Story
Even senior dogs know the value of a good treat and BettyAnn knows her good behavior deserves a tasty reward. Around ten years old, this lovely lady hasn't always enjoyed the finer things in life, so she is content to just take it easy and touch grass - literally. BettyAnn enjoys short, slow, walks due to her tender hip. Just spending time in the yard, seeing the sky and clouds brings her joy. She can certainly live in a home with other dogs, but she's not interested in rambunctious play. She's a mature lady and just wants to enjoy each day. She prefers a soft bed to spending time in her crate but is accepting of either. She's not dependent on others for constant attention and interaction, but after spending time alone, BettyAnn lights up when she sees her people. She may not have been blessed with a loving family in her early life, but she's definitely ready for one now, and maybe a soft patch of grass to call her own. All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for dogs over six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise. Meet Noah! Noah is a 2-year-old, male, Collie/Heeler mix weighing 42 lbs. He was originally found on HWY 276 in Rockwall County on 11/11/2023 and brought to the shelter on 11/13/2023. Sadly, his owners never reclaimed him. So now, he is looking for his new fur ever home! Noah is a sweet and playful boy. He walks well on a leash, loves his soft blankets and toys. He does well with kids, but has a bouncy nature and needs to be in a home with older children. His not good with cats or smaller dogs. Noah is good with some dogs, but he likes to be the leader of the pack. If you have another dog in the home, a meet and greet is suggested to ensure they get along prior to adoption. Noah has been a shelter resident for 267 days as of 08/06/24 and is a Diamond Dog. Noah's adoption fee is $75. He is neutered, current on his rabies vaccination, boosters to date, microchipped and heartworm negative. Bellah and Beau were at a rural shelter on the Eu list due to length of stay and being over crowded.  They are stunning dogs.  They are super sweet and very calm.  They do not jump on you but love affection.  They don't bark much unless there is something or a noise behind the fence.  They are not chewers, nor food aggressive and they are great with other dogs, people and children.  We think they are ok with cats too. They don't dig in the yard and they love to eat! Super beautiful too! ##2136563##

Story
Meet Vena! She is a 4 yr old spayed female Australian Kelpie/Australian Cattle dog that weighs 48 lbs. She came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 4/11. Why this amazing girl is still at the shelter and not in a loving home I can't understand. Not only is she stunning, but has the most loving personality. She walks well on a leash, takes treats very gently and is a big lovebug. When you sit down she will put her paws in your lap, lean over your shoulder to receive a hug. She will give you kisses too, with a big smile on her face. In the shelter yard she showed me how great she was at doing zoomies and it was so much fun to see. She did not show any interest in the other dogs barking at her, but we do ask if you have another dog in the home to ask for a dog test. She also met a cat and she was not too fond of them. Vena is a well mannered, sweet friendly girl that will lean into you for petting. She is the full package that would be such a great companion to a loving family. Having a secured backyard to do zoomies in, then live indoors where it is comfy, cozy and taking long naps next to her family companions is what this girl dreams of. Please come meet her!

Story
Let me introduce you to Dakota, one of our newer residents at the Mesquite Animal Shelter picked up by one of our officers on 6/3. He weighs 60 pounds, is about 3 years old and is neutered. He is an Australian Kelpie mix. He is a stunningly attractive fellow with standup ears, a beautiful coat, and clear blue eyes. He knows the sit and paw commands. He will sit for treats and takes them politely. He showed off his athleticism by nimbly climbing up on our play equipment. He spent some time with his nose to the ground, checking out all the fascinating smells in the yard. He chased but did not return the tennis balls I threw. He is lively, spunky, and a happy-go-lucky boy. He has an outgoing and confident personality. Being a herding breed, he tries to herd the person who is walking him. This could be an issue if adopted into a family with very small children. He is a very likable boy and highly adoptable. Dakota is friendly and was happy for me to pet his soft, silky fur that has a sheen to it! Will you consider helping him out of the shelter?

Story
Virginia wants to be your friend. She just asks you to be patient with her because she does seek affection. She's just cautiously friendly. Virginia is a seven month old 25 pound Australian Cattle Dog that came to the Mesquite Animal Shelter on 7/18 along with her sibling Arizona. They share the same kennel. They are both very sweet, smart, and shy. Virginia is even more timid than Arizona. She's like a velcro dog as she stayed so close! She doesn't seem to know the sit command but does take treats gently. She comes when you call her to have her ears scratched (see photos). She's well mannered, calm, alert, gentle, and wants to please. She walks very well on a leash. Actually, she walks right beside you. She was not interested in meeting other dogs but did not show any aggression. She's a real sweetheart. I can picture her now curled up on your lap or beside you on the couch as you watch TV or read a good book.
