Story
Truffle and Biscuit were surrendered to our rescue after living with their family for 12 years. They decided having human children was more important than hanging on to this bonded pair, so we are eager to find a family for them who CHOOSE them til the very end! They are good with dogs, have had recent dentals, they are snuggly and loving - typical Chis! To apply for these 12 year old siblings, please go to apply.neshamarescue.org

Story
Edith came to our rescue from a rural shelter where she had suffered from pyometria, an infection of the uterus that is 100% preventable if her previous owner had spayed her before. She has since been spayed, microchipped, is up to date on vaccines and HW-. She is a quiet house guest in her foster home, and enjoys laying on the orthopedic bed. She went to her first adoption event yesterday and enjoyed sitting in a volunteers lap the whole time! She is sweet and would be fine as an only dog, or with another nice chill dog. Please apply for this sweet little lady and give her some love in her senior years. apply.neshamarescue.org

Meet Igor! Don't let his name fool you. This dog is seriously sweet and SERIOUSLY cuddly. He loves to curl up in a bucket dog bed on his human's bed and snooze. When he entered our care he had a gnarly skin and mouth infection. We have treated his skin with medicines and his hair is starting to slowly grow back. We got him a dental as well, and he is feeling better already! He gets along well with other cats an dogs, and would be a great senior buddy to curl up on the couch with. Story
Tina Louise and Peggy Sue were someone's pets for 9 years. When they became unable to care for themselves, they were dropped off at a shelter. We rescued them because we couldn't bear the thought that these two sweet senior gals would be in a scary, loud shelter environment. Tina, the chi is partially blind but she gets around really well and loves to cuddle. She had a dental an is doing so well in her foster home. She can be with other nice dogs, or on her own. Please apply for her at apply.neshamarescue.org

Story
(DOB 07/15/2021) Fawn is a delightful 27-pound Chihuahua-Whippet mix with a personality as unique as her breed combo! This sweet girl may start off a bit shy, but don’t let that fool you—once she’s comfortable, she’ll melt your heart with her affectionate nature and gentle spirit. Fawn is the ideal companion for someone looking for a sensitive, loving dog who thrives on attention and affection. Her breed mix brings out the best of both worlds: the playful, energetic side of a Chihuahua combined with the sleek elegance and calm demeanor of a Whippet. Fawn loves to be around people, especially kids. In fact, she has a special fondness for little boys and will shower them with hugs, kisses, and all the cuddles they can handle. She also gets along wonderfully with other dogs and absolutely adores cats—making her a great fit for a multi-pet household. When she’s not snuggling up to her favorite humans, Fawn enjoys spending time outdoors, whether it's going for a leisurely walk, chasing after squeaky toys, or just soaking up the sunshine. She’s a fantastic car companion, always up for a road trip or a quick Starbucks run with you. Fawn is also a smart cookie! She knows all the basics—sit, stay, shake—and is a model pup in the house. Not only is she crate-trained, but her impeccable manners mean she’s just as happy being left uncrated as long as she’s with her family. No chewing or destruction here; just a sweet, well-behaved girl who loves to be a part of your everyday life. If you’re looking for a snuggly, intelligent companion who will quickly become the center of your world, Fawn is ready to bring joy and affection into your home! As part of Fawn’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Fawn, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.   ##2163148##

Story
(DOB 11/26/2024) Due to Champ’s young age, he has not yet been neutered. For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC). In addition, he will be unable to do any meet and greets until he gets his next puppy shot on 1/28/25 - no exceptions. Champ (aka Scrappy Doo), the tiny, turbo-charged 1-pound ball of energy and joy is going to make you smile! This little guy is an absolute dynamo who lives for playtime and snuggles! With his soft, short coat and chihuahua-like looks, Champ is a pint-sized powerhouse of personality who will steal your heart in an instant. He LOVES to play! Whether it's chasing after toys, tugging on bones, or engaging in epic play sessions with his bigger foster sisters (yes, he fearlessly plays with dogs up to 50 pounds!), Champ is always ready to go! Watching him zoom around with his hilarious Scrappy Doo energy will have you laughing all day long.  Though he’s not quite ready to conquer the stairs just yet, this little guy’s adventurous spirit shines through, and once he’s big enough, there’s no stopping him! Champ’s fearlessness and zest for life make him an absolute hoot to watch. At his very young age and size he still has a lot to work on; things like potty training, crate trianing, walking on a leash and basic commands so a person/family that is going to be patient and playful with Champ is needed. He’s so small that his foster mom sometimes has to carry him in a carrier to make sure he doesn’t get stepped on—he’s basically a pocket-sized bundle of joy! So a home that will be aware of his tiny size and keep him safe inside and out is of utmost importance. Are you that active home with lots of love to give? This adorable, playful pup will want another playful dog to match his energy and someone who works from home and can give him the attention and socialization he needs to grow into the best little companion. If you’re looking for a pint-sized, hilarious bundle of joy, Champ is your guy! As part of Champ’s $325 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Champ, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2276818##

Story
Kirby is a sweet affectionate little man. He seems to bond closely with "his person, but he isn't a fan of a busy household with lots of visitors. Kirby would make a great companion for adults who spend a lot of time at home and would like a lap dog and napping buddy to keep them company. He might be fine in a home with older/teenage children, but young kids are a bit much for him. He has been fine with both the cat and the dog in his foster home. He is working on being a "house dog and will need owners who will be patient with him and work on teaching him some doggy basics while he gets used to his new home. He's a sweet little guy who will love you forever if you give him the chance.

Story
Zea is a senior lady who enjoys cuddling up to her people on the couch, or better yet, right in your lap! She loves her feeding times and will get close any time someone is eating. She does well with the active foster sibling dog in her house. She's done well in her foster home with very active children around. She's already potty trained and loves slow, casual walks so she can smell everything along the way. Zea enjoys spending her days lying in the sunlight or looking out the windows. She's a sweet girl who will love her family with all her heart!

Story
Meet Miss Peggy! This senior chi-weenie gal is full of love and sass. When she's not zooming around playing with toys or dogs, you can find her somewhere sleeping under a blanket. Peggy loves her people and doesn't like to be without them. Ideally, Peggy is looking for someone who works from home since she loves being with her people so much. She's not a fan of being crated and will let you know that. While she's small, Peggy is not a good fit for apartments/shared walls since she can sing the song of her people when she is left alone. She loves to wrestle, chase, and snuggle with other dogs. We strongly prefer that she goes to a home where she can have a canine companion to be besties with. She also loves laying outside in the sunshine, but a fence is not required. She does well on a leash and loves to go on walks. Peggy is house-trained and very good at letting you know when she needs to go out. Younger kids make her a little nervous, so she should go to a home with older kids or no kids. Even though Peggy is a senior, she's quite fit. Her only "issue upon coming to us was her mouth. Years of improper dental care took a toll on her and Peggy had to have 12 teeth removed when she came to Freedom Ride. She will be good as new once she's healed from these extractions. If you and your dog are looking for a new friend, apply to meet Peggy today!
