Story
Dory made it to MN and is in her foster home and settling in! She is a sweet little girl who is learning the ropes of home life! She is working on her potty training and is doing well with potty pads and also knows to potty outside, she does still occasionally have accidents and her fosters are working with her to help her adjust. She may do best in a home as an only dog OR with someone who can help her adjust and work with her as she can be a little bossy with the current dog in the home. Her fosters are loving watching her silly little personality come out and she just really wants to be loved ! She is a great little lady and we would love to find her happily ever after! Her Story: Meet Dory- this adorable long hair chi-mix was surrendered with her sister, Ashley to our partner rescue in Puerto RIco when her owner could no longer provide a safe place for them, and of course they welcomed this adorable pair into the rescue.
We'll also keep you updated on Ashley's adoption status with email updates.

Story
Meet Ashley - this adorable long hair chi-mix was surrendered with her sister, Dory to our partner rescue in Puerto RIco when her owner could no longer provide a safe place for them, and of course they welcomed this adorable pair into the rescue. This is what her foster mom has to share about her: Hi there, friend! My name is Ashley, although I don’t really respond to it, or any name really 😊 my foster mom refers to me as puppy or girly for now. I DO respond to commands and am eager to please and seem to be very trainable. My foster mom is working on basic commands with me, and I love our training sessions. I am a very sweet and cuddly girl – I love nothing more than the attention of my humans and sitting on their lap or next to them on the couch. I am a 9-month old puppy and can be pretty barky: usually it’s in reaction to outside noises or me having energy I need to get out through play or walks! My foster mom would describe me as sweet, loving, goofy, and very smart. I love my kennel and it’s my safe space, so I like to take my time to wake up and stretch in there before going out and going potty. As soon as I do my morning potty, I am full of energy and need attention. During the day, I sleep in my dog bed next to my foster mom while she works and am fairly quiet all day. Once dinner time comes around, the energy spikes again and I love to go on sniff walks to work it out.  I love my humans so much, that I tend to resource guard them from other animals. I don’t like sharing my humans with the resident dog and cat. I’m not physically aggressive with them, but I do show them through body language and growls that the human’s attention is for me! Because of this, I think I would thrive as an only pet with a family or person. I do get along with dogs and cats very well, I just get kind of weird when you add the human component. So, if I do go to a home with other animals, I’ll need my humans to help train me in seeing that there is enough love and attention to go around.  I am trained to use potty pads, but am using them less and less as time goes on and prefer to go outside in the backyard. I’m good at going potty on command. I haven’t had an accident inside in almost two weeks! I am also working on my leash walking and really love strolling through the neighborhood to smell all the smells! I’m not super food motivated and like to graze on my kibble throughout the day. High value treats are important to me for training, though. I am so excited to be the best love bug for my future family – is that you?!

Story
Meet Louie this Sunday 8/18 at Steele in Hops from 11-12:30 in St Anthony .. he will be enjoying some brunch with his foster mom! Louie and Chico... these 2,5 year old pups were dumped in the mountains of Puerto Rico... who could drive their beloved dogs into the mountains and leave them there with nothing around them to survive on and just drive away? Well, someone did just that. You can imagine how happy they were to see one of our partner rescue volunteers come to save them! They are the best little dogs - so full of joy and love these two are very calm and easy going puppers! Louie is just a little love! He is doing great in his foster home and has made friends with the resident dogs and cats. He is doing good with his potty training and also sleeps great all night in his crate! He walks so good on his leash and just wants to be loved! They do not need to be adopted together. We can't wait to find them the happily ever after that they so deserve!

Age: Approximately 10 years old Weight: 10 lbs Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: TBD more than likely yes Kid friendly: Yes. Older/considerate kids would be best Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Does well being left loose in the house alone Meet Pumba, an adorable chocolate chihuahua looking for his forever home! Pumba walks well on a leash, enjoys strolls, and loves a large fenced yard. This resilient little guy is looking for a loving home where he can feel secure and cherished.    He may come on your lap periodically but he prefers to watch his environment in his open crate & is not a cuddler. Pumba is very independent, loves food and needs to be fed separately to prevent resource guarding. He's fine with humans around his food but prefers not to share with other dogs. He currently lives with two small dogs and one large dog but pays no attention to them as he perfectly happy just coexisting. He would love more one-on-one attention. Pumba loves to burrowing under blankets at the foot of the bed at bedtime. So cute!   Pumba is best with older, considerate children. He’s potty trained and doesn't need a crate, doing well when left loose in the house. He can be vocal if crated and left alone, so a single dwelling is ideal.   Despite a tough past, Pumba's spirit is unbroken. Found malnourished and flea-infested in a Texas shelter, his previous owners never came for him, but he's ready for a brighter future. Could you be the perfect match for Pumba? Apply on our website ( https://www.healingheartsrescue.org/adopt )  to  set up a private meeting or check below for my adoption event schedule.   Age: Approximately 3 years old Weight: 12 lbs Dog friendly: Yes, with slow introductions Cat friendly: Yes Kid friendly: Yes, with older kids Potty trained: Yes, good on a schedule Crate trained: Working on it!   Seeking an energetic and devoted snuggle buddy with massive potential? Asia is a nimble, perceptive, and loving 12-15 pound chihuahua mix, with maybe some Jack Russell or dachshund. She came to foster care quite shut down, with no interest in toys or skills beyond potty training (potty habits are excellent, by the way—she has remarkable bladder control, so sleeping in is no problem). She’s since learned a half dozen commands and plays fetch with her beloved ducky toy; her personality evolves every day, so we’re sure there are even more delightful developments in her future! It’s all about avoiding surprises and channeling energy for this girl. She will need either a fenced yard or an active adopter! Asia lives with and tolerates cats and other dogs with thoughtful introductions. She’s still learning that new people aren’t scary, and needs a family without small children or heavy visitor traffic. Asia will crate for transport and handles car rides well, and is making great progress in kenneling in the home. She deeply bonds with her people and would love someone who is around a lot. She would do best without shared walls. She thrives with plenty of exercise and stimulation, and when motivated (ahem, somebody loves food) she demonstrates excellent problem-solving and agility. She would be ideal for someone willing to channel her energy into productive learning, such as agility training, but who also loves under-the-cover snuggles at night and long belly-rub sessions during the day. If you’re ready to invest in Asia, she will invest in you! Adoption Fee: $495  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.INTERESTED IN MEETING ME?
