Story
Meet Avi! He is the true meaning of rescue. Avi used to live with an abusive owner, until we changed his path! He has come so far, and has been clicker trained, but is still healing and will need a patient adopter who is willing to continue his training. He is about 9 years old and weighs around 55 lbs. He loves everyone he meets, but is not good with children or cats, and doesn't understand why they move so fast. He is slow to trust, but very playful and affectionate once he knows he is safe. Avi will jump a fence that is smaller than 6 ft tall, and will need long daily walks. He currently lives with and loves his boxer bulldog mix foster brother, but knows he is the pretty one! A home with another playful husky or other dog similar in size would be ideal! HUSKY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED. CANNOT BE PLACED WITH CHILDREN OR CATS. If you want to be a part of Avi's recovery and future, and are willing to invest in long term training, apply for him today! His adoption fee is $25. https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/LOUC/Dog All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Between July 8th and 31st my adoption fee is sponsored! Thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters campaign, my new family can take me home at no cost to them! Please apply online to start the adoption process-- I can't wait to meet you! Meet Petey! Petey is a 8-year-old, 56lb Pitt Bull mix who loves lounging at home with his people. A perfect day for Petey would include exploring his yard, a brief 5-minute play session, followed by napping the rest of the day away! He is a low-key guy that takes time to warm up to new people. Once he realizes you're his friend he likes to stay close. Petey is house trained and crate trained, though he would prefer to free roam. Although he is a low energy dog, he does not enjoy other dogs, cats or children and will need an adult-only, calm, quiet home. Petey is searching for a family who will help give him the confidence and time he needs to be his best self! If you are interested in a loyal, couch-loving buddy, Petey may be the one for you! His adoption fee is sponsored. Between July 8th and 31st, my adoption fee is sponsored! Thanks to the Bissell Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters campaign, my new family can take me home for only $50! Please apply online to start the adoption process-- I can't wait to meet you! Say HELLO to Apollo! This big man is a 6.5-year-old, 66lb sweetheart. Although his life didn't start out the best, he is determined to find his furever family. He is crate trained and house trained. He's a minimal barker but will whine when he wants to go outside. Apollo, like Herman Munster is a love bug that doesn't realize his own size or strength. He would do best in a home with older children and without small animals. Apollo knows how to sit but hasn't quite gotten the hang of holding the command for long. He also struggles with keeping all four paws on the floor, but hopes you'll overlook it as he's so darn cute! He loves to be with people and hasn't met a stranger. The big lug will try to sit in your lap! He would love a low key forever home. Apply to adopt this hunk today! His adoption fee is $275.00. Please apply online to start the adoption process-- I can't wait to meet you! Meet Marley, the ultimate chilled-out, easy-going dog who's ready to bring some peace and love into your life. This 4-year-old mixed breed boy is a big ol' bundle of love and fun, who gets along with everyone he meets. He's the best of friends with humans, and loves nothing more than snuggling up for some quality lap time. At 65 pounds, Marley is a big boy, but most of that weight is in his head - which just happens to bobble adorably when he's excited. But don't let the goofy exterior fool you - Marley is one smart cookie. He's already learned some basic commands, and he's a quick learner when it comes to picking up new routines. He's also crate-trained and has excellent house manners, making him a perfect fit for any home. Marley is a medium-energy dog who loves to play, but he's also happy to relax and soak up some affection. He's adjusting well to his foster home, but would love a forever family who can give him plenty of love, patience, and guidance as he continues to learn the ropes of living in a house. Marley's perfect home would be one in which he is the only pet. With Marley by your side, you'll have a loyal companion who will bring you endless joy and happiness. So if you're ready to feel the love and get jammin' with your new best friend, then Marley is the dog for you! Marley's adoption fee is $275. Please apply online to start the adoption process-- I can't wait to meet you! Meet Pixie! She is a fluffy and cute 7 year old, 10-lb Havanese who loves hanging out and being independent. Her superpowers include being able to sprinkle her pixie dust of cuteness all through out the house. Pixie has a spunky personality and loves when her canine foster friends are around - she just can't wag her tail fast enough. She enjoys being around feline friends too. Pixie is still unsure of getting pets and does not like being picked up, but she will greet you with full body excitement and sneak a few licks in when you aren't paying attention! She 100% loves being part of the family. Pixie will happily run right into her crate and sleeps in there each night without making a peep. She is working on house training and will need a home with a securely fenced yard to assist her with this. She is medium to low energy and a ball of joy. Some of her favorite things are eating treats and watching TV with her foster family! Pixie is going to need a patient adopter who will allow her to learn to trust humans again. If your family wants to help this girl blossom and allow her to show all who she can be in this world, Pixie is the gal for you! Also, don't forget about her sprinkling her Pixie dust of cuteness on your heart! Her adoption fee is $300. Story
Meet Romy! Romy is a 4-year-old, 18-pound Bichon Frise. It's wonderful that Romy is getting a chance to learn how to be a dog after spending her early life in a puppy mill. To help her adjust, a quiet, low-key, and patient home is essential. Another dog's presence could be beneficial, but it's not necessary. Housebreaking and leash training will be part of her learning process. Patience and positive reinforcement training will be key to helping her become more comfortable around people and adapt to her new environment. Romy is currently being fostered in the Cincinnati, OH area. Her adoption fee is $300. Romy is a Patron Pup. Patron Pups have higher adoption fees due to varying reasons and are adopted quickly, even with these higher adoption fees. They may be purebred, a highly desirable breed, small in size fully grown, etc. These fees allow them to act as patrons to other pets in our care who may not be as adoptable, or have ongoing costs for medical care, contributing to a longer time in rescue, and therefore a higher cost for us to care for them. Patron Pups allow us to continue rescuing these other animals and give them a better chance at finding their forever homes as well. To adopt this animal, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination.
