Story

Heidi was surrendered to the shelter by a family member after her owner abandoned her. She is very friendly and happy. She does full body wiggles when you talk to her and she is always content, her adorably nubby tail never stops. She is very easy going and is very respectful of her handler so correction is easy when needed. She loves people and wants to lay on you all the time. She is house trained. Even though she doesn’t look like it, Heidi is also a great running partner. She goes out with volunteers about 3 times per week for a couple miles each time. She also loves car rides. Heidi is pretty easy going but will not let other dogs push her around. Because of this only a home with no other dogs will be considered. Heidi is about 6 years old and 49 pounds. Note: Heidi is currently with one of our partner shelters in Kentucky. Once an application has been approved, arrangements will be made for Heidi to be transported up to our shelter for your meet and greet with Heidi. All adoptive families must travel to us to meet their adoptive dog/cat. Applicants must live within a 2 hour radius from Sparta/Andover (07871/07821). Meet Winter, a gentle and intelligent 1 year old pup, weighing 50 lbs, whose journey began in Texas. Found as a tiny puppy abandoned in a box by the roadside, she was rescued and brought to New Jersey, where she was adopted in October. Unfortunately, Winter was recently returned to us when her family realized that the hustle and bustle of a busy household with young children was too much for this timid girl. She needs a quieter, calmer environment where she can truly thrive. Winter is very perceptive and quickly picks up on the energy around her. She enjoys the company of other dogs and may do well with a confident canine companion. We often use her as a dog tester as she is just so good with other pups.
