Story
Meet Archie, the wise old soul wrapped in a furry, four-legged frame, whose presence lights up any room he enters. With a twinkle in his eye and a wag in his tail and ears as expressive as his personality, Archie embodies the perfect blend of spunk and serenity. Despite his advancing years, Archie's enthusiasm for life remains undiminished, making him the embodiment of ageless charm. Archie's petite stature belies his boundless personality. Whether he's strutting confidently on a leisurely walk or nestled snugly in his favorite spot for a post-stroll nap, Archie approaches every moment with gusto. His love for exploration knows no bounds, yet he remains ever reliable and house-trained, a testament to his impeccable manners and responsible demeanor. But don't mistake his independence for aloofness - Archie is a seasoned pro at melting hearts with his affectionate snuggles. There's nothing quite like the warmth of Archie's presence as he cozies up beside you, his soft fur and gentle demeanor serving as a soothing balm for the soul. In Archie, you'll find not just a pet, but a cherished companion whose loyalty and companionship are unwavering. With each passing day, Archie reminds us that age is but a number, and that true joy can be found in the simple pleasures of a good walk, a cozy nap, and the boundless love of a furry friend. Archie needs some dental work but the rescue will be taking care of the cost of his dental care. Future adopters will have the opportunity to "foster-to-adopt" until his mouth is back to its full glory. Once his dental treatment is complete, the rescue will finalize his adoption. Does it sound like you and Archie might be a good fit for each other? Apply now!

Ziggy Ziggy Ziggy - can't you see sometimes your love just hypnotize me! Despite be surrendered to the shelter at 10 years old when his owner could no longer care for him, Ziggy still has the fever for the flavor of a crowd-pleaser. Ziggy is super friendly (not sure he's ever met a stranger) and loves meeting new people to show off his whole-body tail wags and his good manners. Ziggy is just THE best boy and has the most infectious joyful personality. He is fully house trained, crate trained, and sleeps through the night. He gets along well with other dogs, has done just fine in a house with a cat, and walks well on the leash. Because Ziggy is so easy going, he would do great whether he is an only dog or in a home with other pets. Don't let Ziggy's age fool you either - he has the energy of a much younger dog. His loves (in no particular order) include playing fetch, a fluffy toy, being with his people, couch snuggles, riding in the car, and going on a leisurely stroll around the block. Ziggy is ready to bring a whole lot of joy and love into your life, so don't wait - apply for this sweet boy today!

Story
Meet Suni, a 5-year-old Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix with a heart as big as her namesake, gifted gymnast Suni Lee! This little dynamo may be small, but she's full of love. Suni is a loyal canine companion who prefers to be attached at the hip to her chosen person. While she may take a hot minute (or more) to warm up, once she knows she's safe and ready, she's more than happy to snuggle up under a blanket with her favorite person and relax. Suni came to our rescue with skin that had seen more than its fair share of fleas, but her skin and coat improve every day and should be back to normal in no time with continued care. We think Suni would be equally happy in a home where she's the center of attention or has a canine (or perhaps feline) BFF. Suni might be a little bit too anxious to share a home with a tiny young human, but we imagine she'd do well with patient older children. If you're looking for a pint-sized pup who enjoys smiling and sleeping, Suni is the perfect match for you. She's ready to flip her way into your heart and become your new best friend!

Story
ROXIE - COURTESY POSTING Roxie is a middle aged (7-9 year old) chihuahua mix that weighs in at 13 lbs. Roxie was among the 50 that were rescued alive from a hoarding situation in GA, of about 150 dogs. She is spayed now, but has been over bred in the past.  Roxie faces a few challenges; she has exhibited some neurological damage, and her back end doesn’t work as well as it should. Her stride wobbles in the rear and she has a tendency to slide her back feet on the floor. She has occasional accidents that she doesn’t know is happening. She has less feeling back there and tends to bite her feet.  She doesn’t appear to like other dogs, and would enjoy being an only dog. We have not observed her with other pets so we can’t speak to her inter-specie behavior.  Roxie is a very sweet and very loving girl, she is a true lap dog. Her favorite toys are squeaky toys that she will squeak until they stop. Roxie doesn’t bark a lot, but she does have an adorable snore. She is crate trained. Roxie would perfectly fit in a home with lots of patience, love and attention. She is truly a delightful girl.  She is spayed, UTD on shots, HW neg and on HW prevention. Her adoption donation is $250.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. To submit an application go here……chihuahua-rescue.com/adoption-application/An application must be submitted and approved before a meet-n-greet can be scheduled. Your current dogs/cats must be spayed or neutered unless a veterinarian has determined that your current pet(s) should not be fixed due to medical reasons. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative.Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA, TN, AL, MD and GA.
