Lovable 7 year old lab hound mix looking for a new place to call home. Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances we have to rehome our sweet baby boy Apollo. We have had him since he was 3 months old. Apollo is a goofy dog who loves to cuddle and get lots of pets. He is well trained letting you know exactly when he has to go or his stomach is upset. He looks out for every member of his family. He is such a good dog. Looking for anyone who looking for an older dog that doesn’t need to be house trained. Story
A FUN & HAPPY-NATURED GIRL:  Approx. 2 years old / Approx. 58 lbs.  Hi, I’m Jaquelyn! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and I’m in a great foster home, having fun while I wait for my new family to find me!  I’m looking for a family with a stay/work from home family member as I do go out to potty a few times during the day, but my foster says no more than her dogs need to go.  I have a congenital kidney defect which is easily managed and like my foster reported, I’m good with a few let outs during the day and have been great all night long without any potty breaks!  I’ll most likely have a little shorter lifespan than some other dogs, but I’m living life to the fullest!  Maybe we can do that together?  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I just love playing with and palling around with the 3 dogs in my foster home, so if you have a friendly dog at home already, let’s meet! / I’m a bit too curious about the cat in my foster home so my foster thinks I’d do best in a home without a cat.  / I haven’t been around kids, so if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over with my enthusiasm. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My foster reports that I’m a great dog who is lovable, huggable, and sweet!  I’m a Velcro dog and I like to be the pup to get the most attention, so I’ll wiggle my way into the affection, though not in a mean way at all and I’ve learned to stop when my foster says ‘no, ‘sit’, or ‘back’. Playful, active, silly and fun – I am sure to bring lots of love to my new family! I’m a great alert/guard dog, and my foster reports that nothing gets by me – lol. Just acknowledge me by saying ‘OK Jacquelyn, I know’ or it’s ok’ and I’ll stop alerting you.  My foster jokingly says that I can hear a pin drop in the next county - lol!  So, best no apartment or condo type living since there would be so many noises. / My energy level is approximately 6-7, so let’s make time for play sessions or perhaps some hikes. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I know the ‘sit’, down’, leave it’, ‘shake/paw’, ‘stay’ and ‘wait’ at feeding times commands. I also walk great on my leash and although alert during my walks, I don’t bark at or pull towards other dogs or people. If I’m jumpy with them, I’ll stop with a ‘no’ or if my foster turns their back.  My jumps are super soft and gentle, but my foster is working with me to not jump at all, and she says I’m almost there. I’m treat motivated and cut up carrots are a nice treat for my training. / I sleep with the other dogs on our very own mattress in my foster’s bedroom at night and don’t need a crate in my foster home. / My potty manners are great in my foster home!  I’ll sit by the door if I need to go out in between the potty schedule my foster has for me and the other dogs in the home.    • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love spending time with people getting attention, playing, and  being gently hugged and rubbed. Balls and toys are great fun for fetching – though it is more like a game of ‘keep away’ – lol.  I get excited when I hear the ice machine - frozen treats, yay!  Durable chew toys help me not chew on things that don’t belong to me, so let’s have lots of those, though if there’s stuffing sticking out from furniture, I likely can’t resist. I got to splash around in a lake recently and enjoyed that!  I also ride well in the car, so let’s go on some adventures! I also love going outside with the other dogs in my foster home so I can chase a critter from our yard (I think I’m quiet and can sneak up on them – lol) or to just sniff around. I also enjoy a good game of tug-o-war with the other dogs or my person.  / I don’t like the loud vacuum (what is THAT thing all about?), unexpected noises that make me a bit jumpy at times and the silly mop that I try to catch.  I am good for my bath, but can’t wait for it to be over and I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on my immunizations, micro-chipped and spayed. I eat Science Diet k/d dog food to help with my kidneys and have just had bloodwork done which shows that it’s really working!  The vet was so happy with the great results and so was I!  I’ll need regular checkups for my kidney health - twice a year is recommended.  If you’re a stay/work from home family and want a great dog to be active with, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    November 3, 2024, 8:07 am

Story
A REAL SWEETHEART OF A GIRL:  Approx. 12 years old / Approx. 47 lbs.  Hi, my name is Bela!  I was adopted as a puppy from Mostly Mutts and was a loving and loyal pet to my previous family for many years.  Unfortunately – as time went on, they had less and less time for me.  I’ve gotten to enjoy some time in wonderful foster homes and now I’m waiting to find my furever home where I will be a cherished family member in my golden years.  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I was reactive towards them.  For this reason, I would like to be your only dog, please. / I got along fine with cats in my previous home, according to my former owner. If you have a dog-friendly kitty, perhaps we’ll be pals. / I lived with kids in my previous home and liked them, though I can’t remember their ages.  I also met some nice neighborhood kids ages 5-8 with my foster and was very sweet with them, accepting pets and rolling over for belly rubs.  So, if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a sweet and loving girl with a gentle nature you are sure to love.  I’m alert and smart and my foster says I am starting to show my playful side.  I have lots of love to give to my new family.  The volunteers love me and even call me a ‘love’.  A sweet senior girl, I will be your loyal companion in exchange for your love and kindness. I’m looking for a family member who is home most of the time as I’ve developed some separation anxiety (which I’ve started medication for and it’s helping) and did some damage to a door-frame when left alone as well as broke out of a wooden fence when left alone. So, please don’t leave me unattended in the yard when you are gone. / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, and have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘leave it’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and greet friendly strangers without jumping on them.  My former foster also reported that I know ‘drop it’ and ‘place’. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and were pretty good in my former foster home, too. / My former family reported that I was potty trained, as did my foster family, and I've had very few accidents on the shelter schedule, so I just may need to learn the routine in my new home.  Please be consistent with me on a good schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love being with people and would relish my time being included in family activities in my new home.  Going for walks, belly rubs and Pup-Peroni treats are all things I like.  I love cuddling and would enjoy sleeping in your bed if you let me.  I also like riding in the car, so let’s go to some fun places together!  I would likely enjoy spending time with you outside in a nice, fenced yard, but don’t leave me unattended, as I have dug out of a fenced yard in the past. / Other than being alone and disliking some loud noises like thunderstorms, I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have some older lady lumps that are of no concern and don’t bother me, and I hope they won’t bother you either.  I have started an inexpensive medication for my separation anxiety. I am looking for a great home with a loving family to cherish me during my golden years.  My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.          February 22, 2025, 9:05 am

Story
A LOVING & PROTECTIVE GIRL:  Approx. 7 years old / Approx. 55 lbs. Hi, my name’s Yasmeen!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control and I’m sure happy they did!  I’m now ready to find my furever family to love! I was adopted for about a week, but it wasn’t a good fit, so I’m back with Mostly Mutts looking for my match. I also got to spend some time in the prison/foster training program and learned a lot!  I’m currently in a great foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met some other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them!  When I first meet new dogs, I might come across as dominant, but I quickly adjust to play mode.  If you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet! / The temporary home I was in reported that I was good with their male and female cats.  / I met kids at Mostly Mutts that were around 10 years old, and I liked them, but I did some guarding in my temporary home and acted aggressive with the grandchild, so dog-savvy kids 15+ may be a better match for me, let’s meet. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I arrived a bit unsure of new people, and we learned that I like to know that I can trust you and then we’ll be good friends.  It only took a day for that in the prison foster/training program.  I LOVE my people a lot and guard them a bit when a stranger comes into the home, but if I know them, I’ve been alright. I’ve worked on this in the prison/foster training program, and we have found it helpful that I meet new people outside of my space/home, so doing this in my new home is recommended.  I’d like a dog-savvy family, and I would not do well in a home with a lot of folks coming and going.  I’ve been a great girl for my baths and ‘just the sweetest’ girl.  Once I settled into my foster home, my foster described me as a ‘very sweet, mellow girl who just wants to snuggle up’ – so sweet!  / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  I’m very treat-motivated, which is probably why I am so accomplished as an MMU student. / I’m doing well in my crate.  I voluntarily went in there during the day to rest in a foster home I visited.  / My potty manners are very good in the prison/foster training program as well as in a foster home I visited, and I usually go #2 regularly around 5:30pm.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Being with people is just the best, and I love all the attention and cuddles that come my way.  Playing fetch, chewing on bones, giving and receiving kisses, playing with toys, zoomies around the back yard, giving and receiving snuggles, and going for car rides are a few of my favorite things.  I’ve been very calm on my leash, so let’s enjoy some walks together, though I seem a bit grass shy at times – sidewalks or a quieter trail could be great!  Long naps after playtime are awesome, so let’s snuggle up together!  / I can be a bit nervous, so sudden movements at the shelter and in the prison/foster training program can startle me. I wouldn’t like a home with a lot of folks coming and going or where I’d be rushed.  I’m not a fan of having my feet held.  I did alert bark a few times at strangers walking by and the delivery man in my foster home.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have some skin irritation so I’m taking an allergy medication which I may or may not need to stay on - we’re not sure yet, just ask about that.  I’m also getting medicated baths once a week and these can easily be done in my new home. I sometimes have phantom pains in my tail since it had to be amputated.  These can be common with amputees and should decrease in time.  I may need to be muzzled for vetting.      I am looking for a great home with a loving, furever family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  March 4, 2025, 12:37 pm

Story
A STRONG & FRIENDLY BOY:  Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 65 lbs.  Hello, I’m Porter!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I am super grateful that they are helping me on the journey to find my new family.  I’m soaking up all the love and good care from the shelter volunteers while I wait, and now I am ready to meet my new family – hopefully soon!  I spent some time in the prison/foster training program offsite and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I do not like other dogs, so I want to be your only dog! / Cats unknown. / I met nice kids around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts, so kids 10+ in my new home could be a good fit for me.  Let’s meet and best no young kids that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  The volunteers call me a ‘full-on happy dog’!  I’m a fun, playful guy who is quite energetic – full of excitement and joy!  I’m a typical lab who thrives on direction from a strong leader to help me stay focused and maintain good behavior.  I am easily corrected and love my people.  I do calm down for my bath – only getting wiggly for my ear cleaning. If you are looking for a happy and enthusiastic friend, I am your guy! / My energy level is 7-8, so I’d like regular exercise and play sessions. / My crate manners are good in the prison/foster training program.  / My potty habits are good on the prison/foster training program schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love people and enthusiastically seek attention from them.  Playing and being active makes me a happy guy. Treats are yummy, and I have sat nicely for them. I like to chew on bones, so let’s get some of those please.  I do everything with gusto, including eating my meals, so I use a slow feeding bowl at Mostly Mutts and should use one in my new home. / I don’t love having my ears cleaned and I would not be happy in a home where I didn’t get enough exercise and training.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a loving home with a great family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  March 4, 2025, 12:37 pm

A SWEET & GENTLE GIRL:  Approx. 6 years old / Approx. 36 lbs.  Hello, my name is Ansley – a pretty girl with a beautiful, silky coat!  I was rescued from animal control by Mostly Mutts and have been soaking up all the love and attention from the volunteers ever since.  I now hear it is time to find my new family, and I am soooo excited!  I’m ready to start my ‘happily ever after’ in a loving home – perhaps YOURS? I’m currently in a great foster home while I wait for my furever family to find me. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts and although I didn’t really want to play, I was interested and didn’t show any aggression.  I also did well with the 5-year-old Yorkie in my foster home, and she was fine with me taking over all her favorite places, lol.  I like when dogs are mellow, so if you have a more mellow dog at home already, let’s meet! / I have not met cats are Mostly Mutts, however I paid no mind to a cat I saw on a walk with my foster. / I really liked the teenagers in my foster home and may do well with kids a bit younger than that, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I was initially pretty stressed when I arrived at the shelter, but I’m doing much better now that I know I’m safe.  A true people-pleaser, the volunteers who come to spend time with me describe me as ‘sweetness from head to toe’.  I was a bit nervous for my shelter bath, but – being a good sport, I tolerated it.  In my foster home, I understood which items in the house were mine, so I didn’t bother any of my foster’s things. I also didn’t beg when she was eating. I did bark a few times to alert her to unfamiliar noises I was hearing outside, but I quieted down quickly.  I weaved between her legs trying to get affection from her, so it’s best I don’t live with anyone with mobility issues.  My foster described me as ‘sweet and gentle’ and said I ‘wasn’t surprised by much (vacuum, etc.)’ and only cried if I was alone – I definitely love being with my people.  I’m super cute and super affectionate with a calm and low-key nature.  A perfect combination of lovable, playful and smart – I’m ready and waiting to be your new best friend. / My energy level is 5-7 – with fun short bursts of play time being my specialty. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I know the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘leave it’, ‘place’, and ‘come’ commands.  I also walk nicely on a leash.  I look forward to learning more, so let’s have some training sessions together! / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts.  In one of my temporary foster homes I damaged a metal crate, but had very good house manners without a crate, so perhaps I won’t need one. I enjoy sleeping at the foot of my foster’s bed, and I stay in a thick plastic crate when my foster is away from home. / I have good potty habits in my foster home on a good schedule.  I also whine at the door to notify my foster that I need to go out. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Spending time with the volunteers is just the best, because I get the chance to go out and roll in the grass (and snow … and on you!).  Then, I can give you kisses and nose nudges to request more attention – which I love!  I enjoy playing with toys and getting those great belly rubs.  Toss a tennis ball my way, and I'll jump up to catch it with precision!  I love being outside, and have become quite fond of bird watching, perhaps we can do that together?  After playing, I enjoy curling up for a cozy nap on the couch.  / I’m not a fan of the busy traffic around the shelter and am much happier and more relaxed playing in the back yard. Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I have moderate tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future.  I’ve been experiencing some shelter anxiety, so I’m currently taking an inexpensive anxiety medication to help with that, I may be able to be weaned off of it once I’m settled in my new home. I am looking for a great home with a loving furever family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  March 10, 2025, 11:37 am

Story
A FRIENDLY SWEETHEART:  Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 34 lbs. Hello there! I’m Barkley!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and am so happy to be on the journey to my new family and new life.  I’ve been getting lots of great care from the volunteers, and now they say I am ready to find a home of my very own, so let’s meet soon!  I came in heartworm positive, but I'll be treated for that soon. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  No dogs in my new home as I am reactive when they come near me. / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a fun and playful guy who the volunteers say is as smart as I am handsome. I bet you will think so, too!  I am a people dog who is very sociable and friendly with the people I’ve met.  You are sure to love my sweet nature. / My energy level is 4-6.  • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I am learning lots of great commands with my trainer.  So far, I have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’ and ‘stay’ commands.  Check back soon to see what else I have learned. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts, though I sometimes don’t want to go back in after spending time with the volunteers. / My potty habits have been pretty good at the shelter, where I've had just a few accidents on the shelter schedule.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can master my potty skills.    • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love spending time with people, and my favorite time of the day is when the volunteers leash me up for a nice walk.  They are never long enough – lol – and I always want to walk some more, though this will have to wait until after my heartworm treatment has been completed! I also enjoy playing with toys, and I especially like the stuffed ones.  Let’s make time for some nice walks and play sessions together. / I can’t think of any dislikes except I’d rather be in a home than at the shelter. I’m also sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on annual vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. Sadly, I wasn't kept on heartworm prevention in my previous home, so I'm HW positive. The good news is that I'll be treated for that in Mid-April and Mostly Mutts will cover the cost of that treatment with their vet, so local adoption please.  I hope to be with my family before treatment starts! I have mild tartar on my teeth, so my adoptive family should consult with their vet and consider a dental cleaning in the future. I’m taking an inexpensive anxiety medication for shelter stress – just ask about that.  I am looking for a wonderful home with a loving family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  March 17, 2025, 1:27 pm
