Story
AVALON Attributes Likes some other dogs Housetrained Crate trained Needs a fence High energy This gorgeous young gal with movie-star looks is Avalon! Avalon is a beautiful and energetic beagle mix girl who would make a great companion for an avid walker, hiker, runner, or active family. A home with a yard where she can burn off her puppy energy by romping and playing would be ideal. Playtime with other dogs is a serious business for Avalon, and she does best at playing with another confident dog. Avalon is a beagle/boxer/terrier mix, and we’re guessing that she’ll weigh in the neighborhood of 50 pounds once she’s an adult. Because of her size, she’ll need supervision around smaller children but should be fine with older ones. She’s cautious around strangers and may sometimes bark but will warm up to them if given time to get to know them. She is also nervous about noises and new situations. Avalon is currently training to help her gain confidence. Avalon’s foster mom says that she a very smart girl and is picking up obedience basics such as “sit,” “wait,” and “come,” and is working on improving her leash manners. Avalon rides well in the car and goes to doggy daycare two or three days a week, where she really seems to enjoy hanging out and playing with her friends there. Her foster mom says she’s very food motivated and “eats like a vacuum” (show us a beagle who doesn’t!), so if there are other dogs in the house, she should be fed separately from them. When it’s time to go to sleep, Avalon is equally happy to snuggle up in a dog bed or people's bed – she just wants to be comfy! She’s housetrained with the use of a doggy door. If you’re looking to liven up your days with a sweet, affectionate, energetic companion, Avalon may be the dog you’ve been looking for! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Please read our Standards for Adoption and the information about beagles and puppies before you submit an adoption application. Remember that owning a puppy is a full-time commitment and you must have the time to commit to a dog that will be with you for 12-17 years. Beagle puppies are cute - but they are very challenging. Puppies may eat your apartment (no refund of security deposit); people who are gone for more than 5 hours at a time will need to make dog walker, neighbor, or doggie daycare arrangements. We discourage the adoption of puppies to families with children under the age of six, since puppies will chew toys, shoes, blankets, hands, feet, and other important parts of your child's anatomy.

LUNA Attributes Dog Friendly Fence jumper Good on car rides Good with kids - over 4 years old High energy Likes to dig  Playful  Requires a fence Snuggly Working on house training Not best for apartments Will potty on leash Luna is a 10-month-old beagle mix girl weighing 30 pounds. She is very energetic, playful, happy, and affectionate. Luna wants to be everybody's friend! She loves people and enjoys being the center of attention. Luna is young and athletic. She is good with other dogs and enjoys running and playing with canine friends. She loves stuffed toys, balls, bones, sticks, and rocks (yes rocks). Luna is smart and is quickly learning her new foster home. She is learning basic commands like Down and Sit but can still be jumpy and mouthy like a puppy when excited. She has long legs and can run fast and can easily jump a 3-foot fence or gate. While Luna enjoys plenty of activity, she also likes to relax and cuddle with her people. Luna is relatively quiet but is known to bark and howl when she gets excited or hears a strange sound. An ideal home for Luna is one with an active family committed to ensuring she receives the attention, exercise, and playtime she needs and that she receives the love and affection that she deserves. She would also love a canine sibling and a fenced yard to run around. Luna would be a great companion on outings with her new family, hiking, long walks, running, and car rides. She's overall a well-rounded young girl. NOTE: The dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI). Story
CHARLIE TOO Attributes: Dog friendly Housetrained Crate trained Good on car rides Medium energy Snuggly Meet Charlie Too! Charlie Too is a charming 2-year-old, 32-pound male beagle with an affectionate and playful spirit. He is a medium to high-energy level boy. Charlie is a social butterfly, always eager to meet new people and dogs. No one is a stranger to him, and he greets everyone with a wagging tail and plenty of love. This sweet boy thrives on companionship and will follow his humans everywhere, often sneaking in cuddles and affectionate jumps (a behavior he's working on, especially around kids). He's crate-trained and comfortable spending time in his crate, although he might get a little sad when left alone. If he gets bored, his mischievous side can emerge, but it's all part of his lovable personality. Charlie loves chewing on bones, playing with toys, and gobbling up every bite of his meals. He knows how to sit and is housetrained, but he's still learning to curb his counter-surfing habits and improve his leash manners during walks. With his playful energy, big heart, and endless cuddles, Charlie Too is ready to bring joy and laughter to his forever home. If you're looking for a loyal, loving companion, Charlie Too might just be the perfect match! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
JERRY Attributes: Good with kids over 4 Medium energy Dog friendly House-trained Needs a fence Hello, I'm Jerry! I am 9 or 10 years old, and I was neglected before I came to Midwest BREW. I lived outside, either on a chain or in a kennel, for my whole life, and I never knew what it was like to be part of someone’s family. I've learned how to be an inside dog, and my foster mom said I have done well. I haven’t had any accidents, except for one time while I was on medication, and she said that wasn’t my fault. I'm a healthy beagle now. I was underweight and had heartworms, but my foster mom and the vets have all helped me get better. I’m around 35 pounds now, and the vet says that it’s a good weight for me. I did have some flaky, itchy skin for a while, but I get fish oil in my food now and my fur is so soft! I LOVE to snuggle on the couch with my people, with the other dogs in the house, or even on the couch without anyone else. I am a low- to medium-energy boy. Most of the time, I am content to nap, but I usually get some daily zoomies for a bit. The dogs at my foster house don’t like to play, but I keep trying to get them to play anyway. Sometimes they play and it’s fun. If they don’t play, I can entertain myself. I like to throw my toys and then chase after them. My foster family also plays fetch with me, and it’s a great time. I can run fast. I would love to find a home where I have another dog to play with! I do have some serious kennel anxiety, and a little separation anxiety as well. I have chewed through a muzzle and a kennel, even with medications to help me. I will need a home where I can have some space to move around if I’m home alone – either a gate or a playpen should work. The Foster mom uses pet gates and those seem to work ok. I like to explore the house, so it’s important to keep things put away where I can’t get to them. I am really good with older kids, but haven't been around little ones. My foster mom isn't sure about how I will do with cats either. I sleep really heavily, so I bark if I’m surprised when I wake up. I do ok in the car, and I’m getting better about it. I try to wander through the car to sniff everything, but my foster mom keeps me in a harness so I stay safe. I like to say hello to people who walk past my yard outside, and I like to bark a little when I get excited – like right before I get my dinner. Foster mom tells me to be quiet, and I am good about stopping after that. I’m just so excited for everything! I’m a gentle, sweet boy who just wants to find my furever home. If you want to know more about me, please talk to Midwest BREW! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).
