Despite my visual impairment, I navigate the world with grace and curiosity. My other senses are keen, and I rely on them to explore my surroundings. I even learned to use a doggie door before my friends who have good eyesite! I will be someone's loyal companion. I love cuddling up and listening to the sounds of the world outside. My blindness doesn’t hold me back; instead, I think it adds to my charm. I like basking in the sun, treats and lap time. I'd like a quiet home, a cozy spot by the window where I can feel the sun and hear the birds and a a soft bed. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). Little Daisy has been through a lot in her 2.5 years of life. A few weeks ago, Daisy was found curled up on her humans lap….except her human mom had passed away. Daisy’s loyalty never wavered and she stayed right by her side until her human mom’s family came. Daisy made her way to the shelter and began her search for a forever home. Since arriving into CO, we’ve discovered this girl isn’t as shy as we once thought! Once she’s comfortable, she really lets loose and loves to play. She’s in foster with an older kiddo and multiple other dogs and she’s wonderful with each! Daisy is also crate trained and seems house trained. She’s a peanut at only 13 lbs and she is pretty afraid of a leash, therefore a securely fenced yard is requested for potty time. Who doesn't love the royal treatment? And in Princess' case, she certainly deserves it! This little dog has a lot of personality packed inside that tiny body and will be happy to show you just how regal she is. She's been diagnosed with arthritis and her new friends at the shelter will be happy to tell you more about what she'll need to lead a comfortable life, but she personally would like to tell you that she'll require a home with no cats or other small animals and she'd do best with older children. Juno is a little 2.5lb, 10 week old Chiweenie mix. We are guessing Juno and her siblings will be about 8-12lbs when full grown. Juno and her 6 siblings, along with her Momma were surrendered to us because their humans couldn't afford to care for them, or to get them fixed so more litters didn't happen in the future. Juno and her siblings are adorably tiny babies so have been well socialized with dogs, cats, and humans. While they are tiny they still love to romp around the yard with big and small dogs, follow their humans around the house, and snuggle up in a puppy-puddle during nap time. These pups will be wonderful little family members. While they are tiny, they will still need socialization, and fun adventures. They would love to go for daily walks/hikes/outings, and would be happy to have a four-legged sibling. They do not NEED a another dog in the home as long as their humans have enough time and energy to spend with them and play with them.
