Story
Meet Misty, a wise and wonderful shepherd lab mix who’s nearing her 15th year. Misty embodies the grace and wisdom that only come with age. She’s spent her life being a loyal companion, and now she’s ready to find a quiet, loving home where she can enjoy her golden years. Like many seniors, Misty has faced a few challenges along the way. She’s a bit wary of strangers, especially when she’s not feeling her best. She is also selective about her doggie friends, sometimes feeling protective of her space or getting frustrated when on a leash. But don’t let that fool you—beneath it all, Misty has a heart of gold. Misty is looking for a special someone who understands the quirks that come with being a senior dog. She thrives in a calm, patient environment where she can relax and enjoy the simple pleasures of life—like a cozy bed, gentle ear rubs, and the warmth of a loving home. If you’re ready to open your heart to a senior dog who has so much love left to give, Misty is waiting to meet you. She may have a few extra needs, but she’ll reward you with endless loyalty and affection. Meet Misty, a wise and wonderful shepherd lab mix who’s nearing her 15th year. Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption Fee: $600   Angel is a 7 month old Lab x Jindo mix who is looking for her lucky forever home! Angel was rescued from the streets of South Korea by our incredible rescue partner. She flew across the ocean and touched down in sunny California, ready to seize her second chance by the paws. This gorgeous gal has a soft, fluffy coat and soulful eyes. She weighs 21 pounds and will likely be around 25 pounds when fully grown. She is just the cutest gal we have ever seen! If you are ready for your personal halo, adopt Angel!     Angel is a sweet and loving girl who is looking for a home ready to show her the world. She is very shy and would love a family who can help her build her confidence. The way to her heart? Walks! She loves getting out and seeing the world as she sniffs along the block. Once she settles into your home, she is golden. She’s not a dog you want to overwhelm with affection immediately, you are going to win her over by letting her get comfortable and then showing her love. She does well when she is in the company of another confident dog who can show her the ropes. Angel is good at keeping herself company but also loves to play with her toys and would like to play with you!  Angel will need a home ready to give her the time and patience she needs to trust and bond with them. She’s like a cat in the sense she wants to seek you out rather than the other way around at first. She will need a leash on her for the first few weeks if she’s outside. Angel would love a backyard to zoom around in as she loves the outdoors.  Angel wakes up at 7 AM and goes out for a quick potty break. She gets her breakfast at 8:30 AM and then heads out for her favorite activity: her morning walk! She loves trotting around the block and sniffing all of her favorite smells. She spends the afternoon playing with her plush toys or chasing her foster sibling around the living room. She is also great at spending time napping and chilling on her bed. In the early evening, Angel gets another walk with her foster sibling after the weather cools down. She comes home and has her dinner at 6 PM followed by some more playtime. She then hangs out on the couch and gets her snuggles in as she starts to settle in for the night. After one last potty trip, she heads to her bed for the night. Angel lives with another dog and gets along fabulously with her. She will need a home with a confident but not overwhelming dog. Angel adores her walks but would benefit from additional leash training. She is house trained and crate trained. She likes having a quiet space to hang out in. Angel can’t wait to meet you and change your life for the best!      Angel is only an option for homes with a resident dog. We will prioritize homes with experience handling shy dogs. Angel is only an option for teenagers and above. August 19, 2024, 11:27 am

Story
Two Labrador/Beagle puppies (siblings-male & female), I got them when they were 3 months old and now they're just turn 7 months old. They're very sweet and friendly with human and other dogs. They both love to play and likes to go out for walks. They're already have their shots and they're both very active dogs. And as much as I wanted to keep them, it comes to a point that I can't afford them anymore due to financial reason as I lost my job few weeks ago. I wish and prefer someone to adopt or re-home them together as they are very attached and share everything together. They always eat together in one plate, sleep together and plays together.

Story
Christmas family. Adorable Charity Noelle and Jingle were dumped in the back of a store. So much for the Christmas spirit of kindness. They were cold covered in dirt and nervous and the shelter took them in. We rescued them from the distant shelter. The two females are more out-going. Noelle seems to be the top puppy. Both are doing great got baths lovable playful and now very happy at their foster home. More info. to come as they grow and learn. They most likely will grow up to be large adults. Best they get a home with a fenced backyard and active guardian for daily long walks and exercise. Charity grew up with a cat in first foster home but she set up sep areas with baby gate for indoor gate. At new foster home she wanted to chase their cat. They did not set up the cat's own area so Charity would chase for fun. Always need safe repeated dog-cat introduction training when adding a dog to a cat's home. She loves playing with their GSD. 5/1/24 update: Charity goes to day care on week days. On weekends foster mom brings her to the open field to play and run leash free with other dogs. She is very friendly with cats too. Foster home has two mean cats and Charity never has issue with them. Charity loves to be around people very gentle to kids. She loves to be petted and be praised. She loves to play with toys making squeaky sounds she likes to play fetch and knows to bring back the ball and drop it off. She knows a lot of commands: leave it off stay heel back wait paw sit down bang flip etc. Charity is not at all a picky eater which makes training her a lot easier. She is definitely a quick learner. She loves to walk and is a very good walker. She knows heel without pulling never charging up to other dogs knows not to chase wild animals if warning “leave it” is told ahead of time. Charity is fully potty trained. She sleeps in the crate and can sleep overnight without any accidents at all. She knows to shake the bell on the patio door to ask to go out to the backyard to do her business. Currently going to doggie day care during the day while foster home works full time off site. Temp. solution. Still need a foster home or adopter.August 19, 2024, 12:19 am

Story
Kam is 9 years old and is such a sweet boy. He is very high energy and loves to play with people and other dogs but also loves a good snuggle on your lap. My husband and I recently started traveling for work and we have tried taking him along with us over the last couple years but the change in routine and long schedules (I am a nurse and my husband is an business owner) has terribly increased his separation anxiety. Kam could use a loving and stable home. We adopted him in 2016 and he was already microchipped and neutered. He is up to date on all his vaccines. He is house trained and crate trained. We are helping Kam's current guardian to rehome him. Please fill out our online application and we will forward to them. Adoption fee would be minimum $100 donation to Furry Friends Rescue. If you have specific questions please send them through and we will put you in touch with his current guardian.August 19, 2024, 12:19 am

Story
Louie was found back in March 2024 emaciated and terrified wandering the streets. After offering him food he allowed himself to be carried to his new foster home where he was treated for fleas ticks and worms. Since then he has been neutered chipped and vaccinated. Although he is slow to trust new people and situations he has opened up so much and is such a goofy sweet and funny guy. He loves playing with his toys and his ideal day is to just be at home with his foster people and their dogs. He absolutely loves other dogs big and small! He knows sit stay come here go lay down and give me kisses. He's potty trained and kennel trained (he has been known to get into a bit of puppy mischief when left unsupervised for extended periods of time). We are working on building his confidence in public because due to his early trauma from life on the streets and most likely abuse/neglect from humans he can get very nervous/shy in unfamiliar settings especially loud situations. He does love routine riding in the car and tends to do pretty well on hikes/beach adventures. When he was found he was 15 lbs and now is 45 lbs. He hasn't gotten much taller (he's kind of short and long) and isn't expected to. We think he is around 8 months old now and probably a lab/pit/? mix. Although he hasn't had direct contact with kids or cats he doesn't react when passing on walks. He does take a few days to trust new people and tends to vocalize his insecurity but is a pretty quick learner and shows no signs of aggression of any kind. With a calm environment and some patience there is no doubt that Louie will make a warm addition to his new household! We are helping Louie's current guardian to rehome him. Please fill out our online application and we will forward to them. Adoption fee would be minimum $100 donation to Furry Friends Rescue. Story
Dolly, spayed female, 3y-5-m-old, 44-lbs If you would like to give DOLLY a forever home, please contact abetterchancerescue@gmail.com OR log onto abetterchancerescue.org to fill out online application Dolly has an easy-going temperament, very playful and lively. She loves people and is sociable around other dogs and stays calm when meeting cats. She is potty trained and crate trained to sleep overnight; not a chewer or barker. Dolly is most suitable for an outdoor loving family, and/or as an addition to family with dog. Dolly’s rescue story: Driving home during a stormy night, the rescuer spotted a dark moving object in-between the traffic lanes. When she stopped her car to check it out, she found Dolly moving toward her slowly, wagging her tail. She didn’t seem injured but apparently had difficulty moving. Dolly followed the rescuer to her car and off to the hospital they went. The doctor’s diagnostic was that Dolly simply suffered from starvation. Under the care of her foster family, Dolly regained her hearth and received proper training. But being a dog with black color coat has hardly any chance to be adopted by local people. Hopefully Dolly can start her new life aboard.
