Story
We are rehoming Poppy because we have a one year old daughter and a boy on the way in March, and we are not able to provide Poppy with the attention she needs to have a fulfilling life. We adopted Poppy from a rescue. She is very friendly and almost 2 yrs old, so very energetic. She is also 65 pounds of pure muscle, so while she does good on walks, if she decides to chase something, you really have to brace yourself. She will enthusiastically love humans she knows, but takes some training to get to know new people. She will get anxious and bark if a stranger tries to pet her, but mostly avoids people/dogs on walks. She is not familiar with small children, so she needs extra supervision if children are around, running, screaming, etc. Poppy is house and crate trained.

Story
Hi! I`m Toto and I`m looking for a forever home with a family who has a lot of patience and love to give me while I learn how to trust.I`m about 7 years old and I`ve been at SPARC for qa few years now. I came here with several of my friends. They all got adopted, but I`m still waiting for my new family. Luckily, I went to live with a nice foster family for a while where I` learned lots of new things, like how to trust. One reason I`m probably still waiting for a home is because I never learned how to be touched. I`m shy and run away when people try to pet me. But that doesn`t mean I don`t like people because I really do love people. I`m just scared.I enjoyed following my foster mom everywhere she went, curling up next to her on the sofa and sunbathing in the backyard. I enjoyed playing with my foster dog sister and brother. Actually, I get along well with all small dogs, and here at SPARC I hang out with all the other little dogs while we wait for a home. I`m crate trained and I`m almost fully house trained, I would just need to learn the right place to pee in a new yard.I`m starting to understand and trust when people put their hand towards me (because they might have a treat!) You`ll have to be patient with me as it`s going to take a little longer before I`m comfortable enough to get petted. Will you please come and meet me and take me home where I can continue to learn to trust? I`ve been waiting such a long time, and I promise to love you with all my heart!!!

Story
Hello there, lovely folks! I`m LadyBird, and I`m absolutely thrilled to introduce myself to you. Let`s dive into my world and uncover all the reasons why I could be the perfect addition to your life! I may be 8 years young, but my heart is brimming with love and enthusiasm. With a body made of pure cuddle potential, I`m the ideal size for those cozy moments and exciting adventures we`ll share. You might be curious about my journey – I`ve spent over 1,200 days here at the SPARC shelter. It`s been quite the ride, but with each passing day, I`ve learned to embrace the warmth and care that the shelter staff provide. They`ve transformed my fears into trust, and now I can`t wait to greet them with hugs and tail wags. I`m all about being the star of your attention show. I thrive as the solo pup, relishing in the joy of being your one and only loyal companion. Sure, it might take me a little time to fully open up, but once I do, you`ll have a friend for life – a friend who`s ready to create memories, share laughter, and offer unconditional love.Give SPARC a call to set up a meet-and-greet – let`s embark on this adventure that`s brimming with tail wags, heartfelt cuddles, and the promise of a friendship that will light up our lives. I`m ready to be your loyal companion and share a lifetime of love.

Story
Hi there! I`m Spice. I was found with my friend Shaggie roaming the riverbeds of Santa Paula. I am a very frightened guy and am not used to new people at all. I would need a family or person who is willing to work with me and visit me more than once, so I am able to get used to them. I am a very good boy, but I have had so many adventures lately that I need some stability in my life now.If you are interested in getting to know me, please fill out an application and schedule a time to meet me. ****Any meet-n-greets will be a slow process for introduction & will take multiple visits before Spice is comfortable with a new person handling him, but he is worth it****
