or presence will get her raising the alarm, but she settles down quickly and back to her sniffing and taking long luxurious naps in the sun. She may alarm due to her limited vision, but no significant limitations. Coco loves to be where I am, and would rather tag along in the car than be left behind, but thanks to occasional medication and my very mellow black lab, she is feeling more secure and safe as time goes on. She does fine out of the crate in the house, does not chew on unacceptable items, and can wait several hours to go outside. She has never had an accident indoors. Coco loves a long walk, especially a leisurely sniffari. Due to a lot of training, she is not nearly as concerned about other dogs out on walks as she used to be. I try not to get too close for comfort for her, and help her feel safe and confident. SHH can set an adopter up with ongoing training, too. She is pretty stressed, though, if she cant get out of perceived threat area, so instead of dog parks or busy recreation areas, we stick with the familiar neighborhood and a quiet regional nature park. Evenings are super-relaxed. Right after eating their dinner, both pups settle in for reading, watching a movie, or going to bed early. Coco loves to lay on the couch next to a warm body. She isn't a lap dog, not a hugger, but does love to snuggle. Through the course of my veterinary care at The Bond Between it was found that I have diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, and mature cataracts. Luckily, my foster and the doctors at The Bond Between and BluePearl took great care of me, and I am now ready to find my forever home! I had surgery for my cataracts, and I can see much better now. Future adopters should know that due to my multiple endocrine diseases, I will need to continue to work with a primary veterinarian, as well as an internal medicine specialist (I am currently under the care of Dr. Mazepa at BluePearl.) To manage my diabetes, my adopter will need to administer insulin everyday, as well as monitor my glucose levels with the guidance of a veterinarian. I am also on medication for my hypothyroidism. It is recommended that discuss with my future vet clinic about recommended follows ups and labwork (CBC, chemistry, UA, Fructosamine and T4).

Story
Hi, my name is Rocket! I'm an owner surrender from Minnesota. From the foster: It's now been six months since we started fostering Rocket, and here at home we call her Mary Lou! She is doing amazing at learning and growing! She's been working hard, and it shows. She was off of the adoptable dog list during this time but she's come a long way and is now ready to find her loving forever home. Anxiety is still something she deals with, and may always deal with to a degree, but medications (both Rx and over the counter) are really helping her out. Slow introductions with people continue to be necessary although she relaxes much more quickly than she did when she first arrived at our home. It'll take some more time, but we think this won't always be an issue for her. (and see note about TBB offering training to help with this included as part of her adoption!) She is an energetic puppy and loves to play hard with her toys and run around the yard, and then she crashes just as hard for a nap. Her rumbly snores are so cute! The couch is her favorite spot for naps, and she sleeps in bed with us at night. She likes to lay back-to-back or spoon with you. Mary Lou loves to be close by and will follow you all over the house. Regarding playing, she has now mastered 'shake' and is almost there with 'drop it' when we throw her tennis balls. She also knows 'sit' and 'stay', and - depending on her mood - she comes when called. Treats are a big motivator for her. Because she likes to be around her people so much, she doesn't like to be left alone for too long. She is not destructive at all and she doesn't have accidents, she just gets lonely. Fortunately for flexible work schedules, Mary Lou hasn't been home alone for more than about a 5 hour stretch. Even when we just pop out for a quick errand she is thrilled when we return home. Things we continue to work on: * Meeting people. As I mentioned above, this is improving! And once she feels safe, she loves the attention and having more friends to play with. * She still doesn't do great on walks. We're working on it, and this is something the trainer can help with as well. * Mary Lou has not been introduced to cats or other dogs yet. We have lots of bunnies, squirrels, and chipmunks in our yard, and she doesn't chase them. She seems to have a low hunting drive. A few times we've seen her just stop and look at the baby bunnies with her tail wagging. I think that with the right introduction she would probably be ok (and would likely love) living with a cat. Dog introductions will take more work. Mary Lou requires a fenced yard and someone who will take the time to finish helping her feel safe, and show her how great life can be. She is uncomfortable around loud noise and would prefer a quieter home. Mary Lou will thrive being part of a family that isn't gone for long periods of time. At this point, continuing with her anxiety protocol is also necessary. It's possible with training and growing out of puppyhood that it won't always be part of her life. Sweet and silly, Mary Lou is an absolutely amazing dog and is 1000% worth the effort. Literally every day we say that we wish we could keep her as part of our family. If you are looking for a cuddly friend who will love you with her whole heart and will make you laugh multiple times a day, Mary Lou is the girl for you. * Are you thinking about putting in an application for me but you're seeing that I may need some help with training? Not to worry! My adoption comes with training support because The Bond Between wants to help me and my forever family. They know that some dogs need some extra support after adoption and they are all about setting me up for success. You can ask to speak to a trainer if you'd like more information about it. The trainer will tell you that I am worth it! *

Story
I need a temp foster from August 23-25! Please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org if you can help. A portion of my adoption fee has been sponsored by my friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $250.00 will be applied during the contract process Hi my name is Bill and I am from Minnesota. From his foster: Meet Bill (also known as Bill-da-bear, Billy, or Big Head [fondly])! He's a wonderful little pup full of love and kisses who wants to find a family to share them with forever. Bill's quick stats: Fully housebroken Fully crate trained No separation anxiety - you can leave him home alone and he'll just nap while he waits for you to return Obsessed with food (which makes training a breeze!) Very people friendly - will lean into you for pets and loves a good snuggle Humongous gigantic adorable face (big bonus) When he's set up for success, Bill can make dog friends. His interaction with dogs inside of a home, as with any animal, requires a transition time. When he moved into his foster's home he was unsure of the resident black lab at first, but was allowed to gradually get used to having a canine roommate in a low-stress environment with the help of baby gates. After a slow introduction, Bill and his foster's resident dog are now great friends and coexist extremely well! He does love to play (with humans and familiar dogs alike), and because he is a medium sized dog we recommend caution with toddlers as they can get underfoot. Cats that aren't extremely confident and don't like to play may take some time getting used to having Bill in the house, as he's been very keen to chase squirrels and rabbits on walks. His baseline energy is relaxed, but Bill vibes off the energy in the room, so if you get excited for play time Bill is ready to go! He would make a great running companion but is also content to bounce around the backyard fetching a ball for a bit, then lounge around chewing on his favorite bone. Bill has been to social events and has done fantastic. He was the dog of the game at a St. Paul Saints game and was amazing with all the kids and adults coming up to him and giving him pets. All in all we know that you will love him, and as much as we will miss our little Bill-da-Bear we are so happy knowing he is going to a home with a family that will cherish him!
