The puppies along with mom were living under an abandoned trailer and were picked by our rescue partner Saving Shelter Strays. They are currently in a foster home waiting for their freedom ride to the PNW to find their forever homes. Foster Update: Ellen is about 12weeks old and is doing so good at life. She is very food motivated and is currently working on crate training. During the day she does great with her potty schedule and has very few accidents for how young she is! Potty training is a work in progress but she is making great strides each day. She loves the resident pack of dogs and they play well together. She goes on a multiple walks a day and loves getting out and seeing new things. She is adorable and loves to be with people and follows them everywhere. This pup and siblings were abandoned on a rural road outside Austin, Texas, likely left in a box found nearby. In freezing, wet conditions, they were at serious risk, especially Apollo, who was found in the middle of the road. Two good Samaritans rescued the litter, with one taking two puppies and the other taking three. While we couldn’t secure the first two, we were able to bring Apollo, Star, and Peppermint into rescue care. Thanks to Apollo’s presence in the road, the entire litter was noticed—ultimately saving their lives. They will soon have all their shots and be spayed/neutered and ready to go! Kobe is a 6-year-old Staffordshire Australian Cattle Dog mix who is fantastic with people and has a heart full of love to give. Fetch is his absolute favorite, and he’ll happily play all day, then curl up on the couch with you for a quiet evening, or maybe some belly scratches. Kobe is dog reactive on leash, and while he can do OK when one on one with familiar dogs, he easily gets overstimulated and needs close supervision. He also has a strong prey drive, and really would like a home where he can be the only animal. He can get a bit anxious if left alone for more than 4-6 hours. He's used to a hybrid work week (2 days a week home alone, with a sitter dropping in), so he’d do best with someone who has a flexible schedule or can arrange for a sitter to check in. Kobe has done nosework and agility for reactive dogs in the past and would be thrilled to continue either of these with a dedicated owner. She loves to walk the perimeter of her property and in typical herding dog fashion will redirect people and alert them once she's familiar with her boundaries. Due to her herding breed, she has an irresistible impulse to herd, anything: cars, dogs, kids, etc. so an adult only home would be best for her. Sundae bonds deeply with her person and can be protective of them. She will need to be in a home where there is strong leadership. She can be reactive or show guarding behavior in stressful situations that she feels are 'threatening' to her person. She can also redirect in these situations or when displaying her herding instincts. She will need a firm hand and strong supervision when there is a lot of stimulation.
