Hi, my name is Willie Wonka and my love languages are physical touch and snacks. I love to play with ANY toys and really enjoy my foster sisters too! The thing is, they are older and don't like to play as much as I do, but I also enjoy playing by myself or with humans. I have never had an accident in the house and walk pretty well on a leash. My perfect family would be one that is fun and likes to play but also likes to cuddle! And you must appreciate my unique, derpy nose! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hi I'm Willow!  My foster mommy says I'm a very sweet girl who gives amazing kisses. I'm a little girl at about 18 lbs chihuahua mix (I look like a chiweenie), but I have BIG love to give! In my current foster home there are two dogs my age/size and we get along really great..with the one we even started snuggling once or twice. We LOVE to play and run around chasing each other back and forth, play tug and wrestle - I love it!!! I would love to have a doggie brother or sister to play with and keep me company when my person/persons aren't home.  I do ok in a kennel during the day while my foster parents are at work, but I'm also between my two foster brothers in their kennels so I feel secure despite not being a fan. I usually have my Kong with me to keep me occupied. Bonus if you have a fenced yard for me to run and play and get out my zoomies!  I love to cuddle! Cuddling my foster papa at night is really my favorite (don't tell foster mommy). I like to sleep in my foster parents' warm bed. I burrow myself under the covers and settle right in.  I'm potty trained on a schedule and do my business outside. My fosters noticed recently I try to get my people's attention by annoying them or going to the door and lightly pawing it. I'm housetrained and don't try to get into things that aren't mine. Put some teats/food in a Kong or give me a stuffy, ball or other toy to play with and I'll keep myself entertained. Did I mention I'm a championship cuddler? I can be shy when meeting new people. With a calm approach and (once I know you're a good person) I warm up within minutes even giving random kisses on occasion..  I can be vocal with people in my yard. With a little correction I settle quickly. This includes that scary Amazon guy. Lol. There aren't any cats in my current home. My fosters noticed I have a strong prey drive for fast moving bunnies in the yard so that kitties may not be a great fit for me. I'm pretty good in the car. I like to look out the windows and usually settle after a bit. I'm good on a leash too! We went walking at a car show recently and even at this place called Home Depot and even Petsmart. With a little more practice I'll be a pro soon enough. I'm close to mastering commands like sit and stay. I'm very treat motivated so training me should go well if you have those little yummy treats to reward me.  There aren't any kids in my current home but my foster home but I've met several since being in rescue and loved them even giving them kisses and getting pets and hugs. My foster mom FINALLY realized I like to play fetch. It's so much fun! Hopefully you like what you've read and would like to meet me and make me a member of your family. I promise you won't regret it. Love, Willow     Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hi there, my name is Camille and I’m a three year old Chihuahua mix. I am potty trained and kennel trained. I am very cuddly. I love to sit next to my foster mom in her chair. When she is not in the chair, I will keep it warmed up for her. I have to say that I am so nervous when there is a thunderstorm. I wear a thunder jacket to help me calm down. I do find places to hide like behind the toilet or in the closet. It does take me a little while to warm up to you but if you sit down, I will join you. When I go outside, I run around some but I come right over to you to get the leash hooked up. I am hoping that perfect, calm person is looking for me right now. Are you the one?    Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Are you looking for a playful and loving companion to brighten your days? Introducing Andy, the unique black Chiweenie boy with a heart full of joy and a personality that’s impossible to resist.  Andy loves being around his people and enjoys playing with other dogs. He’s a pretty good listener when he is called, knows the word "no" very well and very treat motivated! His clumsy, adorable antics bring lots of smiles and laughter all day. He currently sleeps in the kennel with his sibling and they are starting to nap in the kennel on their own. However, if there is a human with a couch or lap, he prefers to cuddle during naps. He knows the word "outside" which is helping with potty training, although he doesn't like when it rains. True chiweenie fashion.  Andy would do best in a home where he can get plenty of attention and playtime. He loves other dogs but also would do well being an only pet since he's very good at entertaining himself. His new family should be patient and willing to work with him on his listening skills, using positive reinforcement and lots of love. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hello, my name is Ricky. I’m a 6 pound Chi mix born 8/23/23. I love to be held and snuggle on my foster mom’s lap. I am mostly house trained although sometimes I have accidents. I am able to use training pads while my foster mom is away. I like walking on the leash although I’m definitely an indoor house dog. I prefer the nice, soft, comfy feeling of laying and relaxing inside. I love to play with my toys and I will chew on your shoes if you leave them where I can get them. My foster mom found that out the hard way but I am so cute and adorable it’s hard to get irritated with me. I am good with kids and adults but I haven’t been around any other dogs so we aren’t sure how I’ll react to them. I have a very good temperament and I’m always ready to run and play. I’m not a big fan of the kennel. I like being in one area, contained with a baby gate, when my foster mom is out. I do really well when I’m alone and I wait patiently while my mom is away then I get so excited to see her when she returns. I am a sweet and loving companion and I’m most happy snuggling, kissing and sleeping next to my foster mom whenever I am being held.  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxThis little guy loves attention and will curl up next to you on the couch and snooze away. He took a little while to warm up to his foster but then became very protective.  He is quite a barker when he hears ANY new or strange sound so shared walls are probably not a good thing. He loves to sit outside and watch the world go by ..especially things of nature. He's not too fond of the construction crew next door. He knows to potty outside and will give you a warning when he really needs to go, but right now we are working on stopping his marking. Hopefully that will go away when he is neutered (Aug 1). He does not like to be reprimanded in a loud voice (he will growl and snap) or have a finger pointed at him (he will growl and snap), but he loves to be petted and scratched.  He would do best in a 1 person home so he knows clearly who is the alpha person. Children are a definite 'no'.  He has a favorite toy with which to play a game of 'tug of war'; it squeaks but he isn't the type of dog who will squeak it incessantly. I think he would love someone to take him for long walks. If you don't have a fenced yard, he doesn't mind being out on a long leash so he can explore...as long as you are out with him. He is not a highly active pup.  He does not like crates at all. He will sleep curled up with a blanket on the couch  or sleep on your feet in your bed if allowed. He loves to perch on the top of couch or chairs.   If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //
