Story
Ole Roy is around 6 years old. He came into the shelter after walking into the garden center at Walmart--he just wanted to stop and smell the roses! We thought Roy was deaf, so we made a vet appointment. The vet says that the only thing wrong with him is his hard head! LOLRoy is a good dog. He will walk good on a leash, but you have to be strong because he is a big baby and will pull you. He loves to chew on things so good chew toys that are not plastic or items that he could swallow and choke on are advisable. He loves to play ball and even will entertain himself with one. He knows basic commands like sit and stay! Roy is a very loveable dog and a big baby. He is housetrained. Roy likes treats but needs more leash work and would be better with a harness. When he is called, he goes right back into his kennel. He loves a good belly rub!Roy is fully vaxed, dewormed, neutered, and tested. He is HW negative!

Story
Paddy is a super playful boy who needs work on a leash and with jumping. He came in as a stray and was unclaimed, but is loving the life here as we give him good food, tasty treats, regular attention, and lots of play time! He has to be able to play or exercise to get his energy out, because he is wide open most likely due to his age. He jumps for joy every time he meets someone new, and loves everyone he meets. He has done good with other dogs playing and older children due to his tendency to jump. With regular training and patience, and maybe a few chunks of hotdogs, he could have commands down pat. He knew no commands when he came in, but it didn’t take him long at all to learn “sit” and “down”. He had no idea what a toy is, and is still a little blown away by the science of a tennis ball, but loves every new experience to figure out something new. He is ready for a lifetime of well deserved love in his own home with other pups to play and a family to treat him right. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, dewormed, Heartworm negative, and will be microchipped upon adoption!

Story
Lorelai came in with 3 other dogs as a stray and had a full healthy litter of puppies only two days after her entry into the shelter. She raised 4 beautiful babies that were her joy! Her babies and 3 dog friends have since moved on from the shelter, leaving Lorelai the only one left out of the 8! She keeps a clean kennel when she is let out to potty regularly, and has been working tirelessly on her leash manners- which she has excelled at. She likes to run and play, and other dogs who run and play with her bring out the best side of Lorelai. She doesn’t like when a leash pulls on her neck, but doesn’t pull on the leash excessively. She just needs to be reminded every so often that it’s okay when she feels the pull of a leash. Because of this, a fenced area may be preferred so she can have room to stretch her legs. She is very toy and food motivated, and is a very quick learner. She is working on her “rummaging” as well, as we believe she had been hungry for a bit when she came in and had to find her food on her own. The more she learns that she will no longer go without food or love, the better she gets every day with her tiny quirks that makes up her extremely bright and lovable personality. Lorelai will soon be spayed, and is up to date on vaccines and can be microchipped upon adoption. Come meet her at 442 Landfill Rd Mt Gilead NC 27306 for a chance to welcome in this ray of sunshine to your home!

Story
If you are looking for a dog with a big personality, Bindy is the one for you. She has lots of facial expressions and she knows how to use them! She loves any type of attention and is very treat motivated, making us believe that the fact she needs a little command work will be a breeze. She still has some weight to gain and is heart worm positive but has already started treatment and is doing great with her weight gain and treatment. Bindy would be great in a home with other dogs as she loves to play, and likes to be involved in activity with her people! She has already mastered the sit command and is currently working on learning more. She does amazing meeting new people and animals, and rides amazing as a passenger in a car. We are still learning about Bindy and she welcomes you to come meet her and learn about her too!

Story
Miss Penny here gets her name from being confident that she is as “pretty as a Penny”. She is a beautiful girl with a confident voice-but doesn’t overuse it either. She loves to be around other dogs who interact with her at her energy level, which is fairly calm. She has mastered being a good girl, with her abilities being house trained, crate trained, and simple commands. However, she is very treat motivated and will learn more commands very fast. She walks great on a leash, making her a possible candidate for walking with kids or someone elderly! Penny is the type of girl to greet everyone that comes her way, making sure to get a head scratch before continuing on her way. She would be great as a single dog or in a multi dog home, with just one human family member or multiple, as long as she gets a little attention every now and then and a cozy place to rest her head at night. She is ready to be your front porch sitting, sunset watching, car ride savvy pup today. Don’t hesitate to come meet her, you won’t regret it!
