Story
Meet Ruby! This 7 month old black lab GSD mix came to the Shelter very under socialized. Things can be scary for her and she mostly avoids or pulls away, but is improving on this. Ruby would thrive in a quiet home with a dog savvy adopter who will give her the time and patience to warm up. A home with a confident large (40+ lb) dog in the home that would want to play with her and show her the ropes may be a fit as she has done well in her dog to dog interactions. A home with active minors or frequent parties will not be a fit for this lovely gal. Ruby’s adopters will be required to commit to force free training to increase her confidence and comfort with the world around her. She is already responding well in a foster home setting. She is observed to use the potty outside, but adopters should anticipate needing to potty train her to go where you would like. She slept in the crate while in her foster home and held her pee all night. She is also great in the car.

Story
*ADOPTION FEE SPONSORED BY GENEROUS DONOR*WEIGHT: ~68lbs.This is Sharpie. Wants everyone to know his love is permanent, and cannot be washed off. Behold, a Sharp Pei/Lab mix that absolutely looks the part. The unmistakable Shar Pei face plopped onto the body of an English Black Lab. We don't have DNA to prove it but...Sharpie is about 4 years old and he's a sweet guy who loves walks, people (and is a kid's camp superstar!), and playing with other dogs. He does NOT like his shelter bedroom and will tell anyone who'll listen. He wants to be footloose and fancy-free and once he is out, here come the tail wags and butt wiggles. He also votes no on cats but is literally the most easy-going dogs in all other ways!Who's looking for a big hunk of permanent love? Story
WEIGHT: 35lbs Meet Iris- Iris came to us from our friends over at The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter where she was brought in as an owner surrender. The previous owner was not able to continue to care for Iris due to lack of time and housing issues. They reported that Iris lived with kids, cats, and other dogs. They felt that a home with other dogs would be ideal for her, but that it would be if she didn't live in a home with small animals. Here at the shelter, she has played well with other dogs and is great on walks around the neighborhood. Iris is still very much in her puppy era, so a home that is ready to take on her high level of energy and training needs is a must! If you'd like to meet her, feel free to call our adoptions desk or stop by during Browsing Hours: Wed-Sun 11-5.

Story
I was the luckiest guy on the planet in early May 2020 when I showed up to a Texan animal shelter and found a confused, doe eyed angel, only officially up for adoption for about an hour, looking back at me. His origin story is unknown to me, and his age was predicted to be "about four months old." Making his birthday roughly Jan 1st of 2020. He is the all American sweetheart lab retriever that you'd see in your dreams. He's an incredibly sweet, energetic, playful, and sincere dog who wants nothing more than adventure, companionship, and love. He gets along typically very well with other dogs, and is extremely trainable. I am far from perfect, and this is why I must rehome him. His dental hygiene needs work and routine, and in general he needs someone mentally healthy and financially stable enough to properly take care of him. He's mostly caught up on shots, just missing one or two. He is a golden ray of light on this planet and you will be truly blessed if you are his new companion.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Cuddly PalRodrick is a 45lb Lab/Weimaraner mix. Rodrick is such a sweet pal of a dog! He loves playing with his 4-legged sister, watching sports while snuggling on the couch, taking walks in the neighborhood and local parks, long car rides, and hanging out while his foster dad works on his computer.   He has learned that "Sit" is a great default position and he is working on learning his name for recall as well as "Place" and "Down". Rodrick is an enthusiastic learner and shines as he strives to please his human friends!   We do not know why Rodrick landed in the shelter, but he is still learning to be trusting of the world and of strangers. Moments of chaos or surprising appearances of unknown people are very stressful for Rodrick. While on leash he is also unsure about other dogs, bicycles, skateboards or runners. He is working with his foster dad and a trainer to work on his reactivity and learn to trust new people and has made good progress in the past month.   Rodrick is seeking a home where there is some predictability and a calm environment. He connects deeply with a few people, and needs slow introductions to new people. SVPP is working with a trainer and helping Rodrick to learn that he can be safe when the unexpected happens. Continuing training support will be provided to his adopter. Prior to adoption, all dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm, vaccinated (including rabies, if age appropriate) and microchipped.   Adoption fees for dogs: http://www.svpetproject.org/info/adoption Stay up-to-date on what our dogs are up to by following us on Facebook!  https://www.facebook.com/svpetprojectVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 17, 2024, 5:37 pm
