Animal Profile: Mulan is some type of adorable Hawaiian mixed breed who is approximately 7 months old and 15 lbs so she'll likely be around 20 lbs when full grown. She and her sibling (or niece or aunt -- we're not really sure) Tiana -- a dynamic duo also lovingly referred to as the short and long princesses -- will be joined us from Hawaii on Thursday August 8th. These girls were picked up from a property of 15 dogs, most young and apparently several different litters. Adults have been altered so no more oopsies litters. Foster Update: Mulan is a bit timid when meeting new people but she is warming up to her fosters quickly! She is really sweet and gives kisses, loves to be with/near people but she does not always need to have constant attention. Now that she is settled in with her fosters, she LOVES to snuggle. She likes to be held like a baby and get cozy! Mulan Ioves to play. Some of her favorite toys are the crinkly soft toys (with an empty plastic bottle inside it), soft toys with "limbs" to chomp on. She hasn't started fetch yet but we think she might figure it out soon! Mulan is working on crate training. She will happily go in for meal times and when going to bed, or after playtime for a cozy nap. Her fosters are working on helping her be settled when left alone.Mulan has met cats and is doing well so far with them with supervision. She is still a bit awkward with her leash manners and she’s got some off the basics down with commands but this will take a bit of ongoing training support and leadership. Mulan is a playful energetic puppy with tons of potential to learn and be a great best friend and adventure buddy! She is young and has a fair amount to learn but she’s a real gem and will be a great family pet or ride or die bestie for someone up for adventures! UNFORTUNATELY, ONE OF THEM TESTED POSITIVE FOR DISTEMPER AND, BECAUSE THE DISEASE WAS ALREADY VERY ADVANCED, HE DIED A FEW DAYS AFTER STARTING HIS TREATMENT. ELMER AND THE OTHER PUPPY, TITAN, WERE PLACED IN QUARANTINE AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE. HOWEVER, ONE DAY AFTER THE END OF QUARANTINE, TITAN SHOWED DISTEMPOR SYMPTOMS AND, LIKE THE FIRST PUPPY, DIED DESPITE RECEIVING TREATMENT. THIS WAS HOW ELMER BECAME THE ONLY SURVIVOR OF THIS RESCUE. TODAY ELMER IS COMPLETELY HEALTHY AND WITHOUT ANY KIND OF SEQUEL AND IS LOOKING FOR A LOVING FAMILY THAT WILL CONSENT HIM. ELMER IS A FAITHFUL COMPANION WHO LOVES TO BE HUGGED AND Cuddled. Animal Profile: Bamboo is an estimated 4-year-old 40 lb neutered male Hawaii mixed breed (possibly Basset Hound with whippet... or something...) with the cutest stubby legs, joining us from Hawaii to Seattle area foster care on Tuesday July 9th. Bummer he has some fire ant damage to his right eye but his vision is not affected. This boy is wiggly but happy to go on walks and breezes right by barking dogs in kennels. He needs training on leash but is not reactive, wanted to chase a cat on intro but was easily called away. He did excellent for vet exams -- easy to handle and no resource guarding shown. He loves a kiddie pool and has a nice play style with other dogs and super friendly to all people. He would like other dogs who can tolerate some chasing and tumbling. More info to come as we get to know him in foster care. Foster Update: Bamboo is such a friendly pup! He wants to meet everyone he comes in contact with and is happy if he can give them a lick or a hug. He is energetic and athletic and loves long walks and even runs–amazing with those cute stubby legs! He will need continued work on his leash skills as he is a bit of a puller, especially when he encounters a squirrel or other small creature, but he is making great progress with a training collar. Bamboo is crate trained and settles well in the house, but prefers to spend his time next to, or on top of, his people. Be prepared for a somewhat oversized lap dog if you are interested in adopting this snuggly guy! Bamboo is gentle and doing well with the toddler in his foster home. He is friendly with other dogs and enjoys a good game of chase. We think he would be fine as an only dog or with another pup to run around and get his energy out. He has spent some time in a temp foster and has done very well with their dog savvy cat. He is interested but friendly and has not chased at all. This friendly guy will make a great addition to any family! I'm still a youngster yet of only around a year old. I'm playful, sweet and most definitely charming. Just a look at this handsome mug and it's really really hard to say No. A total master at those 'puppy dog eyes'!!! I would do best in a home with older children 8+ and a secure fenced yard. I can tend to sometimes try to dash out the front door so precautions will need to be made so I can't do that. I'm crate trained and partially house trained. I'm doing well with my continuing training and the crating while away helps with not going in the house.
