Story

Meet Zed Zed arrived at the shelter with his brother Zander, who was adopted. This hound mix (maybe beagle and others) is friendly with everyone! Approximately 11 months old and about 35 pounds as of September 2024, Zed puts the “tri” in “tricolor.” He’s all puppy, ready to play. For a young dog who hasn’t had much training, he’s fairly calm on the leash. Zed likes to lie in the grass and has an endearing way of occasionally throwing himself to the ground during his walks so that he can get a good belly rub before continuing. (We're not sure why, but he's recently become fearful of the environment outside the shelter gate. We're confident that once he's acclimated to a new home and family, he'll become more adventurous again.) Zed would do well with an active family who’s ready to give him lots of puppy training. He’ll reward them with love and companionship. We think he’ll learn fast in his forever home. A fenced in yard would be ideal. Older kids, please, because Zed's play style is too rough for little ones. He's at a great age to be adopted--no more teething, but still full of puppy wiggles and fun. Story

This adorable guy is Wizard, another newcomer to the shelter, having arrived mid-October 2024. He’s an energetic pup at 9 months old. He currently weighs 45 pounds and still has a bit of growing to do. Wizard has a gorgeous golden coat and a great smile. He'll bring lots of love and fun to his adopter. Because he has so much energy, we think he’d do better in a house than an apartment, and a fenced-in yard would be ideal. He should do fine with older kids and would be happy with a canine friend as well! Wizard is a quick study who already knows "sit." He's ready to learn how to walk nicely on a leash and all the basics of good canine manners. Wizard is up to date on vaccines and neutered. Interested in adopting this happy, friendly guy? Story

Skye is an awesome shepherd mix who arrived at the shelter late November 2024 from a neglectful situation. Despite her history, her sleek black coat is gleaming. And she has cute tan paws. This beautiful, athletic girl is going to be a fantastic companion for some lucky family. She loves people! She's highly intelligent and playful! We think she'll do great with both adults and older kids. She hasn't been at the shelter long enough for us to know if she likes other dogs and cats. Skye is 5 years old and currently underweight. We're trying to fatten her up just enough to keep her healthy. She loves to run and play and to give and get affection. She is smart and quick to learn. Walking, jogging, hiking, playing ball . . . do you need a buddy to keep you company while enjoying activities like these? Then you can curl up together and take it easy. Skye will do well with a single person or a family ready to give her love, exercise, and consistency. A fenced-in yard would be great, but she'll do alright with plenty of leash walks. Hi!! I'm Cedar, and all I want from life is to play ball and cuddle my humans. I play hard and I love hard, and I'm whip smart to boot! I love going on car rides, especially if they end in a hike, and I'm eager to please, especially when there is a treat at the end of it. Cedar is a 5 year old mix, and has been with me since he was 8 weeks old. He is good with kids and great with dogs once he gets to know them. He is high energy and needs plenty of exercise, and he can't possibly play enough ball in his lifetime. He's very smart and knows lots of commands, and learns new things very quickly! He's fiercely loyal to his humans, and has a heart full of love to give. Anytime he isn't playing he can be found in my lap or cuddled next to me on the couch. And be prepared to be woken up with aggressive kissing in the morning! Unfortunately my husband lost his job and I'm in school and can no longer afford Cedar's care. It breaks my heart to post him here but I can't let him starve.

Louie did not get much socialization as he grew up during the COVID days. He is very loving, loyal, and sweet to his own family and friends who he met during his puppy phase. However, he can be very aggressive to people he doesn't know when he was a puppy. He has bitten strangers before and it'll require someone with a lot of dog training and experience to earn his trust. He is very food motivated as well, so that may help during training. However once his trust is earned, he is an absolutely sweet and loyal dog.
