I’m Whiskey and I’m 1! I’m a total suck once you get to know me. At first I’m a bit standoffish and shy, but that’s just fear. I had a rough first few months until someone came along and took me from the man that kept hurting and scaring me.  I am such a good boy! I am super smart and curious and learn things quickly.  I love my crate, sleep all night in it, and I love love my kong. I carry it around like a soother. I can  sit and lay down, I’m working on learning to stay but it’s just so hard!  Unfortunately, my owner’s older dog does NOT like having an annoying puppy with lots of energy around. He picks on me and now I’m scared of him. I don’t think I like big dogs. Little ones might be ok but I’m not very good with social cues.  I am in home with 4 cats so they’re ok. Sometimes I try to get them to play, but can quickly be redirected. I would do best in a home with a yard to run and burn off my energy. Because I am so fearful, I should probably not be in a home with children under 12.   https://www.animalert.ca/apply/dog-adoption   A re-homing fee of $150 will be paid to Animalert at the time of adoption.  If you think you will be able to give Whiskey the perfect home, please complete our online adoption application.   If you wish to learn more about Animalert, please visit our website at    https://www.animalert.ca/ Due to the volume of emails, phone calls and messages Animalert receives, it is not always possible to respond to every application. This sweetheart is a lover of both people and dogs, making him the perfect companion for a family, as an only pet or even someone with other pets in the home.   Bagel is so smart and eager to please and his amazing behaviour means you’ll have no handling issues—especially important now that it’s jacket-and-bootie weather! He’s a dream to walk on his front-clip harness.  He already knows commands like sit, leave it, and he’s quickly picking up mat, lay down, and come.   Bagel loves a good play session, but he’s equally content to snuggle up close to his humans for some downtime. His sweet nature and easy adaptability make him a fantastic fit for almost any home.   A home with more that one person would be best so he doesn't need to be alone very often. He will bark when left alone so a home with no shared walls is a must.   Bagel deserves a loving home environment to show him just how wonderful life can be. If you’re ready to welcome this amazing pup into your life, Bagel will repay you tenfold with loyalty, love, and endless tail wags.   Bagel’s adoption fee is $650 which includes his vaccines, preventatives, microchip and neuter.   If you think you can give him a happy ever after home, please complete our online adoption application at this link https://www.animalert.ca/apply/dog-adoption  If you wish to learn more about Animalert, please visit our website at Animalert.ca Due to the volume of emails, phone calls and messages Animalert receives, it is not possible to respond to all applications. Story
Name: Breed: Age: Gender: Weight: Good with cats or Small Animals: Good with dogs: Good with Young Children: Good with Older Children: Fenced Yard Required: Crate-Trained: House Trained: Name: Milo Breed: Lab/Corso Cross DOB:  August 2024 Gender: Male Weight: 35lbs and growing Good with cats: Not Tested but probably Good with dogs:  Yes Good with Children: Over 7 years old Fenced Yard Required: Preferred House Trained: Almost! Location: London, Ontario   Bon Giorno! My name is Milo, but I go by many names at home - my foster dad calls me Pepito (he says I just look like a “Pepito”, whatever that means!) and my foster sis calls me Pookie, cauz, according to her, I just look adorable. I’m a 4 month-old Lab Retriever- Cane Corso male. The Canuck in me gives me my floppy ears and makes me a highly food-motivated cuddly teddy bear, and the Italian (the Cane Corso is an Italian Mastiff breed) gives me my piercing grey-green eyes and “tux” – I have a white front on smart brown fur flecked generously with black all along my back and tail - Mamma Mia! Cosi Bello (so handsome)!  They expect me to be a big ‘un when I grow up, but I’m a petite 35lbs (about 17Kg) right now.   I have enjoyed being with my foster family, but am ready to live la dolce vita with my forever family! Dad has been training me to be your faithful friend all my life – walking on a leash and potty training are ongoing, although I still do have accidents indoors (cauz I’m a pupster!); he has also taught me to wait for my kibble until he says “OK”, to sit, to stay (on a good day!), and to leave it until released. I’ve also trained my sis to play my favorite game of fetch with me, throwing a ball over and over again until SHE gets tired! I am up to date on all my shots and have been microchipped. They say I’ll need “fixing” later – I wonder what that is?!   I am easy-going, mischievous yet loving, and go out of my way to try and meet other doggies and humans when I’m on my walks. I play well with all the dogs I meet, although dad says I can be a “trifle over-enthusiastic”. I do feel a little scared when I meet strangers for the first time, but it’s nothing that a treat (or two, or three) can’t take care of! My unique selling proposition (dad says I gotta market myself) happens to be cuddling – every evening without fail, after supper and my last constitutional, I curl up on the couch with dad, put my head on his lap (or flop on his chest completely), and catch a few Zs. He seems to like that – sorry, change that to LOVE that!   Milo’s adoption fee is $850 which includes his vaccines, preventatives, microchip and neuter when he is older. Story
In foster care since: June 13, 2024 Good with: dogs, children, tentative with cats Fostered in London, Ontario Adoption fee: 700 Meet Violet! A gorgeous blue eyed husky mix who came to us from Save A Dog Network Canada in Northern Manitoba with her sisters (who are with another rescue). Her looks alone could melt your heart and make you fall in love, but her personality will be what really pulls you in! Violet is a bundle of energy who will make a perfect companion for any adventure, even if it’s just a walk around the block. She has been practicing her leash training with her foster mom and is excelling. Violet is already mastering basic commands such as sit, especially when it’s time to eat. When it comes to mealtime, she prefers to have her food all to herself, and if her furry friends try to sneak a bite, she will let them know. She is making great strides with her potty training and with consistency and a patient family, she will be a pro in no time! Violet thrives around her furry foster siblings. Regardless of their size, she makes friends with everyone! She has shown some interest in chasing cats when she seems them outdoors, but since she is still a puppy, she can likely learn to live with a cat. Violet’s favourite pastime is playing with her doggy friends, playing soccer with her foster mom in the backyard, and chewing on her chew toys - especially a tasty bone! Violet absolutely loves the people who care for her, and she will quickly become a little shadow that likes to be by your side all the time. She is starting to run with her foster mom on her workouts and really enjoying herself, so she would make a great companion for an active lifestyle. She would love somebody who she can snuggle up with at night after a day of play and exercise. Crate time isn’t Violet’s favourite, but with some positive crate training, she will be able to nestle in and feel safe in her crate soon. Violet is a bundle of both energy and affection. She is a loyal, playful, and loving companion who will add joy and happiness into the lives of the family she joins. She has traveled to Ontario for her chance to find her people and live a full and amazing life. She has touched many hearts at BSDRO in her short time with us, but she is ready to connect with the people she is going to spend the rest of her life with. Violet is spayed, dewormed, up to date on relevant vaccinations, and will be microchipped prior to adoption.

Story
Winter ~1.5 year old male In foster care since: May 24th, 2024 Fostered in Dutton, Ontario Adoption fee: 700 Meet Winter! Now one of our longest term residents, in foster care now for over 200 days. Winter is a young husky mix that will need a home that is understanding and willing to continue with his at home training. Winter is a high energy dog seeking a high energy home. He would be a wonderful partner for an active person who is searching for a loyal dog. He would make an absolutely fantastic walking or running companion. We rescued Winter from a shelter days before it was too late. Winter was excessive when we brought him in. It was evident that he had been given no boundaries as a puppy and probably had minimal training. Winter entered a board and train program shortly after his arrival. Training helped him so much and he was eager to learn. (BONUS: Winter’s adoption fee includes a 1-on-1 training session at Doggy Discovery Zone for his new family to learn how to best help Winter continue to be successful!) Winter is a very smart boy. He will excel with someone that is committed to continuing work on his training. He has a great foundation, but will need some finessing to make him the perfect dog. He still has his days of destruction and will need to have someone that can give him rules and a routine. He is known to counter surf, so his home will need to understand that while he is learning his new routine, things will need to be kept out of the way. He gets along with dogs, cats & children, having been fostered in a home with all of them. Winter loves to play with the daycare children who come through his home. He is still young and likes to play like a husky, so smaller dogs might not be his best friend. Because of his activity levels, we’d suggest a home with older or dog-savvy children only, as he may knock infants and toddlers over in his excitement. Winter is house trained and crate trained. He goes into his crate every night at the end of the day. He will also go in on his own occasionally during the day when he needs a break. At night and when you are out of the house or can’t keep your eye on Winter, he will need to be crated because he still wants to get up to mischief. He likes to chew and use his brain, so enjoys having a bone or playing with interactive toys. Give Winter a puzzle treat mat or a kong and watch his brain work out how to get his prize! Winter has a lot of love to give to the right person. He loves to curl up on the couch with his people or his doggy foster siblings whenever he gets the chance. He’s known around here as being just a little bit quirky, and we just know the right person is out there looking for a dog just like him. Winter is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. If you believe you can give Winter the home he so deserves, apply to adopt

Story
Meet Jenni! A 1 year old Egyptian Baladi who made her way into the care of BSDRO after a journey spanning nearly 10 000 kilometres. Jenni was found in a garbage pile, beaten, and battered at the base of the Great Pyramids of Giza. She was saved by a kind human who couldn’t bare the thought of leaving her behind, and brought her safely home to Canada, where she eventually made it into our care. Jenni is an extremely athletic dog who is looking for an equally athletic family or person to match her energy. Somebody who works from home would be a fantastic fit for Jenni, as she craves attention and stimulation, and loves to be around her people as much as possible. Jenni loves to go go go! She is always ready for an adventure. She would do best in a home with a large, fenced in yard, where she is safe to run and play with her people, and a doggy friend who can match her energy would be a big bonus! At night time Jenni will cuddle up with her people on the couch or in bed, looking for as much love and pets as she can get her paws on. The first couple of days in a new home Jenni will be anxious and need time to decompress. Somebody who understands that this is very temporary will be met about 1-2 days later with an extremely happy and loving dog who is excited to give hugs, kisses, and play. While Jenni had a history of being fearful of men, in her foster home Jenni has grown a loving attachment to her foster dad (and her temporary foster dad while her regular foster dad was on vacation!) and shows no fear of men after the first day or two. That being said, Jenni should have a female in the home to help boost her confidence. Jenni is leash trained, crate trained, potty trained, and quickly picks up on new tricks, eager to please (and earn some yummy treats!). She has been fostered with multiple cats, dogs, and children and done wonderful with every person and every creature she’s met. Baladi’s are a special breed of dog, and a potential adopter unfamiliar with the breed should research their traits and temperaments before applying to adopt. Baladi dogs must learn from a young age to fend for themselves, so they often first appear to be stand-offish, but this fades quickly. In our experience, they do best with another dog in the home, but are also known to play rough so another dog in the home should be able to handle this type of play. Because of their street-savviness, they are more often than not quite fearful and skeptical of new people, but once they trust you, you will not regret your decision to adopt a Baladi. They are highly intelligent, athletic, and extremely loyal dogs who learn quickly and make a great addition to a family environment. Jenni is spayed, up to date on relevant vaccines, and microchipped.
