Story
Give him work and he will rock! Hi there! I'm a 2-year-old, 20-pound neutered male Australian Cattle Dog mix. I have been in a home since I was a pupper, but unfortunately I need a new home with someone who understands my breed and need for physical and mental enrichment. I mean, a cattle dog is smart and you gotta use that, right?! I really thrive on routine and structure, so breed specific games like flirt poles, herding balls, maybe sports would be so dang fun with me! I am house trained, but could use more crate training and separation anxiety training to feel more secure when my humans aren’t around. I have some anxiety, and that sometimes leads to frustration and mouthiness, so patience and slow introductions are key for me, especially with new dogs and strangers. I can be a bit reactive on leash, both to people and dogs, so I need a calm and controlled environment to help me feel safe. I pawmise that I am definitely cuter than my pics, you just have to see me! Loyalty and loving are my greatest traits. I am smart, and intelligent and do love my daily runs (3-6 miles). I still have tons of energy and endurance to burn! I need a lot of mental stimulation and physical exercise—like playing with flirt poles, herding balls, or just running in the backyard. I’m a working breed, so I love having a job to do. I’ve got a lot of energy and a ton of love to give, but I need some help learning how to settle in at home. I get along fine with cats, but I do tend to chase them if they run, and I prefer to be around children 12 and up since I can be a little too much for little ones. Young respectful adults are ideal. I need to be crated when visitors come over, as I feed off of their excited energy, which can make me feel more anxious and reactive. I also need structure when I’m around other dogs, especially when there are toys, bones, or chews involved, because I can be protective of my resources. Once I get to know you, I’m very loving and loyal. I might be a great match for someone who is active and enjoys running—I'll be right there by your side! But I need a home that understands my breed’s needs and can give me the mental and physical stimulation I require. If you're familiar with working breeds and can offer me the right environment, I bet I could be a wonderful companion! We can be a great team together! My adoption fee is $350 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip. If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/ ##1728538##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.**Meet Paloma: The Snuggle Queen and Couch Connoisseur** Introducing Paloma, a 6 year-old mix who has mastered the art of relaxation and cuddling. Once a skittish diva with a flair for chaos, Paloma has mellowed into the ultimate indoor enthusiast. These days, she’s all about lounging on the couch, soaking up belly rubs, and keeping her humans company. Paloma is selective with her canine friends, preferring the company of well-mannered boy dogs who understand her need for space. While she’s initially reserved, Paloma’s personality shines through once she feels comfortable and secure in her environment. Hiking and camping? Not her style. Paloma would much rather curl up on a comfy dog bed than explore the great outdoors. Mornings with Paloma are anything but dull. She greets each day with a breakfast performance that’s nothing short of spectacular. Once her meal is over, she’s back to her favorite spot, ready for a day of cozy relaxation. But here’s the catch—Paloma needs an owner with a strong personality who won’t let her run the show. She’s clever and quick to test boundaries, so her ideal human must be able to keep her in check and not give in to her charming ways too often. With a unique blend of quirkiness and calm, Paloma is the perfect companion for someone who values comfort and a touch of personality in their furry friend. Adopt Paloma, and prepare to welcome a laid-back, loving, and slightly quirky dog into your home.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 6, 2024, 7:50 pm

Story
Lycaon was found in traffic near genesis and the 805. He is a very loving lil man who insist on sticking his long snoot between your shoulder and neck and nuzzling. Lycaon would thrive in a family that gives him excessive opportunities to run. Lycaon shows signs of a past with trauma and cowards/flinches with sudden moment and raised hands. He is extremely trusting and affection with his current care taker but has shown aggression towards various other humans and dogs he’s met in day-to-day life. There is not an apparent similarity in the type of person or dog that triggers this fear/aggression response. He would need to go to a home who understands reactive dogs limitations and would work through this challenges safely. Lycaon knows basic commands and recalls perfectly. He is also a ball-obsessed dog to the point where ball time should be limited as to not perpetuate stereotypic behavior.

Story
Meet Maui! – A Smart, Athletic, and Loyal Companion. He is a 4.5-year-old Australian Cattle Dog looking for a dedicated, active, and experienced forever home. He is incredibly intelligent, energetic, and highly trainable, thriving in an environment where he receives plenty of mental and physical stimulation. He knows over 10 commands in both English and Spanish, along with one in Tagalog, demonstrating his eagerness to learn and work alongside his next owner. An ideal companion for an active individual or family with older children, Maui loves to go on runs, go on hikes, play, and engage in structured activities. He is housebroken and thrives on routine and structure. However, due to his strong herding instincts, he would do best as the only dog in the household and is not suited for homes with young children. He is being rehomed due to a relocation and a mismatch in breed-specific experience between myself and my current roommate.

Please review our Adoption Process before filling out an application.  If you would like to try a Foster to Adopt trial, please fill out an Adoption Application.  If you are only interested in temporarily Fostering one of our rescues, please fill out a Foster Application.   Meet Maddie! We would love for you to meet this beauty! She is such a special dog. She is a TRUE mutt. We have no idea what her breed is and we wouldn't be surprised she is a super mutt with anything from shepherd to pits to some small breed dogs. She is the perfect medium size dog in the mid 30s and a young adult dog who is NOT very active but active enough to be happy on walks, runs, hikes or even dog parks but also thrive in a home with a yard. We can see her doing well in an apartment seeting as long as her adopter is looking to take her off leash places (once trained for recall) so she can run and have fun. Maddie is SO loving. She is truly a great dog who does GREAT with all dogs and just wants to be friends, I mean if somebody wants to bossy or be a bully to her she won't have it and is not a push over but she is not interested in any shenanigans but be friends and have fun. She also ADORES humans from men, women and children alike. An ARWOB volunteer spend some time with Maddie in June and this is what she had to say: ......'Maddie was very excited and energetic when she first arrived to the adoption event, but it didn't take long for her to settle in and relax. She's literally the perfect size, <40-45 lbs, and I could see her DNA test coming back as primarily blue heeler/cattle dog and pit being the second breed. I saw the best qualities of both breeds in her.    She needs more practice walking on a leash, but was catching on quickly in the short time I was with her. I didn't experience any leash reactivity despite there being other leash reactive dogs at the event, but she managed those interactions well and did end up meeting a few new dogs from ARWOB with no issues. With more training and socialization on a leash, I would expect Maddie to have 0 leash issues in the future and her to be a very fun dog to walk with.    She was in the process of learning how to sit and it was very obvious that she'll be easily trainable as she was eager to please and she appreciated all of the 'Good Girl!' positive reinforcements as well as treats and pets for rewards. Maddie seemed to really crave human attention and interaction as she leaned or rubbed on me on many occasions. She was very sweet and gentle with the several kids that we interacted with during the event, so could fit into a family setting with kids of any age. '....... We would LOVE to find an adopter for her and in the meantime perhaps a foster home. Maddie has not been cat tested and we suggest a foster to adopt trial with her if you have kitties at home. Foster to adopt trials for any reason are GREAT as it allows adopters to really get to know the dogs before they adopt.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you would like to meet one of our animals, PLEASE fill out an adoption application. Meet Enso! He`s a fast learner who loves treats and knows how to sit and lay on command. His foster mom is working on `stay` and recall. He’s crate trained, sleeps well at night, and is working on being more confident alone. An early riser, he enjoys morning walks, is an excellent running buddy, and loves chasing balls indoors and outdoors. While they`re working on leash manners, he`s friendly and excited to meet other dogs but isn`t a fan of children. He has no food aggression and is very affectionate. Story
We rescued Zora from a kill shelter several months ago. She is a very sweet, affectionate, and energetic dog. She will require the opportunity to go on long walks and runs. She's very playful and a wonderful hugger (her fur is soooo soft). She's very young. She was very good at using puppy pads, but has recently become confused as we're trying to train the dogs (we have 7) to go outside. She is very much a pleaser and will (usually) go to her crate when she's told. She loves to play with other doggies, but gets very nippy sometimes and terrorizes our pit bull who doesn't realize she could easily end Zora (and instead jumps in mommy's lap). We'd rather she never find that out. With my husband leaving the home (we are separating), the "alpha" is gone and Zora is now trying to assert dominance. Thus it's best for the other dogs and our preschooler if she lives elsewhere. We will miss her, but she's just too much for one small person to handle along with 6 other doggies.

Malani gets along wonderfully with other dogs and is always eager to make new friends. She’s excited about every cat she meets, though she’s still learning how to interact with them gently. Her energy is contagious—she loves meeting new people and brings puppy enthusiasm wherever she goes! Malani enjoys spending time outdoors and is always ready for an adventure or a walk. Story
How this pet arrived:Nacho was brought in by his previous owner. Why Nacho might be the one for you: Nacho with a great calico face of white, tan and black colors is a handsome guy, even with a somewhat large nose. His tan brows are perfect. Nacho is a teen learning his way into adulthood. He has got most of the adult stuff down but there is no doubt that he is still an active teen - even with an injured leg. Yes, he came to us with an injured leg which we have fixed and he pretty much ignores. He greets us at the front of his kennel with a bow and big stretch. His fast wagging tail is in motion as we easily leash him and take him out for walks. He is a happy dog who wants to stop and ask for pets from everyone he meets. He is house trained. He has been around children. He is good in the car, jumps right in and settles down for whatever adventure awaits. Nacho checks all the right boxes for being a great family dog. . He will want space for playing. He will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training to help him become a very good grown up guy. We can help you with that. Do you want to welcome an adolescent Nacho into your home and will you love and care for him? If so, he has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and is ready to go home with you. To learn more about Nacho, come visit us at the San Diego Campus! Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 51.8 Age: 0yrs 10mths 1wks

*Courtesy Post* (San Diego) This is Blue, he is an 8 year old neutered male. He is crate trained, and potty trained. He is a big lover, however very protective of his home and an alpha dog. He seems to have some anxiety/stress due to the foot traffic constantly passing his current home situation. He would be best in a home with a yard, and no other dogs. He is a super loyal dog, and does well in the car. Loves walks, and tug a war. If interested please contact Kim at (760)310-0325 kdietrich714@gmail.comNovember 4, 2024, 4:09 pm
