Story
Capi is an 8 year old Chihuahua mix, 13 lbs, neutered. He is house trained and he listens very well. He is going through a training program right now to build his confidence and his social skills. He already knows basic commands and is very good at listening. Capi would do best being a single pet in the household. He is very sweet and cuddly but he can also be a guard dog because he gets attached to his owner very fast and wants to protect them. Capi lives in an apartment building so he is around a lot of other dogs and people and he does very well going out for walks every day. He does need some time to warm up to a new person at first but after that, he will follow them everywhere. I am rehoming Capi because I inherited him and I am currently fostering him and getting him professionally trained to be a good pet for someone in need. He has no medical issues and does not take any medicine. He is in a great shape for his age and can even go on longer walks or be active.

Story
Bella was born 4/9/17 so that makes her 6.5 years old. She weighs around 12 lbs. She loves to play tug of war and also likes to fetch. She is very active. She is also a total love bug. When you sit on the couch, she jumps right up and snuggles up right next to you. She will constantly nudge your hand wanting to be petted. She sleeps in the bed with you and crawls up under the covers to snuggle up next to you. She is also a chow hound. She is always begging for something to eat. She is taken out regularly when her foster mom is home. Once when her foster mom didn’t take her out soon enough, she started circling and her foster mom knew she was looking for a place to go. During the day while her foster mom is at work, Bella is left blocked off in her foster mom’s den. Pee pads are left down and she will go on them. She has not torn anything up and her foster mom is gone around 9 hours per day. Her previous foster crated her during the day and said she tore everything up and made a total mess. Her foster mom did lock her in a crate for about 3 hours one day, while she was gone, and she was fine. Bella is dog aggressive and will need to be an ONLY DOG. Even on leash when walking Bella reacts negatively to other dogs. Bella also has a high prey drive so would do best in a home without smaller animals.  Fence is required due to her dog aggression to ensure her safety.  Bella’s adoption fee is $300.00 If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. They must also be up-to-date on shots and on HW preventative. Reference checks and a home visit are required so SE dogs can only be adopted in NC/SC, VA MD, AL, TN, and GA.

Story
Meet Denzel and Cameron! Denzel and Cameron are a bonded pair that entered CRT after their owner passed away. Denzel is estimated to be around 8 years old but possibly older and around 6.5 pounds. Cameron is believed to be around 14 years old and weighs about 20 pounds. As noted above, these boys are quite bonded and it is an absolute must that they be adopted to the same home. Cameron doesn’t even like there to be a door between himself and Denzel! Denzel is the smaller fawn-colored pup and Cameron is rust-colored and heavier. Denzel and Cameron’s foster mom reports that Cameron is a very sweet boy. Denzel can be grumpy at times and as he has snapped at a neighbor, should go to an adult only home or a home with respectful children who know how to respect small older dogs. Cameron has had a large growth removed from his leg. The vet said it looked like soft tissue osteosarcoma; unfortunately, the growth accidentally got thrown away so we had no biopsy to confirm this. Cameron’s knees don’t work well and he struggles to take the step from his foster mom’s porch to the yard and back but he has done it through sheer determination thus far. Cameron has also been noted on xray to have an enlarged heart and takes a daily medication for his heart. Both boys are potty trained. They are neutered and have been vetted. They are heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. They will be microchipped prior to adoption. Denzel and Cameron’s’ adoption donation is $550.00. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
Meet Dutchess and Capone! Dutchess and Capone are a mom and son bonded pair of chihuahuas. They came to CRT as owner surrenders. Their owner loved them very much, but due to unforeseen circumstances could no longer care for them. Dutchess, the momma, is 13 years old and 5.5 pounds. Capone, her son, is 10 years old and about seven pounds. Dutchess is the smaller brown chihuahua, and Capone is slightly larger and tan colored. These two are extremely sweet and really are the perfect pair. They are a little shy at first until they get to know you, and then are very loving and want to be your lap buddies. Capone likes to follow his foster mom around in the house. Both love to be on the couch snuggling their foster mom while watching TV. Do not let their age fool you! They love to run, play, and explore outside in the yard and lounging in the sunshine. Dutchess and Capone are crate trained and housebroken. However, they love sleeping with their foster mom in the bed and use pet steps to get up on the bed. They walk well with a harness and leash and get along great with other dogs and do not mind cats. They are good with children as well. When they had their dentals, Dutchess lost all her teeth and Capone most of his teeth, so soft food works best. Dutchess and Capone are up to date on vaccines, spayed and neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and on HW prevention. Dutchess and Capones’ adoption donation is $500 ($250 each). If you are interested in the above dogs, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. The link for the application is below. Story
Mr. T is a 5 month old male chihuahua mix and he is ready for adoption! Mr. T was born on May 6, 2024, and he is currently 7 pounds. Mr. T is a playful and sweet little cuddle bug. He snuggles up next to his foster mom at night, and during the daytime loves to play with his foster siblings and also will tug on a braid if he finds someone with one! Mr T is a hysterical little man once he gets to know you. Shy upon introduction, he can take several days to be willing to allow you to hold him. He will circle you, get close and watch you, but no touchies until he's ready! Mr T one hundred percent needs an emotional support canine companion! Panda is his current companion, and they play a lot and cuddle together all the time. Mr T takes all his cues from his canine companions so other small dog(s) in the home are a must! He would do best without grumpy older dogs who may be overwhelmed by a younger sibling. He’d also do best in a child-free home. He currently gets along with all the other dogs in his foster home, has learned boundaries with them and is willing to give them space when they need it. He's on the more submissive side of little boys. Sweet and gentle, Mr. T is all puppy once he trusts you! If you want a snuggle bug who will adore the ground you walk on, Mr. T is your man! And yes, he does cuddle with the other dogs in his foster home! Mr. T is house trained at his foster home, with a routine set of companions and open access to pee pads. However, in his short term foster home while his regular foster was out of town, he did have several accidents. His home needs to understand he is still a puppy and training is required! Mr. T has been leash trained. Mr. T is neutered and up to date on his vaccinations. He has been fully vetted. He is microchipped. He is heartworm negative and takes a monthly heartworm prevention pill. Mr. T’s adoption donation is $350.  If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application. Story
Greta was rescued from a hoarding situation that involved 66 dogs. She had almost no social skills with humans when she was rescued. To top it off, Greta was pregnant when she was rescued. CRT volunteers helped Greta raise her five puppies. She is about 2 years old and weighs in at around 15 pounds. She looks to be part Chihuahua and part miniature Doberman. Greta is a bundle of energy. She is very fast and really loves to run. So, a big yard is preferable. Because of her lack of social skills, Greta will be a flight risk until she gets to know her new owner well. She once got away from her foster dad but luckily she returned in a little over an hour mainly because she had not had her morning meal yet (it can also be said that Greta loves to eat! She will try to eat anything within reach just like it’s her last meal). Greta likes to play with other dogs. She still keeps her distance from her human caretakers and has not shown any interest in her two pre-teen foster sisters. However, it is interesting to point out that Greta likes to sleep right in between her Foster Dad and Foster Mom’s heads. So, there appears to be hope that Greta may one day be a good snuggle buddy. Greta’s Foster Dad gets her up and out to potty first thing in the morning. Then, it’s off for a morning walk which brings her great excitement. Greta is still learning how to be house-trained but she does use a pee pad in the house when she is not taken out in a timely manner. She is also used to staying in a kennel. Greta does not tolerate the Purina Pro Plan kibbles that her foster sisters eat. Her foster Mom and Dad feed her a special diet that consists of boneless chicken thighs, spinach, carrots, apples, and supplements. Greta is up to date on all her shots and is fully vetted and ready to be adopted. She is heartworm negative and on monthly heartworm prevention. She is spayed and microchipped. Greta’s adoption donation is $300. If you are interested in the above dog, please do not email us and tell us that you are interested, but submit an adoption application.
