Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, January 11th from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $800   Eve is a 9 week old Labrador Retriever mix who’s ready to bring endless love to her forever people! Eve was rescued from the shelter on Christmas Eve with her pal Christmas (get it?) by one of our amazing volunteers who gave up family time to save lives. We knew Eve didn’t deserve to spend the holidays alone so we scooped her up and placed her into a foster home just in time for Santa to come down the chimney! Eve weighed only 5 pounds when she came to us but we expect she will be in the 40-50 pound range when she reaches her adult weight. Come ring in the New Year with Miss Eve!      Eve is a confident, loving, and curious puppy who brings out all the best traits of the Lab breed! Eve’s tail never stops wagging as she explores more of the ever-growing world outside her front door. She loves her foster humans and is always following them around, unless she can follow the resident dog! Eve loves playing with anything she can, from her tail to her toys! She would love a playmate in her forever home but could also thrive solo. Like any puppy, she is full of energy and excitement for life, but she knows how to get her nap on as well. Eve would be the perfect companion for adventurous families and she can’t wait to hit the trails and the parks with you! We can see her holding court at the local dog park now like the Queen she is! Eve’s foster mom can’t stop raving about how sweet our gal is, especially when she brings out those puppy dog eyes. She knows how to instantly wrap you around her little paw and make you her loyal subjects for the rest of your life!  Eve wakes up by 7 AM and sniffs her patio potty area before doing her morning business. She eats breakfast at 8 AM and then settles in to start playing with her assortment of toys with her foster sibling. She plays for an hour or so and then takes a nap on her pen to get some energy back. She repeats that process for most of the day, getting frequent cuddles from her foster humans as well. She eats again at 2 PM and 6 PM with trips to the potty pads after each meal. In the evening, she curls up with her foster sibling as she gives out puppy kisses and cuddles. She goes out for one last potty at 10 PM and then heads into her pen for the night. Eve lives with a resident Lab who she loves playing with. She’s a little rascal who is always stealing toys and foster sister lets her have them. Interested homes must be prepared to discuss plans for continued training and socialization to ensure she is a well-rounded adult pup. Ready for some snuggles and cuddles? Meet Eve!      Eve is only an option for homes who have owned a dog in the last 5 years. Kids should be over the age of 5.January 9, 2025, 3:02 am

Story
Meet Misty, a wise and wonderful shepherd lab mix who’s nearing her 15th year. Misty embodies the grace and wisdom that only come with age. She’s spent her life being a loyal companion, and now she’s ready to find a quiet, loving home where she can enjoy her golden years. Like many seniors, Misty has faced a few challenges along the way. She’s a bit wary of strangers, especially when she’s not feeling her best. She is also selective about her doggie friends, sometimes feeling protective of her space or getting frustrated when on a leash. But don’t let that fool you—beneath it all, Misty has a heart of gold. Misty is looking for a special someone who understands the quirks that come with being a senior dog. She thrives in a calm, patient environment where she can relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of life—like a cozy bed, gentle ear rubs, and the warmth of a loving home. If you’re ready to open your heart to a senior dog who has so much love left to give, Misty is waiting to meet you. She may have a few extra needs, but she’ll reward you with endless loyalty and affection. Meet Misty, a wise and wonderful shepherd lab mix who’s nearing her 15th year. Story
Poppy is an adorable young pup who came into rescue with an injured leg. We didn’t know the extent of the injury – would she need surgery? Would she possibly lose the leg? Would the leg recover? Poppy had a consultation with the orthopedic surgeon, and the outlook is good! It’s the type of injury that might heal without surgery, so the plan is 6 weeks of strict rest, and then reassess. If things are on track, no surgery. If the leg is not healing properly, then we’ll move forward with surgery, which is estimated at $8,500 to $9,900, and 10 weeks of cage rest. We’ll know in early October if Poppy will need surgery. Keep your fingers and paws crossed for Poppy! Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Poppy's been up to, check out her posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs. Story
Meet Emmett: Your Goofy, Lovable Best Friend in the Making! If sweet and silly is your kind of vibe, Emmett might just be your dream dog! This lovable goofball is a 1-in-a-million mix of playful energy and laid-back chill. He’s happiest romping around the yard with his foster brothers (two GSPs he gets along with like a champ) or cuddling up close—so close, in fact, that he might “accidentally” bump into you while you’re moving around the house. He hasn’t mastered personal space yet, but we think it just means he really loves being by your side! What Makes Emmett Awesome: Social Superstar: Emmett adores doggy friends and thrives with a canine squad. Whether wrestling, playing tug-of-war, or just lounging together, he’s a team player.Trainable Goof: In just one week, he learned to sit and wait for his food—a sign that his food motivation makes him a training pro. He already knows “sit,” “shake,” and “come,” and he’s ready to keep learning!Easygoing Homebody: While Emmett loves outdoor adventures like yard zoomies and bird-watching, he’s also content to lounge around and relax by your feet while you work. Things to Know About Emmett: Manners in Progress: He’s working on greeting people without jumping (he’s just SO excited to meet everyone!) and learning to steer clear of household items left lying around—so far, only one guitar tuner has met its end.Food Enthusiast: Mealtime is his favorite time of day, and he’s learning to respect his foster siblings’ bowls. Feeding him separately works great while he learns.Best Fit: Emmett’s love for closeness and his goofy clumsiness might make him a better match for families without toddlers or elderly individuals who could be accidentally tripped. A home with another dog (or two!) and folks who are around often would be his dream! The Essentials: House-trained? &#226&#156&#133 No accidents, even overnight.Crate-trained? &#226&#156&#133 Sleeps soundly all night (especially if you bribe him with a Greenie!).Leash Manners? &#226&#156&#133 Pretty good.Exercise Needs? &#226&#156&#133 Daily yard play and wrestling with other dogs keep him happy, though he’d love hikes or runs too.Emmett’s foster family says, “Everyone who meets him falls in love.” If you’re ready for a cuddly, goofy, and trainable best friend, Emmett is ready for you! Could you be his forever family? &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143   Our adoption process begins with our adoption questionnaire: https://norcalgsprescue.org/adoption-questionnaire/ (Please note that we adopt primarily within Northern California and our minimum age for kids is 6) If you'd like to see what Emmett's been up to, check out his posting in the Available Foster Dogs section: https://norcalgsprescue.org/available-dogs/. That's where you'll find all the latest info about all of our available dogs.December 1, 2024, 10:19 pm
