Story
Codie - Codie is a 2 year old super sweet lab mix that has been in foster care his whole life, patiently waiting for his forever family. His sister, Roxxie, was with us as well, but she was adopted this past year to a wonderful family. Codie loves to go on walks and loves the dog park & being around other pups. He is very shy at first with humans and other pups, but it just takes him a little time to warm up. He just has to make sure he can trust you. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He loves snacks and cheese. That's the way to his heart. He is fully crate trained and potty trained. If there was ever a dog that was autistic, I believe Codie to be. He is so smart and has really come out of his shelter but it really does take time. He would love to live in his kennel if I would let him, but I won't. It's going to take a special family who will take the time with him. He would thrive with another pup to lead the way. He follows Snoop around and steals all the toys and loves to grab things in the house to take to his kennel. 😂 If you are missing something, he usually has it. He is so sweet and so funny. If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Our rescue pets are fostered in Southern foster homes (unless otherwise stated) and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Our pets are adoptable in Alabama and New England States. Our adoption fee includes transport fee, spay/neuter, current vaccinations, deworming, heart worm test for animals over 7 months old, all necessary vetting and an interstate health certificate. Once an application is received, our team is happy to answer all of your questions and send additional pictures and videos. Thank you for thinking rescue!

Story
LooLoo is a 3-year-old, 35-pound cattle dog mix with a spirit as strong as her will to overcome. After surviving a traumatic injury that led to the loss of her front leg, she’s ready for a fresh start in a loving home.Though initially shy in new situations, LooLoo blossoms with patience and trust. She thrives in a calm, low-traffic home (adults or older children preferred) and gains confidence from canine companions who match her play style. She’s house-trained, leash-savvy, and adores her crate as a safe retreat. Despite her amputation, she’s quick on her feet and loves outdoor adventures!Smart and food-motivated, LooLoo is eager to learn and share her love. She’s spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm-negative. With a daily joint supplement for lifelong comfort, she’s ready to embark on her next chapter.Could you be the one to give this resilient girl the love she deserves?Name: LooLooBreed: Cattle DogSex: FemaleAge: 2 yr 3 months  (estimated 4/4/25)Weight: 35 as of 4/4/25Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Negative on recent testingMicrochipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 12Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: UnknownAdoption Fee: $500.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:  Memphis  TN   IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England.  Adoption donations cover pre-adoption vet costs (including vaccinations, spay/neuter when age appropriate, and heartworm testing/treatment when necessary), a microchip, and transportation to New England if necessary.Donations for our young, healthy puppies and dogs support their fellow canines of advanced age or suffering from injuries and abuse whose donations are reduced but whose veterinary costs are typically much higher. We appreciate your understanding that your newly adopted dog will help others in need.Meet LooLoo, a brave little 15-pound cattle dog mix with a true survivor’s spirit! This spunky girl was just minding her business in her yard at a rooming house in Memphis when, in an unfortunate incident, police responding to a call mistook her protective barking for aggression. Without provocation, she was tragically shot in the leg. Fortunately, her owner surrendered her, ensuring she could receive urgent medical attention and a chance at a much brighter future.Despite her injury and eventual amputation, LooLoo hasn’t let it dampen her zest for life. She’s still recovering from surgery, but her resilient spirit shines through, and we hope to fit her with a prosthetic once she's fully healed. PAWS New England will be covering her journey to find mobility and comfort.LooLoo is good with other dogs and would do best in a home with children over 12, as she hasn’t yet been tested with younger kids. She’s ready for a fresh start, a loving home, and the chance to show just how much joy she can bring. Let’s give this courageous girl the life she deserves!IMPORTANT INFORMATIONPaws New England is a foster-based rescue - our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south and New England. Story
Bonnie is a stunning red heeler mix with a big personality and an active spirit. True to her breed, she’s energetic, intelligent, and thrives on both physical and mental stimulation. But when it’s time to relax, she’s just as happy to settle in for some downtime.Bonnie enjoyed her stay at Gagnon’s Pet Resort in Colchester, where she participated in daycare with other dogs for at least half the day. She is currently fostering in a home and quickly settled into a routine there. She plays with enthusiasm and a bit of rough-and-tumble energy, so she’d love an equally playful companion in her new home. When she’s had her fill of fun, she knows when to take a break and relax in her own space.Weighing about 45 pounds, Bonnie is crate-trained, potty-trained, and knows basic commands like “sit” and “come here.” She sleeps peacefully in her crate at night and does well when crated during the workday—though she appreciates a midday play session to stretch her legs and burn off energy.Bonnie walks well on a leash but can be a little protective when encountering new dogs. Once given a chance to interact off-leash, she warms up quickly. She’s absolutely wonderful with kids—both playful and gentle—and loves being around people. She is spayed, up-to-date on all vaccinations, and in excellent health. Bonnie is affectionate, loving, and full of joy—ready to bring laughter and companionship to her forever home.No couch potatoes or someone who works 15 hours a day - an active home (hiking, walking ALOT) where she has a chance to thrive is what this girl needs. Story
Meet Kimmie, a sweet and beautiful strawberry blonde pup with adorable white paws and big expressive ears. She’s a little bundle of energy and love.Kimmie had a rough start in life, rescued as a stray with another dog named Sammie (also up for adoption), her rescuers realized she may have recently given birth to a litter which could not be located. When she first arrived to her foster home, she was understandably nervous and whiney. She would search frantically when she heard other dogs bark or cry, but she’s made incredible progress and is much more at ease now.She now loves all humans and is dog friendly with no signs of aggression living in a foster home with several dogs. She is even good with cats!!Kimmie always keeps a watchful eye on everything around her when she’s outside. Whether it’s running around the yard or simply soaking in the sights, she’s always alert and curious. This girl is house and crate trained. She sleeps in a crate at night and during the day when her foster is not home. She crates without any issue. Kimmie is working on her leash skills and getting better every day. She might not enjoy car rides just yet, but we are hopeful that will improve with time and patience. After her morning outings, she’ll often meet you at the door, excited to spend the day with her people. While she hasn’t shown much interest in toys, she’s all about her chew bones, which are her go-to for keeping busy. Kimmie is now ready to share her love with a family that’s patient and understanding. She is best suited to a home with older children and adults, ideally with a yard where she can do her favorite thing—zoomies! If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate dog who will keep you on your toes with her zoomies and gentle nature, Kimmie just might be the one for you!Check out her videos:https://youtu.be/jbqBHswl0U4?si=oarTE3LqgUP8EYkBhttps://youtu.be/G1Z5RpYKhVc?si=sL2d2d-XNfTN3zWPName: KimmieBreed: Cattle Dog/CorgiSex: FemaleAge: 1 year  (estimated as of 4/2/25)Weight: 41.0 as of 4/2/25Spayed/Neutered: YesVaccinations: Up to dateHeartworm: Positive on recent testing.  Has started pre-treatment.  PAWS cover all treatment costs (at one of our partner vets).Microchipped: YesBASED ON OUR OBSERVATIONS:Good with Children: Over 7Good with Dogs: YesGood with Cats: YesAdoption Fee: $550.00  (includes transport fee when applicable)Location of dog currently:    Tennessee  IMPORTANT INFORMATION - Paws New England is a foster-based rescue; our dogs reside in various locations throughout the south & New England.
