Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog J:6Some dogs are born for the spotlight, and some—like Gazebo—prefer a quieter, more thoughtful approach to love. This 3-year-old Labrador mix may take a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, you’ll see the tender, gentle soul beneath his cautious exterior. Gazebo’s Unique Charm: A Sensitive Soul – He’s still figuring out the world, but with patience (and plenty of treats), he’ll blossom in a loving home. Treat Motivated – The way to his heart? Tasty snacks and a little encouragement! ‍Polite Walker – Navigates the world at his own pace, with some hesitation but plenty of potential. Independent in Playgroups – Prefers hanging out at his own speed but is open to well-matched dog friends. Escape Artist in Training? – A securely fenced yard is a must for this curious boy! Gazebo is looking for an adopter who understands that trust takes time. He’d thrive in a patient, quiet home where he can build confidence at his own pace. Could you be the steady, loving presence he needs? Come meet Gazebo today—he may not demand attention, but once he lets you in, he’ll steal your heart.March 11, 2025, 12:31 pm

I am in a foster home and not at the shelter. If you are interested in adopting, submit an adoption questionnaire by email. Learn more hereTasha is a 2-year-old, 67-pound lab/pittie mix with a heart as big as her goofy personality! This silly girl is a total lovebug—she adores her people, greets them with a thumping tail, and will gladly trade slobbery kisses for belly rubs. She’s learning that cuddles and playtime are two different things, but sometimes she just can’t contain her excitement! She's great at playing fetch and is also a champion toy de-stuffer, believing every squeaker must be liberated. Tasha is smart and food-motivated, quickly picking up ‘sit’ and ‘come,’ and is working crate training. Like many young dogs, she loves to chew. She’s learning what’s okay to gnaw on with the help of sturdy toys, and with continued training, she’ll be a pro in no time. At the shelter, Tasha kept to herself when meeting other dogs; she’d do well as a solo pup or with well-matched dog friends. In her foster home, she’s still figuring out how she feels about the resident cats (sometimes they’re cuddle buddies, sometimes they’re too fun to chase), so slow introductions would be best. If you’re looking for a slightly mischievous best friend who will keep you laughing and snuggle up next to you after a long day, Tasha just might be a match! Story
(born May '22, 60-lbs) I adopted Frankie from a family when she was a year old - she was so calm! She is unfazed by fireworks, garbage trucks, or my gardener with his noisy tools. At the dog park, she loves to race a dog running after a ball but she could care less about the ball; you cannot hope to give her exercise by throwing a ball to fetch. She is great with other dogs, my young grand kids, and strangers, men and women. She loves going to the dog park, is great walking on leash around the neighborhood, and riding in the car. She is a very social dog but I have left her home alone for up to six hours with no problems. Periodically, Frankie goes to the sitter who has 3 or 4 other dogs; Frankie comes home happy & exhausted. In October she stayed with her sitter for two weeks. My daughter's 12-year-old, 20-pound dog visits frequently and the two are pals. Frankie is smart, curious, & independent. Frankie needs a bigger family - adults, teens and another dog would be great!

Story
Lab Mix Male, neutered 35 lbs Adoption Fee: $125 (includes spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations) Levi was picked up as a stray in Stockton, CA. One of his front legs had an elbow fracture that wasn’t attended to. The tendons were seized up in the fracture, so he couldn’t move his other joint either. The vets think he was probably hit by a car about a month before going to the animal shelter. He wasn’t well cared for before arriving at the shelter, but he was still the sweetest dog - loving everybody. Because of his bad leg, he needed a rescue group to take him in, so the shelter called us. Once he had his leg amputated, he became a whole new dog - loving the freedom of not having to lug around that useless limb. Unfortunately, he has osteoarthritis in his hips. The surgeon thinks his previous injury damaged the blood supply to his hips. He needs to stay thin and active with low impact exercise. Luckily, he loves to get daily exercise! Watching him run around, you wouldn’t guess that he has hip issues. He will be need to on lifelong arthritis treatment. He currently gets monthly injections of Librela and Adequan and a daily joint supplement. No surgery is recommended on his hips at this time. Levi loves going for walks and going jogging. He is leash reactive when other dogs are close, but when they are across the street, he doesn't react and has learned "look" to get a treat and focus on his foster mom. He currently wears a muzzle while out for walks for when a close encounter is unavoidable and he does well with it on. Levi lived with a large dog in his foster home for eight months and was great with him. He would do well being the only pet or living with the right dog with slow introductions. Levi entertains himself with chew toys and stuffed Kongs when he's home alone and does well by himself. Fetch is Levi's favorite game in the backyard and the house and he is good about bringing it back and dropping it. At home care is easy with Levi, as he allows ear cleaning, nail clipping, brushing, teeth brushing, monthly injections and getting a bath with no problems. He loves to cuddle up next to people on the couch and in bed. He has met a lot of strangers of all ages and does very well with everyone. Bikes, skateboards, canes, hats, etc. don't bother him. Levi is potty trained using a dog door. Levi has shown some prey drive tendencies in the backyard, so he probably wouldn't do well in a home with cats. He also shows some barrier reactivity with the neighbor's dog, and is still working on that behavior. If you are looking for a super sweet, smart, resilient dog and are up for continuing his training and arthritis meds, Levi might be the dog for you. He is also a great watch dog. Please note that we don’t adopt any of our dogs out to homes with children under the age of 13. For more information about Levi, contact: nobodysperfektdogs@gmail.com

Zuma is a loving and sweet girl! She is good with people, gentle with children, and does well with other dogs. She is doing well in her foster home and ready for her forever home. Zuma started some leash training and is learning at a good pace. She is crate-trained and doing well on her housetraining. She rides well in the car and can wait patiently while her foster mom runs errands. Zuma is a wonderful dog and will make a good family dog. Zuma’s Rescue Story Zuma was rescued from a government shelter before her time was up. Shelters across the island were completely full and every week, there is a list of dogs that will be thrown back to the streets to live as homeless dogs. A kind volunteer reached out to an experienced international rescue organization to help save them. The founder of the rescue organization has over 180 dogs waiting for homes. However, she could not bear to see them going back to the streets to suffer. She agreed to take them home and give them a chance in life. Zuma had a thorough medical checkup. She had been spayed, vaccinated, microchip, and passed negative on her blood tests. Please give Zuma a loving home where she will never be left behind again. NAME: MEADOW GENDER: FEMALE BREED: FORMOSAN MOUNTAIN DOG MIX COLOR: BLACK AGE: 7 YEARS OLD WEIGHT: 36lbs SPAY OR NEUTER: Yes MICROCHIP: Yes If you would like to give MEADOW by a forever home, please go to www.adoptadoggie.org to fill out an online application with home photos. Meadow is a sweet and shy girl! Meadow has a rough start in life, she needs some time to adjust to her new home. However, once she is settled, she is loving to her humans. Meadow has completed training classes with the head trainer at Cooperhaus K9. As you can see from her videos she is obedience trained. She is crate-trained and housetrained as well. Meadow rides well in the car and enjoys some outdoor adventures. She can be home alone as she is not destructive. Meadow does well with other dogs big and small. We are looking for a patient family to love Meadow and continue training with Cooperhaus K9. She is one smart girl and will be proud to show you how much she has learned. Meadow’s Rescue Story Meadow was originally rescued from the streets along with her littermates. All of them found loving homes and are doing well. Unfortunately, after 6 years with the only family she knew, she was surrendered back. Her original family grew and with young children, she was not a good match anymore. Poor girl was confused and sad that she had to leave the humans she loved so much. We couldn’t see her end up in shelters and not knowing where she will end up. We decided to help her and enrolled her at Cooperhaus K9’s board and train program. Meadow has finished her training classes and is now ready for her new forever home. Meadow had a thorough medical checkup. She had been spayed, vaccinated, microchip, and passed negative on her blood tests. Please give Meadow a loving home where she will never be left behind again.
