AVALON Attributes Likes some other dogs Housetrained Crate trained Needs a fence High energy This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! Avalon is a beautiful and energetic beagle mix girl who would make a great companion for an avid walker, hiker, runner, or active family. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, and she does best at playing with another confident dog. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. She’s cautious around strangers and may sometimes bark but will warm up to them if given time to get to know them. She is also nervous about noises and new situations. Avalon is currently training to help her gain confidence. Avalon’s foster mom says that she a very smart girl and is picking up obedience basics such as “sit,” “wait,” and “come,” and is working on improving her leash manners. Avalon rides well in the car and goes to doggy daycare two or three days a week, where she really seems to enjoy hanging out and playing with her friends there. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. When it’s time to go to sleep, Avalon is equally happy to snuggle up in a dog bed or people's bed – she just wants to be comfy! She’s housetrained with the use of a doggy door. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor, or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet, and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

Story
GEORGE Attributes Snuggly Not good in an apartment Housetrained Requires a fence Dog friendly High energy Bad in car My name is George and my foster parents say I'm a great dog!! My collar says it too, it says “bestest boy”! I'm a young beagle 2-3 years old. I LOVE playing with other dogs, and I LOVE cuddling with the humans here!! I will trust fall into your lap. I listen pretty well for a beagle and will do anything for a treat. I get lots of treats to go outside so house training has gone really well. I'm also kind of crate trained, I sleep in my crate at night and I stay there when my foster parents are at work for a few hours during the day, but I do bark a little bit. I will stop for a peanut butter-stuffed Kong. They joke they should have named me Tigger because I jump up and down and twist when I get excited for food!! I'm pretty smart and might be a good dog for agility or even a barn hunt, I would love doggy daycare. I am a very social dog with the other dogs. I get car sick (which is why I am not great in the car). If I take medication for car sickness, I am good. If you think I’m the boy you’ve been looking for, contact your Midwest BREW counselor right away and ask about George! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

DUKE TOO Attributes Dog friendly Crate trained Likes car rides Not best for apartments High energy Needs a fence Will potty on a leash Working on housetraining Hello! My name is Duke Too, I am a beagle mix, at almost 2 years old, and full of energy. I’d make a great companion for an avid walker, hiker, or runner, or an active family with children over the age of 12. A home with a fenced-in yard where I can burn off excess energy by running and playing would be ideal. For the most part, I know I am supposed to go potty outside and I will go to the door to let my foster parents know. I have only had a few accidents in the house. I am good in the crate and go into it at night without any issues. I do like to talk in the morning to let everyone know it is time to go out, so I wouldn’t do the best in an apartment or condo. I love my foster family's children, being with my human family, giving kisses, and receiving lots of attention is one of my favorite things! I love to run! I get the zoomies regularly and race around the house trying to get someone to chase me! I love playing fetch and I am happy to return the ball as long as you are willing to throw it. I have a lot of puppyness in me still but I am working on how walking on a leash and how to “sit” and “leave it”. When my foster mom works at home, I love to curl up near her and take a nap. I love to be outside and guard the yard from birds, bunnies, and squirrels, so I would love a nice big fenced yard of my own to run and play! I do like to try to go thru the door first, so my foster mom is working with me on my manners. I am so excited to find my forever family. I have so much love to give! If you think you have my perfect home, my foster mom would love to talk to you. Thank you! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Saint is a 2 year old Labrador retriever/ Australian Shepherd mix who found himself in a Louisiana shelter after being seized from a cruelty case in November 2023. Set to be euthanized, ASF rescued him in the final hour. While Saint does not have the typical looks of an Aussie, he certainly shares the typical Aussie energy, herding instincts, and affectionate disposition. Also, the signature chilling blue eyes. Unfortunately, Saint also had heart worm disease. After several months of medical care and strict crate rest Saint is ready to find his forever home! Saint’s current foster family, located in Pittsburgh, Pa, adores him. He is super cuddly and loves to play with his foster brother. Saint is house trained, crate trained, and must be in a cat free home. Saint can’t wait to meet you! If Saint sounds perfect for you, please fill out the application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There is an additional $20 microchip fee which includes registration and transfer to his new furever family. All adoption fees are used for future rescue efforts.
