Story
Introducing WILLOW, a wonderful 6 1/2 year old, 70 pound Pit Bull Terrier mix who is calm and quiet, and doesn't like a lot of commotion. She is a gentle, sweet girl who will make a great addition to most adult households. Willow's favorite time of day is when she gets to go for a long walk on the nature trail with her foster dad; she really enjoys spending that time outside, smelling the air, and watching the wildlife. In addition, Willow enjoys simply being with her person whether he's on the floor meditating or hanging out watching TV with Willow laying next to him and snuggling. Willow has good house manners and does not require crating when her foster dad leaves the house. Willow would enjoy a fenced-in yard too; she previously lived with a German Shepherd for most of her life so we think she would be OK living with another similar sized dog who is calm and easy-going. Willow is initially timid meeting new people, but once she gets to know you, she is very loyal and loving. She is approved for households with adults and children over 12 years of age. This dog has been examined by licensed veterinarians, provided inoculations, been wormed, tested for diseases, spayed, and microchipped. Story
This cutie is Dixie, a 6 year old, 50 pound Pit Bull mix who is short in stature, and as sweet as pie with a little bit of spunk thrown in. Dixie loves giving kisses, really enjoys going for walks, playing with toys, and exploring and relaxing in the fenced in yard. Dixie warms up quickly to women and older children. When excited, she’ll get the zoomies and make the cutest noises. Dixie has been playful with most of the dogs in her foster home; she would be OK as the “one and only” dog in the home. She has good house manners and does not need to be crated when left alone.  Dixie came to our rescue after a neglectful owner kept her in the basement as a “breeding machine” for years. Despite that horrible existence, it did not affect her from being one of the sweetest little dogs. She will make a great addition to most households and is approved for households with children over the age of 10.  This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided inoculations, been tested for disease, had a blood panel run (healthy), been dewormed, spayed, and microchipped. Story
TOTALLY DEVOTED TO YOU!!   This handsome boy is Ralph, a Pit Bull Terrier/ Labrador Retriever/Boxer/Staffordshire Terrier mix (DNA results) who is around 3 years old and currently weighs 73 pounds. Ralph is absolutely stunning and is very loyal; he listens very well, knows quite a few commands, and is completely housebroken. Ralph loves to romp around outside, exploring and playing with his foster fur mates. He absolutely loves people and kids and is content to lay with them as the kids read a book to him. He recently went with the family to a ballgame and did fantastic! He has very good manners and is respectful with everyone. Ralph is the king of his castle so he'd do best as the only dog in the home, but he LOVES to have play dates with other doggie friends. In addition, Ralph enjoys going for walks in the woods with his doggie buddies. Ralph would make a wonderful companion for someone who likes to run and or hike, and is home more often than not. He is just an all-around great dog. You couldn't ask for a more devoted companion! Ralph has been examined by our veterinarians, provided inoculations, been tested for diseases and worms, been neutered, and microchipped. Story
SPECIAL NEEDS: Partially blind due to Glaucoma .   This special girl is Ellie, a senior Boston Terrier/Chihuahua mix, who weighs around 9-10 pounds. Ellis is around 10 years old; she is very loving and is an absolute sweetheart. Ellie lives in a foster home with a couple smaller dogs and two large dogs. Her foster mom considers Ellie to be a “low maintenance” dog. She is a homebody because she does not like going for walks or going on adventures. She enjoys the opportunity to be in the yard so she can walk around and sniff out the critters. Ellie really loves her foster mom and the young teen kids in the home so she will seek out time for some belly rubs and pets.    Because Ellie is frightened of most adult men we are seeking to place her into a female household. Ellie is comfortable living with other small to medium sized dogs but isn’t into playing with them; she prefers napping and hanging out.    While in foster care, Ellie was diagnosed with Glaucoma and lost sight in one of her eyes; she receives daily eye drops for the condition. The medication has worked well and the eye pressure has been in the normal range for over three months now. Ellie has been examined by licensed veterinarians, been provided vaccines, been dewormed, tested for diseases, spayed, and microchipped. Story
Introducing BOGIE, a Bichon Frise & Shih Tzu cross breed who is just over a year old, weighing approximately 12 pounds. Bogie is a very sweet boy that was rescued from a puppy-mill breeder when he was “too old” to sell. While in foster care these past few months, Bogie has learned what love and kindness is and now seeks it out from his foster mom. Bogie does not have a mean bone in his body and really craves a gentle touch/pet because he finally feels safe. Bogie now follows his foster mom around, especially when outside in the yard, and feels safe enough to come when called. He has even started playing and having fun, doing the “zoomies” in the yard, and truly looking so happy. This past month Bogie has decided it's pretty comfy to lay on his foster mom’s stomach while she watches T.V.. His recovery from his horrible first year of life has been remarkable and we are so happy for him. Because Bogie can be skittish, he requires a calm household, securely fenced yard and another friendly dog in the home who will continue to mentor Bogie’s rehabilitation. He is approved for adult households. Bogie enjoys the companionship of other dogs but more importantly he gets his confidence from them, learning more typical dog behavior. Bogie has good home manners and is housebroken. He is such a great little dog whose future is so bright! This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided vaccines, been dewormed, tested for diseases, neutered, and microchipped. Story
This cutie is KIMBO, a male, Cairn Terrier/Chihuahua mix, who is around 4 years old and weighing 16 pounds. He has a rough/wiry coat that just needs routine brushing. Kimbo is a very sweet, shy dog who is great with other small dogs and enjoys playing with them for hours. When he’s done playing, he loves to nap on his foster mom’s lap. Kimbo lives easily in a foster home with two young teens and his foster mom and a few dogs; we have learned he is frightened of men, loud noises, and sudden movements. Therefore, we are seeking a calm, female household, with or without teens, and another small, playful dog with whom he can buddy. If given significant time, space and patience, Kimbo might be able to also live with a gentle, kind man.  Kimbo enjoys going for shorter walks and will benefit from continued leash training since he pulls on his leash due to excitement; it appears he wasn’t taken for walks prior to rescue so he’s in the process of learning leash manners. Kimbo is crated when people leave the home and at night, which he accepts easily. He is mostly housebroken when taken out on a schedule.  He is uncomfortable meeting new people so Kimbo is not a dog that would do well with an adopter who wants to have a dog who goes out with them to events, restaurants, etc.  This dog has been examined by a licensed veterinarian, provided vaccines, been dewormed, tested for diseases, neutered, and microchipped. Our online application is not functioning currently; therefore ADOPTION APPLICATIONS are available upon request from acaringplace@comcast.net.   We apologize for the inconvenience. A Caring Place - All Breed Dog Rescue adopts throughout the Greater Chicagoland Area.
