Story
Hi! I'm Wero (or Guero, if you're a Spanish-speaker) and I'm a handsome 1.5 year old pittie/lab mix. My absolute favorite activity is to nap in the sun and be with my people. I will let you know how much I love you by putting my head in your lap and looking up at you adoringly. I had a rough start in life, but after my hip surgery in June, things certainly took a turn for the better. I'm still working on using that leg more, but I get around just fine. I'm a pretty good leash-walker, I'm house-trained and I get along with my shih tzu foster sister with no problems. If you're looking for a well-behaved love bug, I'm your guy! THE FIRST STEP IN OUR ADOPTION PROCESS:1. FILL OUT AN ONLINE APPLICATION at http://www.wright-wayrescue.orgOnce you receive your approval email from us, it will be full of information on how to submit a reservation request form to reserve your new best friend! Please note that due to high volumes, application approvals are taking up to 10 days. If you are already an approved applicant and did not receive a link to our new reservation request form, please email us at rescue@wright-wayrescue.org. HOW TO ADOPT FROM WRIGHT-WAY RESCUE DURING COVID-19:1. CURBSIDE ADOPTION PICK-UP APPOINTMENTS:Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we are not able to conduct meet and greets at this time. We are only offering scheduled curbside adoption appointments for adopters that have a rescue pet reserved. Please read more about our curbside adoption pick-up appointments below.CURBSIDE ADOPTION PICK-UP:When you arrive at our shelter for your appointment:1. Park and stay in your vehicle.2. A staff member will come out to your vehicle and check your reservation letter to see which animal you are there for. 3. Next, you will be provided with the adoption contract to complete and given the opportunity to purchase supplies from our retail store.4. Our staff will then help you complete the adoption process and bring your new rescue animal out to you! A curbside adoption pick-up appointment is most appropriate for adopters who:Are serious about adoption. When we reserve a pet for you, it is taken off the list of available animals and will be waiting to meet you.Are ready for adoption. The pet you reserve will be ready to leave with you the day of your curbside adoption appointment. Are happy with the known facts we can tell you in advance IE color, sex, coat type, etc.All family members are in agreement and excited to proceed.Understand that while the reservation process is for those serious about a specific pet, it is not a requirement to adopt that pet. If the reserved pet is not a good match, you will be able to submit additional reservation requests for a different pet for a future curbside adoption appointment. For the welfare of the pet, agree to cancel your appointment immediately should you not be able to make it. IMPORTANT NOTES:Only one reservation is allowed per applicant. If an animal's stage is showing as reserved, they already have a reservation set up with their adoptive family and are not available for adoption. If this reservation falls through for any reason, the animal will be changed back to available. All changes to reservations are updated in real time. THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN SAVING A LIFEThe rise of the no-kill movement over the past decade has been one of the most significant trends within animal protection. For millions of dogs and cats, it has been the difference between life and death. Wright-Way Rescue's mission is a little different than most. We focus a significant portion of our efforts on saving pets throughout RURAL AMERICA. It is in these extremely remote locations that help and hope for homeless pets is still at a minimum. Oftentimes our shelter is their only chance of being accepted into an adoption program and receiving the care they need. Wright-Way Rescue adopts more dogs into homes per year than any other shelter in IL. We do so on approximately 10% of the budget of similarly sized operations. Each dollar donated is stretched to the max to provide aid to homeless pets and support the rural communities we partner with. We know that helping to create compassionate communities where resources are generally lacking is key to leading the US to become a country who no longer kills pets simply because they do not have a home. Thank you for considering adoption through Wright-Way Rescue, a NO-KILL animal rescue. If you have any questions or concerns throughout your adoption experience, do not hesitate to contact our organization. Sincerely,Wright-Way Rescue

Say hello to Henry! Affectionately known to our staff as Henry Honey Bun, this cutie is super sweet and eager to find his furever home. Henry loves to be around people. He is friendly and playful with our staff, but Henry can be a little dog selective. He would need to meet with any potential doggy sibling to try to ensure they are a good match for each other. Henry would do well in a home with no small animals. He is a strong pup who would love to have a yard to run and play in! He is SO smart and would thrive with a handler who is able to continue his training. Please help him find the home he deserves! Henry's Story:Wright-Way Rescue's Lifetime Commitment ~ Henry! Meet Scout! This beautiful boy is currently looking for his forever home! Scout loves people and children! Because Scout wants all your love to himself, he would do best as the only fur kid in the house! Scout doesn't mind playing with other dogs outside of his house and on play dates but because he loves his home so much, he wants to be the center of attention! Scout has been through training, is housebroken, knows sit, down, paw, come, and loves to go on walks and play with his family. He would love a yard to run and play in (fenced) and a family who will spoil him with endless belly rubs and treats. He loves to snuggle up and sleep with children and wants nothing more than to be the best boy to his family!THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN SAVING A LIFE!Volunteers and staff are excited to assist you in the adoption process! Story
Meet Sadie!Sadie is an active sweetheart who loves people and snacks and games! She is eager to learn and full of energy. She would love to find an active home with a yard for her to run and play in. Sadie loves to play with other dogs and people! She enjoys squeaky toys and is fond of playing catch with them. She has so much love to share! Please help her find the home she deserves!Rescue Story:Sadie brought back to our rescue, when her former family did not have enough time to provide her with the care they felt she deserved. Sadie is still waiting on her family to find her! This girl was originally part of our "No Mom Left Behind" Program, when she originally came to our rescue with her 5 babies who have since been adopted.According to her foster family:"I can't ever get good pictures of her when we are out walking or playing because she's always moving around. She is such a sweet girl who is a little bit of a Velcro dog. She's pretty well mannered and loves loves loves a good bed to sleep on. She's got a goofy personality and loves running out her zoomies at the end of the day. I will say that I added a little disclaimer that if anyone is interested she should go to a home with only bigger dogs, if any at all. Honestly, from what I can tell I think she would be best to go to a home without any other dogs. She was fine with my roommates lab the one day he was still in the house, but she would get testy with him to the point we felt they needed to be separated. To add, She LOVES children and can't wait to give them kisses all over! Like her foster said, she does well with larger dogs but she is the more dominant dog. She went through our training program and was a star student! None of us can believe she's been here this long"! -------------------------------------------------------THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN SAVING A LIFE!Volunteers and staff are excited to assist you in the adoption process!
