Story
Meet Mars – an adorable 14-week-old black Labrador puppy who is sure to steal your heart. Rescued from a local shelter where he and his siblings were found as strays, Mars now awaits his forever home with a personality that's as charming as his appearance. With a sleek black coat, long legs, and irresistibly big, floppy ears, he truly stands out from the crowd. Currently weighing about 22 lbs and projected to grow into a handsome 50-70 lb adult, Mars boasts a wonderful overall demeanor. He’s gentle, easygoing, and goes with the flow. While he isn’t house trained yet, his food-motivated nature makes him incredibly receptive to training, meaning he’ll pick up good habits quickly with the right guidance. Mars loves to play and would thrive in a home that offers plenty of exercise and fun. He especially enjoys the company of other dogs, so a family with a pet companion would be ideal. A spacious yard is a must for him, as it would provide the room he needs to run, play, and explore – making apartments less suitable. If you're a Lab lover ready to invest in training and shower this sweet, playful, and eager-to-learn puppy with love, Mars could be the perfect addition to your family. Reach out today and start a wonderful new chapter with this delightful, food-motivated little guy! Ready to bring home your new furry companion? Submit an application using the link below, and our team will carefully review it to determine if you’re the right match for the dog you’re interested in. If your application is a good fit, the foster parent will reach out to schedule a meet-and-greet or request additional information. The first step of the process is submitting the application, no meet and greet can happen without this being completed. Our dogs are all in foster homes all over the Bay Area from Sacramento to San Jose. Most meets happen at the fosters home. Please make sure the entire family is on board and ready to adopt. Most dogs can go home the same day as the meet and greet. All resident dogs and family must be present. If this pup isn’t the perfect match, don’t worry. We’ll provide feedback and suggest alternative matches if possible. Your application remains active for 90 days, so you can still be considered for other dogs in our care. If another pup catches your eye within that period, just email us to have your application applied to a different dog. Apply Now For application updates, forwarding requests, or any questions, contact us at adopt@underdogca.com. This is also the best way to submit additional documents or information. Story
Lab lovers, where are you? Meet Bixby! This stunning all-black Lab is ready to find his forever home! Bixby came to us as a stray from a local shelter, but his luck has turned around—he’s now thriving in foster care and winning hearts everywhere he goes. With his goofy, easygoing personality, Bixby is the perfect mix of playful and affectionate. He’s great with dogs, does well with cats, and would make an incredible family dog or adventure buddy. At around 24 pounds now, he’s expected to grow into a tall, lean, and athletic 60-pound pup. He is 4.5mo old now and ready for a family. Like any Lab, food is the way to his heart, which will make training, socialization, and bonding a breeze! He’s working on house and crate training and is eager to learn. Help us find Bixby the loving home he deserves—share his story far and wide! Could he be the perfect fit for you? Ready to bring home your new furry companion? Story
(born May '22, 60-lbs) I adopted Frankie from a family when she was a year old - she was so calm! She is unfazed by fireworks, garbage trucks, or my gardener with his noisy tools. At the dog park, she loves to race a dog running after a ball but she could care less about the ball; you cannot hope to give her exercise by throwing a ball to fetch. She is great with other dogs, my young grand kids, and strangers, men and women. She loves going to the dog park, is great walking on leash around the neighborhood, and riding in the car. She is a very social dog but I have left her home alone for up to six hours with no problems. Periodically, Frankie goes to the sitter who has 3 or 4 other dogs; Frankie comes home happy & exhausted. In October she stayed with her sitter for two weeks. My daughter's 12-year-old, 20-pound dog visits frequently and the two are pals. Frankie is smart, curious, & independent. Frankie needs a bigger family - adults, teens and another dog would be great!

Story
I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog J:6Some dogs are born for the spotlight, and some—like Gazebo—prefer a quieter, more thoughtful approach to love. This 3-year-old Labrador mix may take a little time to warm up, but once he trusts you, you’ll see the tender, gentle soul beneath his cautious exterior. Gazebo’s Unique Charm: A Sensitive Soul – He’s still figuring out the world, but with patience (and plenty of treats), he’ll blossom in a loving home. Treat Motivated – The way to his heart? Tasty snacks and a little encouragement! ‍Polite Walker – Navigates the world at his own pace, with some hesitation but plenty of potential. Independent in Playgroups – Prefers hanging out at his own speed but is open to well-matched dog friends. Escape Artist in Training? – A securely fenced yard is a must for this curious boy! Gazebo is looking for an adopter who understands that trust takes time. He’d thrive in a patient, quiet home where he can build confidence at his own pace. Could you be the steady, loving presence he needs? Come meet Gazebo today—he may not demand attention, but once he lets you in, he’ll steal your heart.March 11, 2025, 12:31 pm
