Story
Meet Pikachu! Weight: 59 lbsWe don't even know where to start with this pup, Pikachu has made strides since coming to us in August as a stray. He's really learned how to get to know new staff and people quickly, he's slowly learning the outside world isn't so scary. We've learned Pikachu loves car rides, and pup cups! Pikachu is looking for an experienced dog handler home, one that has worked with a dog that is eager to learn and grow. Training must be a priority in his forever home to help Pika in the long run, and confidence building. His home should be prepared to likely have to come meet him a few times before he feels confident to go home. Pikachu recently went into foster with one of our staff members and here are some things we've learned: He absolutely needs another confident canine companion, he relies on other canines for emotional support, a lot. He is in foster with another playful male, and a female dog. He doesn't seem to mind the feline in home, but any odd movements the feline makes (jumping off of counters, loud thuds, moving cat trees) you can definitely tell he doesn't have a lot of experience with it. Pikachu doesn't necessarily need a fenced in yard, although his foster has one, because we, at the shelter have history of him being a fence jumper, the foster keeps him on a 40 foot long lead - where he can still have his freedom to run in the fenced in area but in the event of an emergency, there is a back up. If, no fenced in yard - being on a long lead/runner will be important.Pikachu does phenomenal in his crate, during the day he is crated next to his foster siblings, and appreciates it. At night, the crate is located next to the bed of his foster and that helps him feel like he has company. Pikachu relies heavily on companionship, and he is an excellent dog. Seeing how wonderful he's transitioned into his foster home, we have no doubt he'll be a great companion in his forever home. Please submit an application if you're interested in meeting Pikachu, and our foster or canine coordinator will reach out.

Meet Nyla, Weight: 44 lbs"She's beautiful" "Wiggle butt""Captivating""Resilient""Boopable" These are all things our staff has to say about sweet Nyla and they're all so true - Nyla has such a love for life, and going on all sorts of adventures. Nyla is resilient because her start to life wasn't the best and to see her leave all of that behind and be the joyful, goofball she is - is truly amazing. Nyla is looking for a low foot traffic environment, likely in a more suburban area than a busy city life style. Nyla has done well with other dogs here, and we feel like another happy go lucky pup, that can help show her the world isn't so scary and not all things are bad would be a great match and we'd want her to meet any potential canine siblings prior to going home. A feline free home for this gal please and We'd want Nyla to meet any kiddos siblings (14+), or kiddos that visit quite frequently before going home as well, so please have the whole family tag along!

Meet Roxy! Roxy is ready to meet her forever family, she is looking for a home where she can have lots of space to run around and play! She loves to play with her humans, and go for lots of walks/runs. She'd be a great hiking partner, and she loves to ride, so even a great travel partner! Roxy is looking to be the only canine in home, but does not mind having canine friends that she may meet up with for a walk or two a week, but would not be a dog park candidate - as she can get overwhelmed with rough play to quickly. She has lived with feline friends before, and may do okay with 1-2 feline friends that are dog-savvy or maybe indoor/outdoor where they have plenty of room to keep space if needed, Roxy is such a lovebug and knows sit, down and paw and LOVES treats so she'll be very excited to learn more. Roxy has lived with kiddos in the past and would like to have her meet any potential kiddo siblings and think she'd do best with kids 8+! If you think this gorgeous gal would be a good fit, please come in and meet her!

Story
Meet Blaze! Weight: 50 lbsBlaze is a handsome 6 month old pup that is eager to find his forever home, Blaze came to us due to no fault of his own, he hasn't seen much of the outside world other than his previous home, so his family should be prepared to be very patient with him as he starts to figure that out. Doggy daycare, puppy/obedience classes would be really helpful to him to help him socialize as he grows up. Blaze will be a very large pup, so building his confidence as he grows will make handling him as an adult much easier and will help him overall feel more comfortable with the world. Having other canine friends in home will definitely help this guy navigate in his new environment, and we'd like Blaze to meet his whole family, kiddos included prior to going home. Blaze would do best in a home with no cats or small animals. Blaze is such a goofball, and loves to run around our yards getting the zoomies, and playing with people/dogs - with some patience we believe he'd be an excellent companion to his new home!

Meet Bandit!Weight: 52 lbsBandit is a handsome 6 month old pup that is eager to find his forever home, Bandit came to us due to no fault of his own, he hasn't seen much of the outside world other than his previous home, so his family should be prepared to be very patient with him as he starts to figure that out. Doggy daycare, puppy/obedience classes would be really helpful to him to help him socialize as he grows up. Bandit will be a very large pup, so building his confidence as he grows will make handling him as an adult much easier and will help him overall feel more comfortable with the world. Bandit is a wonderful puppy, and is very goofy when he gets the zoomies, and runs around and plays. He's still figuring out how to play, and what toys are but he's very curious and goofy during this process. Bandit would do best in home with another dog, so we will be requiring him have another canine pal. This will help him grow, and understand that things in home and people aren't so intimidating by following the steps of a confident canine pal, and learning the world through their actions. Please have any canine friends tag along with you, as well as kiddos - we'd like Bandit to meet his whole family prior to going home - feline friends that are used to rambunctious pups would be a good fit and our staff will discuss helpful tips when introducing Bandit and feline friends in home. If you think Bandit would be a good fit, please come in and meet him!

Meet Pecan!Weight: 25 lbsThis little lady is ready to find her forever home, and we're super excited to tell you about her. This sweet gal will likely need to visit a few times before feeling fully confident to go home, she will be a really great companion once given the time and patience to learn her new home and people, and fully decompress. Her family should be prepared to utilize puppy classes to help build her confidence and help socialize with animals and people outside of her home, she can grow into a very confident, comfortable and excited to adventure new fun places! Pecan will most definitely need another canine friend or friends in home, as she is most comfortable, and thrives around her dog friends. She is currently in foster with a few other dogs and doing well. We see this a lot with animals that used to being in packs, or in a home with a large amount of dogs, which is where she came from. Her foster home also has a couple dog-savvy cats and with slow introductions she is doing well. The youngest kiddo in her foster home is 13, so dog-savvy teens for her would be best. She does great in her crate in her foster home but sometimes can struggle when left alone for long periods! She loves her kongs, especially when they have peanut butter in them, very playful - especially with stuffed toys and LOVES to play in the water! If you think Pecan would be a good addition to your home, please submit an application and our canine or foster coordinator will be in touch to set up an appointment!
