Story
In 2021, my household had the pleasure of welcoming Ruby. We adopted her at 13 weeks from the local MSPCA shelter. She is 3 years old, a sweet girl, knows how to communicate her needs, and loves to cuddle! Unfortunately, due to life circumstances and dramatic shifts (partner separation, mental health, financial hardship) I am unable to provide and care for Ruby. I would love to continue to give her the life she deserves, but it’s taken a huge toll on me. I hope Ruby can continue to live her beautiful life and bring her joy and love to a new household. She loves to please and show off her training skills and commands. She is also such a chill dog, she spends most of her day lounging. Ruby enjoys walks and laying on the grass. Overall, I got so lucky with her. She loves her crate too. She is truly the love of my life, my sweet girl! Her adoption/re-home would include all of her household items, crate, bed, food and additional medication (in case it’s needed).

MY ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED AUGUST 19 - 25 AS PART OF OUR DOG ADOPTATHON !!! I`m currently in a foster home and not at the adoption center. Come in to talk with our staff about me and arrange a time to meet me! www.mspca.org/dogs Chencho5 years oldAmerican Bully Have you ever dreamt of having your very own house hippo? Well dream no further! Chencho is the chunkiest house hippo on the block and is ready to dazzle you with his ample good looks and charm. This large couch potato would make a great companion in a variety of households as long as there are plenty of scritches available for him! He is not a fan of sharing his favorite things, so he would do best in a home without young children. He might be able to live with another dog with plenty of management. Chencho seems to have some allergies so it will be important to have a close relationship with a veterinarian to keep him feeling his best. Regardless, he promises to wiggle his way into your heart in no time! If you think you are a good fit and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs. For more information on our adoption process, please visit https://www.mspca.org/adoption-centers/how-to-adopt/ Please note, in an effort to keep the stress levels reduced for the dogs in our care, our dog kennel areas will not be open to walk through. Interested adopters will work with a matchmaker on staff to determine which dog(s) they are interested in and if we can identify a match, potential adopters will be able to meet those dogs outside of the kennel. Cat and small animal areas will remain open to walk through.

Story
Zira is a shy girl who is looking for that special someone to help discover her true inner puppy power. She came to us from a situation where she didn`t get a lot of socialization during her formative months, so she needs a family who can take things at her pace. Zira isn`t convinced that people are friends just yet, but she is food motivated so she is slowly coming around to us. She has shown interest in other dogs, so we think having a canine companion that can be a good a role model for her. Zira has been too fearful to walk on a leash, so a yard space will be important for her to be able to access the outdoors while she is settling in. Once she does, get ready - we see zoomies and puppy play in your future! If you think this dog could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Boston Adoption Center. We have open adoption hours Tuesday-Sunday from 12pm-3pm – no appointment needed to speak to a staff person regarding available dogs. Preparing your home for your new dog or puppy ahead of time can help ease the transition for your new pet and set you both up for success should there be a dog that’s a good match! To learn more about how to make the first few weeks with your new dog or puppy the most successful it can be, please visit www.mspca.org/petresources. Story
MEET COFFEE!I am looking for:-Another confident dog at home-A teen/adult only homeCoffee is a young and active dog who was originally found as a stray in Boston. He is an adorably confident puppy who responds to positive reinforcement training impressively well, and already has a great foundation for potty training and crate training. As squishy and adorable this cutie is we have observed some extra mouthy behavior in the shelter and in foster care. We are looking for a home for Coffee where his handlers will be committed to using positive reinforcement methods and setting clear boundaries in order to extinguish the mouthing behavior while he is still a young pup. Coffee is required to go home to another dog that he can play with and help teach him bite inhibition through appropriate dog play. Coffee does very well when paired with other dogs, and we notice a decrease in his mouthiness. If you think this may be the right fit for you, please inquire today!Coffee is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been neutered, microchipped and been seen by our vet team. For more information on Coffee or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements. Story
MEET HERSHEY!Hershey is a chocolate pup who is as sweet as her name suggests. She was reluctantly surrendered when her family`s living situation changed. Hershey is a strong exuberant girl who can pull hard on the leash, but with consistent training and use of a proper harness, she can learn to walk nicely. She is very treat motivated, which should help with her lessons. If you are interested in adding this sweet girl to your family, stop by our Dedham shelter!Hershey is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and been seen by our vet team. For more information on this or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170.
