Story
Who’s looking for a sweetheart of a pup? A tail-wagging, morning snuggling, happy pup? Chubbington (I call him Mr. Chubs) is a Chihuahua mix with an estimated birthdate of March 2020. As his name implies, he is a tad overweight, so he is on a diet right now. He loves natural treats like bananas and apples. He’s very smart and knows sit. We’re working on wait, stay, and down. Yes, he’s a little older, but no less fun or playful. He has a good balance of being active on walks and chill indoors; unless of course you whip him up during playtime! Mr. Chubs loves to sit on your lap, but he’s not needy about it. He will go lie in his bed or on different chairs, then come back to you for some snuggle time. Plus he doesn’t seem to be a “one person” type of pup. He’s happy in whatever lap he’s in at the time. Mr. Chubs is fully house trained. He doesn’t necessarily tell you when he has to go, but going out on a schedule works beautifully. He’s never had an accident or marked in the house and is able to go all night without a problem. He loves to go for walks but does pull on the leash because it’s a big world out there and there are tons of things to sniff and mark and chase. Again, he’s very smart and training him to heel should go quickly. He’s been really good meeting people on walks and has met a number of dogs well. Again, he gets so excited he jumps and spins a lot. He seems to do very well with larger dogs, so maybe he had a big dog in his earlier life. He is not too crazy about the kennel. Ok, he hates going in. He resists going in and will bark for a bit when you first leave, but then he settles down and is quiet. I’m slowly introducing him to being left outside the kennel, then watching on camera to see what he does. So far so good, he hasn’t destroyed anything or gotten too stressed. Another thing he’s not too crazy about is having his nails trimmed. He may need some medication in order to accomplish that. For a five-year-old dog, he can be exuberant, especially at first. He will play bite and jump up, which could scare smaller children. Once that initial burst is out, though, he’s a good little pup just looking for some scratches. Again, training should work very well for him as he’s so smart. He is a stuffed-toy destroyer, but the harder chews and kongs keep him occupied. He’s so funny because when he first gets the chew toys he tries to hide them all over the house. Mr. Chubs also loves car rides and wants to ride shotgun but is fine tethered in back seat. If you’re looking for a little fun bundle of love, Chubbington is your guy.
