Story
Lickerish and her sister, Cat Benatar, are looking for a home together. They have grown up at the shelter and have now been in a kennel for over 2 years. They have not had an opportunity to run or be normal cats. Despite this, they are constantly snuggling, grooming each other and playing in the small space they have. The reason these two are still waiting for a home is twofold: Lickerish has feline leukemia, which means she will have a severely limited lifespan. Somehow, Cat Benatar has tested negative thus far. As she has been exposed, she will have a higher likelihood of developing it at some point. These cats are so connected and bonded that we are choosing to keep them together, despite knowing that Lickerish has feline leukemia. The second part of the reason they are still at the shelter is because they are shy. With people they know, Lickerish is a lap cat and loves a good butt scratch. Cat Benatar plays a little harder to get but she'll circle and meow with bright eyes and such sincerity. They will need someone who can give them time to allow themselves to be who they are; they may always love each other more than they would love a human. We would love for them to find a home, especially as Lickerish is on borrowed time. Even a foster would be a step-up for them where they could live comfortably in a spare bedroom and at least have space to run around and properly play. They should be in a home without other cats or with other feline leukemia positive cats.

Story
Alright y’all. We have another odd couple that are looking for a home together. CJ is a petite little tortie with striking green eyes. She’s darling and she will follow her people around from room to room. She was previously very anti-humans, but has now decided she actually really likes petting. She won’t tolerate being picked up (yet) but she will likely continue to make strides.CJ befriended a cat at the shelter named Mel, one of our longest inhabitants. Mel also decided he likes humans, which is a new-ish revelation. He will allow himself to be held and loves/seeks out affection. He has a permanent grump face but we love him for it.These two fell in love. They’re often seen canoodling in the fluffy beds around the shelter or grooming each other to the point of PDA. They will need someone who doesn’t want lap cats. They’ll need a patient and understanding home and definitely someone cat savvy. These cats will likely continue to thrive in a home, but we want to make sure they stay together. An apartment or a home doesn’t matter to them: just each other.

Story
Homer, or Homie as he's affectionately known as, is an absolute troublemaker. He has two speeds: sleeping in the most ridiculous positions or throwing his oversized body around like a wrecking ball. His favorite artist is Miley Cyrus since he always comes in like a wrecking ball. He lives and breathes for catnip and that's truly the way to his heart. He thinks human affection is just so-so but likes to be around people. His favorite time to receive attention from you is while you are using your computer, by standing directly on your keyboard. If he were a human, he'd be an introvert who wants to be invited to social events but always declines going to them. He does have a history of overgrooming which has greatly improved since he's now semi-free range. He would likely do fine with big dogs in a household but he can be a real bully to smaller creatures.

Story
Here is Reece Whiskerspoon. She's been in foster since January. she was feral but now her foster mom can pet her and pick her up. This is huge progress with Reese Whiskerspoon. She is looking for a human who has a BIG heart and patience to give her the time she needs to open up and lots of love. Will you give her a chance today?Update from fosterer 2/19/24: “Reece was pretty much totally feral a year ago. By providing her with a safe space (my walk-in closet with a bed) I can now pet her. She will lay on the floor and let you pet her belly. I've even been able to pick her up a few times but the last time she popped me (I think I startled her). She needs someone who can give her space. She gets along with her kittens that I fostered failed. I'm working with socializing her with my other cats. I would love for her to find a loving home who will love her on her terms. Until that happens, I will continue working with her on trusting humans.”

Story
Great things really do come in small packages! Mystical is a recovering shy girl and has really made progress to gain the confidence needed to come up to her human and ask for pets. She still has her shy tendencies but now has no shame in asking for belly or butt scratches, and is so incredibly happy when she gets them. Mystical is just a small girl all around, with her short legs and itty bitty meows she is often overlooked, but her capacity to overcome her shyness to find the love she craves has been astounding. Mystical is ready for a loving human connection and has been dutifully working on her human interactions, but will still need a little time and a little grace to be fully confident in her surroundings. I see her becoming the best loving companion in no time if given the time and connection she craves. Mystical has started showing her spunky side and loves playing with her bestie, and fellow adoptable cat, Nimporio. Coming from a hoarding house, Mystical has never been without a feline friend and will need one in her new home to keep her company. She pays dogs no mind so she may be ok with a canine friend as well. Mystical is polite with her teeth and claws, she honestly doesn’t have a single mean bone in her body. She would like a quiet home with her feline friend(s) and her favorite humans. Mystical can be found in her favorite cat bed or by the window watching the birds pass by. She is honestly one of the sweetest fosters I have had and you can feel the need for love and human connection every time you look into her eyes. Her personality is starting to shine through and I cant believe no one has snatched her up yet. Mystical will be your best work from home buddy and will never let you feel lonely while she is around, if you are looking for a companion that will bring light into your soul, this one is it. A little about Mystical: - Mystical loves butt pats, I mean, REALLY loves them. She will chatter at you every time you stop.- Mystical loves to be combed, its her happy place.- She loves watching the birds out the window and can be seen chattering at them for hours on end.Mystical is in a foster home. If you’re interested in meeting her please submit an application on our website under the adopt tab. Email adopt@souldog.org with any questions!

Story
Who are our Working Cats? Some cats are not social enough to live as indoor pets, and prefer an independent lifestyle. These cats have experience living outdoors and are proficient mousers. Since these kitties are happier and more successful outdoors, we put them to work in homes, farms, and businesses where they can do what they do best. All our blue collar kitties are spayed/neutered, FIV/FeLV negative, ear tipped, and fully vaccinated. Why hire a Working Cat? By hiring a blue collar kitty, you can avoid using toxic pesticides, save money on a pest control service, and provide a home to a cat in need. Adoption fees are waived for our Working Cats. Cats are also more effective than other methods of pest control because they act as a deterrent! If you are interested in adopting a Working Cat, please visit the shelter in person to start the process.
