Story
Memorial: In Loving Memory- June 2023. Putt, Putt. This sweet boy finally lost his battle to live a quality life due to some major health issues.  He was a 16 plus-year-old cocker boy and a lifetime haven dog due to heart health issues and then some other medical needs came up that made his life miserable. We did everything we could to help him live but couldn't save him as he got weak and lost his battle to live. In his memory we ask that you consider making a donation to help care for the other rescue dogs still available and needing homes. Thank you for your kindness! Putnam, or Putt, Putt as we called him was a small, blonde 16 plus year old plus cocker boy. One New Year's Day, He was lost and wondering the roads until he was picked up as a stray in West Virginia by Animal Control. Because no owner showed up to claim him and he was older, the shelter asked for rescue help to get him updated on vet care and find him a good home. He was heartworm negative, kind of shy and just a real sweet guy that was pretty well house trained. He wasn't able to find his forever home because heart health issues came up that would not get better. He would have been a wonderful companion for someone to adopt and love but his heart issues continued to get worse and now there was nothing we could do to make it any better except keep him on meds. Recently, some other medical issues came up and we did what we could to save him but it wasn't meant to be and we had to say goodbye. Putt Put would greatly appreciate it if you could donate to this rescue to help with the care of all the cocker dogs now up for adoption or those in lifetime haven care like Honey. Please send your donation to CCR, P.O. Box 1050, Kannapolis, NC 28081 or by PayPal to larrydonnacarp@aol.com. Thank you for your kindness to help our rescue dogs. Donations Needed and Appreciated: This sweet cocker boy has come to rescue and needs a major dental with teeth removal. He is a senior, so he will need fluids and antibiotics. Please help CCR to pay his vet bills, we need to raise $300 to $400 dollars for his vet care.

No Phone Calls -Please fill out an adoption application, send it back to us and we will review and return calls. Go to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save an application. Email it back to larrydonnacarp@aol.com to be approved. No Elderly Owners due to his past history. He will do best with an owner 50 years old or younger. He is an active dog and would be too much for a senior owner. Absolutely no children or grandkids. Meet JoJo, an active, handsome 7 1/2-year-old black n white Cavalier-Basset mix. His owner bought him from a breeder. He will be 8 in October. When he decided to move, he turned him into a shelter where he was taken in by a rescue. He bit several of their people, and they didn't know how to deal with him, so he came to us. Every day we have worked with him, challenged him and corrected him to behave properly. We have not quit on him just because he needs to learn things. He has been with us for 3 1/2 years and has made tremendous progress. His issues are doable if you listen to our suggestions and what we have learned works for him to be a good dog. He needs a calm adult only home with a good alpha owner willing to work with him. A fenced yard is a must. He is crate trained, mostly house trained and eats well at mealtimes. A home with few visitors and limited distractions is a plus. No children, no grandchildren and no senior owners due to his past. He can be with other dogs but doesn't do well with big dogs and cannot be in a home with Pitt Bulls. He is most comfortable with Cocker Spaniels and Corgi's, but he is not a dog who likes to play with them. He is very selective with who he likes and will bond well with you once he knows you. He can be a goofy guy, likes to play fetch, is a bit jealous at times and he enjoys mealtimes. A woman groomer is best when he needs a bath and haircut. His adoption fee is $400.

Fill it out and email it back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Prince, a very friendly, neutered one and a half to 2-year-old, red n white Cocker Spaniel boy. He was an abandoned dog taken in at a NC shelter. He was cleaned up, vetted for shots and then got adopted out to a new home. A short time after, he was brought back to the shelter because it just didn't work out with a senior owner. He is super friendly, somewhat house trained and updated on vet care. He is healthy, easy going, crate trained and a calm/lazy kind of guy. He loves sitting on a chair or at your feet. He has not shown any signs of aggression, he gets along best with Cockers his size that are not dominate and he is not good with big dogs. A home with children 10 and older is best, no young kids and a fenced yard is an absolute must. This boy needs a family that will love him and help him to thrive. Adoption Fee $500

No Phone Calls. If you are interested in adopting this sweet Cocker girl, please go to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Fill it out and email it back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Jackie, a 7-year-old chocolate and tan Cocker Spaniel girl. She is a retired breeder dog that has not had much attention or love. She came in with another retired breeder dog and we quickly found out that the owners lied to us when they had their vet evaluations. Both girls had major mammary masses requiring extensive radical mastectomies. Jackie also has mastitis too. She is now spayed; tumor was removed and just needed to let mastitis clear. Biopsy on tumor came back as carcinoma, low grade cancer and they got all of it. 2nd surgery is scheduled for June 10th for radical mammary chain removal. The ideal home for this sweet girl must be willing to house train, teach her to walk on a leash and you must have a secure fenced yard. She craves attention and love and is a busy girl who likes to explore. Watching her outside, she knows how to open an unlocked gate. This said, you must always have a closed padlock on it to keep her safe from getting out. She does not do well with male dogs at all, and she is in breeder fight mode when around other female dogs. We have no past history with big dogs, cats or children. Her adoption fee is $400.00.

No Phone Calls, she is available now. If you are interested in adopting this sweet cocker girl, please go to charlottecockerrescue.org to download and save our application. Fill it out and email it back to us to be approved. We will review it and return calls. Meet Bitsy, a 2-year-old gray merle Cocker Spaniel girl. She came to rescue with another cocker girl from a disabled lady who could not keep them due to some unfortunate family issues and no one in the family stepped up to take them. Her birthday is April 14th, 2022. They came from a breeder. She is heartworm negative, has now been spayed and updated on vet care. She is sweet, friendly, a good car rider and walks pretty well on a leash. She is good at the groomer but doesn't care to have her nails done. She hasn't spent a lot of time around men, but she did like the lady's husband who gave her attention. Currently, she is in a foster home, but they are only keeping her until she finds a home. She is a good girl, loves attention and quality time with you would make her very happy. She will need house training help in a new home and a fenced yard is a must. With her owner, she ate her meals and slept in a big, oversized kennel. It was her safe place. Bitsy will do well in a family home with a husband and wife. She has never been around cats or children. Her adoption fee is $500.00

Finn is an awesome dog that loves other dogs and kids! He loves to run and play and loves to cuddle and will give you lots of kisses. He is crate, trained, and housebroken. He’s just not able to stay with us at our new home because of our landlord.
