Story

Heidi was surrendered to the shelter by a family member after her owner abandoned her. She is very friendly and happy. She does full body wiggles when you talk to her and she is always content, her adorably nubby tail never stops. She is very easy going and is very respectful of her handler so correction is easy when needed. She loves people and wants to lay on you all the time. She is house trained. Even though she doesn’t look like it, Heidi is also a great running partner. She goes out with volunteers about 3 times per week for a couple miles each time. She also loves car rides. Heidi is pretty easy going but will not let other dogs push her around. Because of this only a home with no other dogs will be considered. Heidi is about 6 years old and 49 pounds. Note: Heidi is currently with one of our partner shelters in Kentucky. Once an application has been approved, arrangements will be made for Heidi to be transported up to our shelter for your meet and greet with Heidi. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Our pets are fostered and physically located in NC until adopted. Once adopted we can deliver to your location or one of our north eastern delivery locations. We have a transporter who delivers north ever other week. Aggie came from a local shelter along with her pups. Aggie was surrendered because she was VERY PROTECTIVE over her puppies. The former owner had a small child in the home and she was concerned about her toddler's well being. Aggie had always been perfect with her family until her pups were born. Being a protective first time mom is ONLY NATURAL and to be expected, The shelter knew my love for heelers and they knew I would be patient with her. I have handled Aggie extensively and she is a good girl. She would be better with women verses men. She is good with other dogs and I think she would be great on a working farm. That is where she came from, a working farm. She would be best with an active person and she would not do well cooped up in a small apartment all day. SHE IS A WORKING DOG. She is crate trained. She will go to her new home current on vaccines, heartworm tested(neg), current on preventives, deworming and microchipped. She will be spayed. She will receive a complete physical and a certificate of health issued by my vet prior to going home.The adopter will get all her health records with adoption. Critter Cavalry Rescue is trying to help several dogs like Lyla out of a small rural shelter that is cramped and hard on the spirit of the kind of dog like Lyla. She came to the shelter as an owner surrender forced by the animal control of the shelter. She and her sister were being crated 24.7 just about and this was negligent and cruel. She has been in this little shelter for almost 3 months now and her Blue Heeler spirit is just being stifled to get out and have some time to roam a yard, go for a fun run of fetch the ball or just be sleeping on a soft cozy dog bed at your feet. It is just hard on the spirit when these dogs are stashed away and unnoticed and very little attention except to feed them. She is 1-2 years old and 38 pounds. She is mostly Heeler from what we can tell but on the darker side and she is warm and friendly but cautious too because of the confinement she has experienced.
