Story
Bagels a one year old dog born December 6 2023. He’s very sweet loves cuddles. He’s shy around new people and still needs more socializing with others. Protective and a good cuddle buddy. His shots are up to date and I have his pedigree to show he’s purebred. I just want him to have a good and loving home. Everyone he’s met loves him and he brings happiness to everyone he meets. He is crate, house, potty trained and knows how to open doors.

Story
This is Stormy. She is the sweetest dog ever and was rescued from Washington State. I was discharged from the military and had to move into a very small place with no room for her to move around. She really needs to play and be a happy dog. I love her so I will ensure she goes to a good home.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cuddly Pal Rodrick is a 55lb Lab/Weimaraner mix. Rodrick is such a sweet pal of a dog! He loves playing with his 4-legged sister, watching sports while snuggling on the couch, taking walks in the neighborhood and local parks, long car rides, and hanging out while his foster dad works on his computer.   He has learned that "Sit" is a great default position and he is working on learning his name for recall as well as "Place" and "Down". Rodrick is an enthusiastic learner and shines as he strives to please his human friends!   We do not know why Rodrick landed in the shelter, but he is still learning to be trusting of the world and of strangers. Moments of chaos or surprising appearances of unknown people are very stressful for Rodrick. While on leash he is also unsure about other dogs, bicycles, skateboards or runners. He is working with his foster dad and a trainer to work on his reactivity and learn to trust new people and has made good progress in the past month.   Rodrick is seeking a home where there is some predictability and a calm environment. He connects deeply with a few people, and needs slow introductions to new people. SVPP is working with a trainer and helping Rodrick to learn that he can be safe when the unexpected happens. Continuing training support will be provided to his adopter. SVPP thanks Alec Khanna photography for assistance in taking photos of our adoptable pets. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Happiest of pups!Sunny is an approximately 2 year-old, 41lb Labrador Retriever/Cardigan Welsh Corgi mix.  Sunny is the sweetest of young boys! He gets on well with most dogs, has excellent dog play skills, and loves to meet new people. To understand what a Lab/Corgi mix looks like, just think of your favorite Yellow Lab, just about 8 inches shorter! He has all the great qualities of a Lab and a Corgi in a nice, compact package. Sunny is both house trained and crate trained. This smart cookie is also VERY food motivated and loves to learn new behaviors. He is working on his leash walking and training with a professional trainer who takes him all over San Jose to practice those skills.  We don't know Sunny's background, but he has let us know that he is sensitive to handling and does not like to be grabbed suddenly, pushed into a corner, or handled roughly. He will do best in a family who can respect his limits and will continue to work with a positive reinforcement trainer to help Sunny desensitize. Sunny will thrive in a home with people who love to be active with their dogs and he would love to have a 4-legged sibling who can match his zest for life and play!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 9, 2025, 2:34 pm

02/19/25 10:56What did we do on today’s adventure: What a day! When the car door opened, I saw that it was full of squeaky toys! Ihopped in right away, picked my favorite one, sat down and squeaked away!Once we got to the trail, I had to be coaxed out of the car, because, really, I kinda wanted to take all the squeaky toys with us, but the human picked onethat we would take with us, and then off we went!I trotted along, sniffing every tree, rock, and leaf. Sometimes, I got a little tenseseeing another dog on the trail, but we gave them a wide berth and I washappily distracted by the human feeding me treats! I was very happy on this walk - we ran into some parts where we had to crossthis huge river (akavery large puddle). I just ran and splashed right throughand then I was so proud, I asked the human for a treat for my effort, which Iheartily ate.The best part? After the hike, I hopped right back into the car like a pro, readyto squeak my toys to my heart’s content. What should potential adopters know about me: Gustav is quick to engage with you. His trust in you is instant, eventhough I set things up in the car to make sure he had a good supplyof squeaky toys. He was completely quiet and calm in the car goingto and from the trail. He is reactive to seeing other dogs on leash, butif you give them a wide berth and help Gustav along with some treatsor a toy - he’ll follow you. Walking, he’s a 9/10 - minus the ‘reactingto other dogs’ factor. He checked in regularly with me and Imanaged to get a few kisses after water breaks. Sometimes he camein just to get petted. Gustav is a really sweet dog and is a happy-go-lucky guy – he’ll make a great and loving companion for his fureverfamily.Three words to describe me: Sweet, Gentle, Friendly11/20/24 06:51Dog Day Out ReportToday I: went to the Guadalupe River Trail with my friend and had a loooong walk, sniffing a ton of interesting scents! I spotted birds, geese, ducks, and more. Toward the end, I got a pup cup, and it was so much fun!Three Words to Describe Me are: Affectionate, Gentle, FriendlyNotes from My Walker: Gustav is a handsome older gentleman at the San Jose Animal Care Center. He’s gentle, affectionate, and friendly with everyone. I took him to the Guadalupe River Trail, and we had a fantastic time!I leashed and harnessed him with treats in the side yard at the end of my volunteer shift, just like usual. He was super easy—actual

Lala is a certified Canine Good Citizen! She is smart, loyal and very responsive 2 year old , 65 lbs Shepherd mix (could be purebred Anatolian).  She is spayed and housebroken.  Lala loves the outdoors and is always ready for a walk be it in the busy neighborhood streets or park.  She walks gently on a loose leash and always checks in with her human, should it be a dog or loud garbage truck pass her.  Lala has basic obedience training and can stay in her "place" for more than 30 seconds, even when the human goes out of sight.   She enjoys puzzle toys and the kong and is very treat motivated, making training an enjoyable experience for all. Lala loves playtime with other fur friends and humans of all ages. Lala would thrive in a home that offers her both physical and mental stimulation- walks, puzzle toys, tricks, doggy playdates. Lala prefers lounging free when her humans have to leave her alone.  Lala has completed a training program in Basic Obedience and Manners at Oriondogtraining.com and passed the AKC Canine Good Citizen test! Lala is a very social dog and loves everyone she meets. She will be perfect for a family with children and other dogs. She does have higher prey drive so no kitties. Gravy was rescued from the shelter with her sister, Biscuit. We don’t know how they landed in the shelter but we promised to find them the best forever homes in the world. We expect they will be in the medium range when they reach their adult weight. If you’re in the mood for a tasty treat, adopt Miss Gravy!      Gravy is an affectionate and playful puppy who can’t wait to take on the world with her people. She is super smart and food motivated which means training will be a blast. Gravy has never met a stranger she hasn’t charmed effortlessly and we know she will be the star of every park she enters. Gravy thinks she’s a total lapdog and even though she’s getting a bit too big for laps, she’s so darn cute we can’t bear to burst her bubble. Gravy loves playing with her toys and her humans and will happily race around for hours. She would be an amazing addition to an active home who wants to go on adventures with a furry friend! She will give you so many kisses you’ll be able to take them to the bank! We are looking for homes who are prepared to take on all that is large breed puppyhood. Those who know Lab mixes will know how incredible she will be as she grows up. With her floppy ears and her puppy dog eyes, you’ll fall in love with Gravy from the minute you meet her!  Gravy wakes up at 7 AM and enjoys some playtime before she has her breakfast. She plays in the front yard of her foster home for an hour or so with her sister and her toys before coming inside for a long nap. She has a light lunch followed by some playtime and cuddles. This cycle repeats for the rest of the afternoon until dinner around 7 PM. In the evening, she plays some more until she’s all tired and ready for bed in her pen.  Gravy has been well socialized with dogs of varying ages and sizes. She would love a playful companion in her forever home. Interested homes should be prepared to discuss continued training and socialization plans. She adores humans of all ages and would be an amazing addition to any home. We can’t wait for Gravy to find her buttery forever home!      Gravy is only an option for homes who have owned a dog of their own in the last 5 years. Kids should be over the age of 6.March 21, 2025, 7:36 pm

The Lunar Puppies were named in honor of the Chinese New Year, a celebration of new beginnings, luck, and—of course—little dragons! One by one, Luna’s brothers found their forever homes, leaving this sweet, cuddly, and playful girl as the last little dragon standing. But don’t worry—she’s been saving all her love, zoomies, and puppy kisses just for you! At 13-14 weeks old, Luna is a Lab/Pit mix with a heart as big as the moon she’s named after. She’s the perfect blend of playful and snuggly, always up for a romp in the yard but just as happy curling up for cuddles afterward. With a gentle, intelligent nature, she’s a pup who loves to learn, loves her people, and absolutely loves belly rubs. A Day in the Life of a Little Dragon 7:00 AM – Rise and shine! Luna starts the day with a big stretch, a happy tail wag, and a trip outside for breakfast and zoomies. She zips around the yard, collecting sticks, chasing invisible butterflies, and making sure the world knows she’s awake and ready for fun! 9:00 AM – After all that excitement, it’s time for a power nap. Snuggled up in a cozy spot, Luna dreams of treats, belly rubs, and future best friends. 12:00 PM – Lunchtime! After eating, she plays quietly with her toys, practicing her expert-level skills in stuffie-wrestling and chew-bone gnawing. 3:00 PM – The kids get home—hooray! This means more playtime, more attention, and more love! She thrives on social time and adores every person she meets. 6:00 PM – Dinner is served, followed by one last evening adventure in the yard. She watches the sunset, contemplates the meaning of life (or maybe just the next treat), and gets in some final wiggles before winding down. 10:00 PM – Bedtime! Luna snuggles up in her cozy playpen, dreaming of the adventures tomorrow will bring. Why Luna is Out of This World Amazing Super social – Raised in a foster home full of kids, cats, and even birds, Luna is well-adjusted, friendly, and ready to fit right into your family! Smart and sweet – She’s already pee-pad trained in her pen and learning to potty outside. With her eager-to-please personality, she’ll be a training superstar in no time! The perfect balance – Playful, but not hyper. Affectionate, but not overly needy. She’s got that just-right puppy energy that makes her a joy to be around. Cuddle prodigy – After a long day of fun, Luna transforms into a snuggle champion, happy to curl up next to you for a nap. The Forever Home She’s Wishing For Luna is looking for a family that will cherish her puppyhood, continue her training, and give her all the love she deserves. She’ll be a medium-sized dog when fully grown and will thrive in a home that enjoys both adventure and snuggles. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption fee: $500 *Egg is an option for Foster-to-Adopt!* Meet Egg – A Resilient Mama Ready for Her Forever Home! Egg’s journey hasn't been an easy one. This 1-2 year old, 27 lb (mini) Lab/Italian Greyhound type mix was rescued from the streets while heavily pregnant, bravely giving birth to seven healthy puppies in our care. Now that her babies have been weaned and are almost ready for adoption, it’s Egg’s turn to experience the love and security she’s always deserved. When first meeting new people, Egg can be unsure, but typically within only an hour or two, she’s taking treats (she's a foodie!) and approaching for pets. She’s looking for a family that understands she needs time to warm up—but once she trusts you, she’s incredibly affectionate and loves belly rubs and ear scratches! She'll happily snuggle with you on the couch and keep you company while you work from home. Egg is still learning how to be a dog, and she’s making great progress in her foster home. She thrives on routine and enjoys spending time in her x-pen where she can observe her people. She is a big fan of bully sticks and other chews and will contentedly chill there while her foster works. She’s quiet and content as long as she can see her human, but she does get a bit anxious when left alone. She’s had a lot of transition in a short time, so insecurity is to be expected! This girl loves to run! (Must be the greyhound side of her!) Whether she’s chasing a ball or zooming around the yard like a jackrabbit, she has energy to burn. She enjoys three long walks a day and is a curious little “metal detector” on leash, zigzagging to sniff everything. She’s good at passing people and dogs on walks but can be wary of sudden noises or fast-moving objects like bikes and skateboards. Given that she came from a remote area, this isn’t surprising! Egg will bond strongly to one human and it will then take bit more time for others to win her over. She’s making progress with structure and consistency. She may be a great fit for a home with a calm, confident dog who can help her learn the ropes, but she could also thrive as the only pet. She has lived with a cat in her foster home and can coexist peacefully, though slow introductions are key. Due to her initial fears, Egg is best suited for an adult home or one with dog-savvy teens who can respect her need for space as she adjusts. Egg will eagerly reward her future family with loyalty, devotion, and plenty of goofy zoomies. If you’re looking for a dog with a heart full of potential and a story of resilience, Egg might just be the perfect addition to your home. Could you be the one to give Egg the safe, loving forever home she’s been waiting for?  March 21, 2025, 7:36 pm

The Egg puppies are a delightful batch of 8 week old miniature Labrador Retriever mix pups, possibly with a dash of something small (maybe Italian Greyhound—or let’s not beat around the whisk, it could be anything… Mom is just 27 lbs!). These little egglets are cracking up with excitement to make their menu debut and find their forever homes! This litter came to us at only 4 days old with Mama Egg, who gave birth in the yard of an amazing lifesaver. We took the family in, and life got scrambling from there! With 4 boys and 4 girls, each cuter than the last, we expect these pups to reach about 25-35 pounds when fully grown. If you’re ready for a dish full of kisses and love, come to our Egg Bar today! Meet the Egg-ceptional Puppies: Benedict (M): Benedict is the big brother of the litter, and he takes his role very seriously—like a true Eggs-ecutive! He perches at the top of the puppy pile like a poached prince, keeping a watchful eye over his siblings. First one out the door in the morning, he’s always egg-cited to lead new adventures. But don’t let his confidence fool you—he’s a total soft-boiled sweetheart who will melt in your arms for snuggles. If you’re looking for a loyal best friend who will always be sunny-side-up in your life, Benedict is your guy! Hard Boiled (F): Don’t let the name fool you—Hard Boiled is as soft and lovable as they come! She’s got a heart as warm as a perfectly cooked yolk and a sense of adventure that keeps her bouncing from one discovery to the next. When she’s not playfully romping around with her siblings, she’s cracking up her foster family with her goofy antics. And after all that fun, she’s always ready to curl up for some shell-tered snuggles. If you’re looking for the best of both worlds—playful and affectionate—Hard Boiled is the perfect choice! Omelet (M): Omelet is proof that good things come in small packages! This little egghead is a tiny dynamo, always stirring up fun and whisking his siblings into playful chaos. Whether he’s pouncing on toys or sneaking into laps for an Eggs-tra cuddle, he’s got a way of making every moment egg-stra special. When playtime is over, Omelet enjoys a good, cozy nap—curled up like the fluffiest, warmest breakfast dish you’ve ever seen. Ready to add some flavor to your life? Omelet is ready to be served! Over Easy (M): With his soulful blue eyes and egg-ceptionally gentle nature, Over Easy is the cuddle king of the litter. He’s the first to flop into your lap for love and the last to leave, soaking up every bit of attention like a warm, buttery biscuit. He’s also got a love for adventure and isn’t afraid to get a little scrambled in the mud! His signature move? Placing a paw on your arm like he’s ordering extra snuggles—because he knows you can’t resist. If you’re looking for a puppy who will always keep things warm and cozy, Over Easy is ready to slide right into your heart. Poached (M): This little guy is always up to something! Poached is an eggs-pert at hide and seek, though his ever-wagging tail usually gives him away. He’s got a way of cracking up everyone he meets, whether it’s with his zoomies, his goofy expressions, or his habit of sneaking off with socks. With a heart full of playfulness and a nose for adventure, Poached is ready to scramble into a fun-loving home that will keep up with his playful energy. Don’t miss your chance to poach this little treasure! Scrambled (F): Scrambled is an absolute hoot—always on the go, always making people laugh, and always the star of the show! With her stunning blue eyes and wiggly, wacky personality, she knows how to ham it up for the camera. She loves zooming around with toys in her mouth, tossing them in the air, and making sure everyone is watching her latest performance. If you’re looking for a dog who will keep you entertained, keep you on your toes, and fill your life with joy, Scrambled is the perfect addition to your plate! Sunny Side Up (F): Sunny is pure sunshine in puppy form. A cuddle bug through and through, she lives for belly rubs and basking in attention. If she feels like she’s not getting enough love, she’ll flop onto her back like a perfectly cooked egg, waiting for the adoration she knows she deserves. With her sweet personality and irresistible puppy dog eyes, she’s destined to be the center of attention everywhere she goes. If you’re ready for a daily dose of sunshine, let Sunny Side Up brighten your world! A Day in the Life of the Egg Puppies: The puppies start their day at 7 AM, scrambling outside for potty time before returning for breakfast and some good old-fashioned puppy wrestling. Throughout the day, they engage in important activities like zoomies, toy thievery, and practicing their best puppy-dog eyes for extra treats. They spend their afternoons alternating between playtime and cozy naps, often piling on top of each other like the cutest omelet you’ve ever seen. In the evening, the house winds down with cuddle sessions, extra kisses, and one last potty break before they nestle into their crate for bedtime, dreaming of their future families. The Egg puppies currently live with a dog and cats, and they think both are absolutely egg-cellent! They love playing with their furry housemates (even if the resident pets aren’t always as egg-cited about it). Whether they’re gently booping the cat with their noses or learning the ropes from the older dog, these little eggs are eager to fit into any loving household. They’ll need continued training and socialization to ensure they grow into well-behaved, happy pups—but with their charm, they’ll crack your heart wide open in no time. If you're ready to bring home a little Egg to love, crack open an adoption application today!    March 22, 2025, 1:54 am

Story
Poppi is an absolute loving dog. Loves to snuggle, well behaved. Gets along with our cat and loves other dogs. 1 problem is Poppi has seizures. Usually once a month. Needs to be cleaned up after a seaizure. We also put in hard wood floors 8 months ago and Poppi is not doing well on them. So adopters should have tile, grippy hard wood, or carpet.
