Story
Meet Rusty, a lovable 6-year-old Boxer/Pitbull mix who is ready to find his forever home. Weighing in at 68 pounds, Rusty is a gentle giant who has spent the last few years in a loving home in South Carolina. Originally rescued from Kentucky, he’s had a life filled with care and affection but sadly his owner has recently fallen ill and can no longer care for him. While this is heartbreaking, it’s important to note that this is *no fault of Rusty’s own*—he’s simply a dog who is ready to find a new family to share his love with. Rusty is a smart, playful, and beautiful soul who is all about showing affection. His excitement is contagious—he does a full-body wiggle when he's happy, and he always greets you with a smile! He’s a well-mannered boy who will sit patiently while you put on his leash and waits politely for his dinner. Rusty is not destructive, and he doesn’t chew on things that aren’t his—he’s a calm presence in the home, making him a great fit for a more low-key environment. He’s great with other dogs and would thrive in a household with low-traffic teens or adults. Rusty isn’t recommended for a home with younger kids due to his size and strength, but in the right setting, he’ll be the loyal companion you’ve been looking for. Rusty is fully housetrained, up to date on all vaccines, and neutered. He loves car rides and is always up for an adventure, but after a day of fun, he’s happiest when he’s curled up next to his people, enjoying a quiet moment. Rusty is looking for a family that can offer him the love, stability, and comfort he deserves as he enters this new chapter of his life. If you're ready to open your heart to a dog who will bring nothing but love, joy, and loyalty into your home, Rusty is waiting for you. Apply to adopt him today at https://peace4paws.org/adoption-application. Rusty can’t wait to meet you and start this exciting new journey together! If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! Story
Have you ever heard the song lyrics “She’s a little runaway”?  We think that was written about Abby.   Abby is a gentle 3½-year-old shepherd mix weighing 25-30 lbs. She was rescued almost 2 years ago from Mississippi. We recently discovered a healed fracture in her femur which occurred before her rescue.  You’d never know from looking at her or watching her walk.  Too bad she can’t tell us what happened as it might give us clues to her past.   Abby is a sweet girl but is still learning that the best place to explore is alongside her human. Abby has been placed for adoption twice but was surrendered each time due to her tendency to escape. She ran off of multiple times from her last home!  Her most recent adventure had her on her own for three days, and she’s still recovering emotionally and physically from that experience. Abby hasn’t shown much affection in her previous homes, likely due to lingering anxiety and not knowing how to be part of the family. She’ll need a calm, patient, and understanding environment—ideally with strong human leadership and a confident resident dog to help her feel secure and supported. Abby craves an environment and a routine that meets her emotional and physical needs. A secure, fenced yard is a must, but Abby will need to constant supervision, as she has a knack for finding her way out if an opportunity presents. With the right home, time, and love, Abby can learn to trust and share her affectionate side. Could you and your dog be the ones to give her the stability and care she deserves? Abby’s adopters will be supported in their work with Abby through training.  Peace4Paws will provide a training package with a professional dog trainer who has worked with Abby previously. Think Abby is the right girl for you?  Apply on a computer or laptop at www.peace4paws.org/adoption-application. If you have specific adoption or foster questions, please email: judy.atchison@yahoo.com THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN RESCUING A DOG! Story
Meet Breu (pronounced "Brew"), a 2-year-old, 50lb black lab/hound mix who's just waiting for a family to call his own. Breu grew up in Kentucky, but due to circumstances beyond his control, his owner had to surrender him. Now, this sweet boy is looking for a second chance to find the love and security he deserves. Breu is a gentle, loyal dog who thrives on companionship and affection. He lived happily with another dog and loves having furry friends around. His easygoing nature and love for playtime make him an ideal addition to any home, especially one with other dogs to keep him company. Breu is neutered and up to date on all his vaccines, so he's ready to start his new life with you today. This sweet, loving boy is dying for a place to call home, where he can give all his love and receive the same in return. If you're ready to offer Breu the forever home he's been waiting for, apply to adopt him at https://peace4paws.org/adoption-application. Story
Meet Bluey, the 8 month old 35 lb 'double shot of espresso' in pup form. This little Heeler dynamo is full of enthusiasm with so much love to give. She’s doing wonderfully in her foster home, and working diligently on her manners. Bluey has mastered the "off" command, "no" and "leave it" along with "sit" while waiting for meals, treats and toys. Bluey strives to have direction and rules in her life. She is smart and learns quickly with proper training and without distractions. All she truly wants is a quick pat on the head or some positive words and she is satisfied - a real happy go lucky gal. Bluey is housebroken, sweet, and well on her way to being the perfect companion. She sleeps like a dream in her crate at night getting in by herself, giving everyone a peaceful night’s rest. During the day, she’s a playful ball of energy, and a fenced yard where she can run and play fetch is just the kind of space this little adventurer needs. While Bluey is happy to play with other dogs, she is an “in-your-face” kind of pup—always ready to engage and explore with others.  She’s also doing great on walks. Bluey pulls on the leash occasionally, but overall she’s a pleasure to take on adventures around the neighborhood. This gal is still learning to play with toys and loves having chew toys on hand to keep her occupied. Because of her energy and her instinctual herding nature, a home with older kids (around 10 and up) or a family familiar with Heelers would be ideal. Bluey would thrive with people who understand her breed’s intelligence, drive, and love for life. But with all of her energy, she loves nothing more at the end of a long day to cuddle and be your buddy on the couch. Overall, Bluey is a fantastic pup—playful, loving, and loyal. She’s just a typical Heeler, full of spirit and potential, and ready to become your best friend. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, adventurous companion, Bluey could be the perfect match for you. Story
Meet Bear, the best boy you'll ever meet and the biggest lap dog you'll have the pleasure of cuddling with! This 7-month-old Great Danoodle (a lovable mix of Great Dane and Poodle) is currently a lanky, goofy puppy, but don't let that fool you—he has the potential to grow into a stunning 70-100lb gentle giant. Originally from Kentucky, Bear's owner was deployed and won't be able to return for a while, which means this sweet boy is looking for his forever home. Bear is everything you'd want in a family dog. He's incredibly affectionate, loyal, and full of personality. He’s never met a stranger—whether it’s people, dogs, or even cats, Bear is an instant friend to everyone he meets. With his big heart and loving nature, he’ll easily fit into any family dynamic, bringing joy and laughter wherever he goes. His playful spirit is matched only by his angelic demeanor, making him an absolute gem for anyone lucky enough to welcome him into their home. Although Bear is up to date on all his vaccines, he will need to be neutered when the time is right. If you're looking for a smart, loving, and irresistibly cuddly companion, Bear is your guy.
