Story
Cute right? This adorable guy is Sensei and he is finally ready to start the search for a forever home. Ironically enough, Sensei actually needs a sensei or in another words...a teacher. We aren't sure he has a lick of training but we know an experienced and calm owner could do wonders with him. He has mellowed a lot in the last few weeks, a far cry from the emaciated wild child that showed up from the animal shelter. Honestly, he was tough to handle and all over the place at first but he has settled in and become a willing student. We aren't sure if he has any doggie social skills yet but we do know he has some reactivity on leash (common in our breed) so he will need a little work in order to go for walks in the neighborhood. He won't be the right addition for a lot of people but for the right home, Sensei could be an amazing companion. Affectionate, smart and perfect for people who love to be active...absolutely full of potential.

Story
Cannon is a 3-year-old Dobie (as of 2020) who was turned in to an animal shelter by his owner. He is a "hard-mouthed" dog and actually did break skin minorly when interacting with a kennel staff member, so he was then quarantined for the bite and made "rescue-only." During Cannon's stay with us, it appears that he merely engages in rough play, and an experienced adopter should be able to work through this behavior with him, either through professional training or electronic aids or both. Cannon has been kenneled alone since he wasn't able to live with another dog long-term during his stay with us. This dog will also require at least moderate daily exercise to release some of his energy. We are also seeking an adult owner for him.

Story
Radar and his brother, Hoagie, were rescued together; a very lucky day for them. They had been listed as Doberman Pinschers, and they passed their temperament tests at their animal shelter. When their shelter ran out of room for dogs in the available-dogs section, another shelter agreed to take them. At the last minute, however, the other shelter backed out, leaving the brothers with nowhere to go. They were scheduled to be put down the next day. So...one of our people went to view them and discovered that they aren't "quite" Dobies, but they were friendly and handsome, and best of all, they could share a kennel. We'll be happy to place them individually or together. They're about 2 years old.

Story
Harley came to us recently (January, 2020) after being adopted from an animal shelter by a couple who hoped she would keep company with their elderly female Dobie. Unfortunately they found that Harley wasn't agreeable to the arrangement. She certainly doesn't enjoy meeting other dogs on leash and we don't think living with female dogs is a good idea, but she has been sharing her kennel peacefully with a large, male Dobie. With people, Harley is a darling; she loves attention and is patient and sweet. She is believed to be about 3 years old. The people that adopted her briefly from the shelter kept her outdoors, so it isn't known whether she is housebroken, but what we have observed first-hand is that she can either climb or vault over a 6' link fence, so she'll need a secure yard with a high fence or wall. Everyone who sees Harley asks about her, due to her beauty and innate charm.

Story
Dino is a new animal shelter arrival (mid-April, 2020) where the volunteers jumped for joy when we rescued him. He and his brother had been turned in to a shelter because they argued, which created animosity on Dino's part toward large male dogs in general. Dino is 4 years old, rides well in the car, likes people a lot but needs some leash training. Though he has a natural tail, it curves over his back, so no coffee-table sweeps from him!

Story
Cookie came to us from an animal shelter after she was confiscated from a property along with many other dogs. She's only a few years old and she is actually quite pretty but she needs a lot of help behaviorally. Cookie is great with all other dogs because she came from a place with so many other dogs around but she didn't get the same socialization with people. She is quite scared of people and she will need a lot of patience and understanding. Cookie also shuts down on leash so she will need work with that as well. We know that Cookie has a long way to go but we really hope that there is someone out there with the patience needed to help this sweet girl trust so she can have a happy, stress free life. *We try to keep our posts up-to-date but there may be more dogs available for adoption than we have shared here.
