Story
Hi, I'm Harper! I came wiht my 6 sweet little pups. After leading them through puppyhood, I am ready to find my own forever love. Can that be with you?  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2260091##

Story
A spritely 10 month old 28 lb. mixed breed female maybe Welsh Corgi, Collie, Shepard. Rescued at a shelter on 12/27/24 as a stray with no microchip, tags, or collar. She would be a great fit for someone that has ample time to train & play, is patient & gentle, has a yard and NO CATS. Is doing great with the females (mom & 11 yr old) in the house; was more cautious with the male, but seeks his attention now and isn't timid. Super fast, treat motivated, easy to train (sit, shake, outside, so far), good with dog door & housetrained with access to outside. Was timid about harness and leash, but doing good now. Had never been walked before. Being crate trained when away, cuddling at night & doesn't like to be alone. Vocal when someone enters the house. Sweet, gentle & lays around with family once energy is expended. Good fit is someone that can be active during daytime & isn't gone a lot. Not sure if apartment is good fit. Will be loyal & loving. Slept through the night no problems!

Story
My story is both heart-warming and heartbreaking, but I'm glad I found my way back to the rescue organization that can help me find the forever home I deserve. I can be a gentle and loyal companion who simply craves the love and attention that every dog deserves. Despite the neglect I experienced in my previous home,I have adjusted well since being returned to the rescue. My shyness and caution around men is understandable, but with the right patience and care, I'm confident I will blossom into a wonderful family member. Here are a few key points about you that stand out: I am a loyal and humble companion who appreciates the simple things in life, like gentle pats and a calm voice. I may be a bit shy at first, but will warm up to people and become the heart of the home. I would do best in a quiet, loving environment, and would make a great match for older children or a veteran looking for a furry friend. Despite the neglect in my past, I have adjusted well since being returned to the rescue.  I truly believe that with the right forever family who is willing to give me the time, patience, and love I deserve, I will flourish. I have so much to offer, and I hope to find that special someone who can provide me with the forever home I've been searching for.  Please fill out an application for me at www.fureverdogdenver.com, if you have any questions or would like to meet me, please call 720 588-6809. ##2096191##

Story
Meet Boots! This adorable 8-month-old Border Collie mix is full of love and energy. She’s potty trained, crate trained, and gets along with everyone—kids, other dogs, and even cats! Boots is a fan of long walks, car rides, and occasional puppuccinos. And if you throw her ball, she’s ready for a fun game of fetch! She’s playful, energetic, and would absolutely thrive in a home with a nice, fenced yard to run and play in. If you’re looking for a friendly, active companion, Boots might be the perfect fit for your family. Once adopted, will travel via the Rescue Transport to new family. They travel each weekend from Memphis, Tennessee to the northeast, delivering pups along the way as far north as West Greenwich, Rhode Island. Transport is an additional $185. If you would like to make this cutie part of your family, please follow the link below to our adoption application. Our turnaround time is typically less than 24 hours so please be prepared before you submit your application. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
This dog is a courtesy listing and not one of our dogs. Please contact the email listed in this post. Obi is a 6.5-year-old Border Collie Shepherd mix. He is up to date on vaccinations and neutered. He is kid and cat-friendly. He is kennel-trained. He would love a home where he is the only dog and he has a yard! Obi can be difficult on the leash which is why a yard would suit him best. He’s been through a lot over the years before we brought him into our family and he takes a bit of time to adjust but comes out of his shell wonderfully and loves to give all the kisses! We unfortunately had to move and our new apartment does not allow dogs his size. He is a true joy and sweetheart to have in our lives and we would love to see Obi go to a home that will cherish him as much as we have. If you or someone you know is interested in fostering or adopting Obi please call/text me at 720-314-7975.December 22, 2024, 11:15 am

Story
Thriving in her foster home, 7-month-old Target, the former stray, is finally safe. At 33 pounds, this white and tan beauty percolates with puppy enthusiasm and energy, sweetness and sociability. Tender and gentle, she loves being petted, cuddled and snuggled by her foster mom, resting her head on her, showing her paw for love and returning her affection by giving her hugs. A true people pup, Target also loves wagging her tail and greeting everyone she meets and was endearingly friendly towards the children she encountered at the dog park. Learning all about boundaries, she enjoys engaging with dogs of all sizes, walking and running with her foster mom, improving her leash skills along the way, and going swimming. Famously fond of tennis balls, peanut butter lick mats and treats, motivated by love and food, Target currently knows “come” and “no,” is almost fully crate trained (Benebones inside her crate help), and is at work on both her house-training and puppy manners. Now all Target needs is an adoring and active home without cats to continue her socialization, perfect her manners and complete her training, including her commands, in exchange for a lifetime of happy hugs and a love like no other.  Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $450 (includes a $50 refundable puppy training deposit). Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
