Story
I purchased Cooper when he was a puppy from a friend who bred her male cocker spaniel with Cooper's mother. Cooper is now 4 1/2 years old. He is a very loving dog, loyal, and a one-person dog. Two years ago Cooper and I moved in with my daughter's family, which includes 3 children under the age of 6, he does not do well around children. He is not overly aggressive to children just very nervous around them. At this time we also have an adult yellow labrador and a house cat. Cooper does get along with our other animals as long as food or treats are not nearby. I would love to find Cooper a home where he will be loved and taken care of. I hope to find Cooper a home with adults only, although Cooper is only 4 he is not energetic, I would describe him as more of a couch potato.

Story
My partner and I took Cubone in last year from a stranger at a market. He was very shy but happy to have a home. We believe he was traumatized from wherever he came from prior. Weve loved having him but we think he would do better in a house that doesnt have other animals. I had a cat prior to bringing him in that doesnt always seem happy with him, and we have another dog that he often gets too rough with. Hes very sweet otherwise, especially when he trusts and knows you. He loves to play with toys, and will nap right next to you. He just needs some better socialization that we have a hard time providing, and a home thats not so hectic with other animals. It’s a hard decision for us that took time to make, but we truly think it’s whats best for him and our other pets. He’s never attacked anyone, but has shown to be protective of us and our home (at times barked at guests I’ve had over or noises outside). He just needs the right space, please consider giving that to him.

Story
Meet Buddy! Buddy is a wonderful boy that is about 4 years old and roughly 60lbs. He was surrendered to us when the family dynamic changed in his home and they could no longer have him. He has bounced around a few homes in his life and is looking for a consistent permanent home to love on him. He did live successfully in the home with another dog, but can be reactive with new dogs. He could possibly live in a home with another dog with a proper introduction. He tends to chase cats, but not hurt them so that is up to the potential adopter on whether or not they think he would be a good fit if there are already cats in the home. He would do best in a home with older children or adults that will give him space while he's eating. Buddy is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting Buddy please fill out an application at al-van.org. *Some pet-finding websites aside from our own are very slow to update after an animal is adopted, and this is outside of our control. Story
Porkchop is a mellow, loving girl, but she is shy with new people. She's outgoing, affectionate, and playful once she knows you, so a potential adopter would need to be willing to spend some time with her in a meet and greet to get to know her...she's definitely worth it. She's the perfect dog to hang out quietly with you and to run around with you in the yard while she has the zoomies! Porkchop can be dominant with other dogs, but she is open to meeting new friends. Like any dog, she has her preferences! She does need to go to a home with no cats or small animals. Porkchop came to us heartworm positive, but she has been treated and has tested negative since completing treatment. As well as being heartworm negative, Porkchop is also spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations. If you'd like to meet and adopt this beautiful, happy girl, visit al-van.org/adopt to fill out an application.

Story
Meet Knox! Knox came to us from another shelter so he could get a new set of eyes on him. He loves to play with other dogs! Once he's comfortable with someone he is a big lover. He takes longer to warm up to men than women and would do best in a home with older or no children. Knox is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm negative. If you are interested in adopting Knox please fill out an application at al-van.org/adopt. *Some pet-finding websites aside from our own are very slow to update after an animal is adopted, and this is outside of our control.
