HE WAS FOUND WITH TWO PUPPIES UNDER A HIGHWAY BRIDGE. UNFORTUNATELY, ONE OF THEM TESTED POSITIVE FOR DISTEMPER AND, BECAUSE THE DISEASE WAS ALREADY VERY ADVANCED, HE DIED A FEW DAYS AFTER STARTING HIS TREATMENT. ELMER AND THE OTHER PUPPY, TITAN, WERE PLACED IN QUARANTINE AS A PREVENTIVE MEASURE. HOWEVER, ONE DAY AFTER THE END OF QUARANTINE, TITAN SHOWED DISTEMPOR SYMPTOMS AND, LIKE THE FIRST PUPPY, DIED DESPITE RECEIVING TREATMENT. THIS WAS HOW ELMER BECAME THE ONLY SURVIVOR OF THIS RESCUE. TODAY ELMER IS COMPLETELY HEALTHY AND WITHOUT ANY KIND OF SEQUEL AND IS LOOKING FOR A LOVING FAMILY THAT WILL CONSENT HIM. ELMER IS A FAITHFUL COMPANION WHO LOVES TO BE HUGGED AND Cuddled. Animal Profile: Mulan is some type of adorable Hawaiian mixed breed who is approximately 7 months old and 15 lbs so she'll likely be around 20 lbs when full grown. She and her sibling (or niece or aunt -- we're not really sure) Tiana -- a dynamic duo also lovingly referred to as the short and long princesses -- will be joined us from Hawaii on Thursday August 8th. These girls were picked up from a property of 15 dogs, most young and apparently several different litters. Adults have been altered so no more oopsies litters.  Foster Update:    Mulan is a bit timid when meeting new people but she is warming up to her fosters quickly! She is really sweet and gives kisses, loves to be with/near people but she does not always need to have constant attention.  Now that she is settled in with her fosters, she LOVES to snuggle. She likes to be held like a baby and get cozy!  Mulan Ioves to play. Some of her favorite toys are the crinkly soft toys (with an empty plastic bottle inside it), soft toys with "limbs" to chomp on.  She hasn't started fetch yet but we think she might figure it out soon!  Mulan is working on crate training. She will happily go in for meal times and when going to bed, or after playtime for a cozy nap. Her fosters are working on helping her be settled when left alone.Mulan has met cats and is doing well so far with them with supervision. She is still a bit awkward with her leash manners and she’s got some off the basics down with commands but this will take a bit of ongoing training support and leadership. MEET CRAIG - This sweet, gentle and quiet 10-year-old Dachshund mix was saved from a California shelter, and was so very thin when rescued. But now he's at a healthy weight and looks great! Dogs don't come any sweeter than Craig, who is quiet, easygoing and just a love to have around. Craig will make a wonderful companion for someone who has a peaceful and quiet home. He deserves to be pampered after all he's been through. He's loves other dogs, too. Craig weighs about 15 lbs. and is currently in a foster home. Please email for an application.

They have done well with all dogs they have met here, and are joyful, playful pups who adore each other and do everything together. We are looking for a home with children over the age of 8, or an adult only home for these cuties. Most dogs require a fenced yard. We seek fully fenced yards with a physical, visible fence. He is a good citizen with other canines once he knows them, and he requests a secure fenced yard and friends for him to romp and run with. Choco learns to trust his people, though he is not always so sure of new people. Choco is smart and loves cookies, chewy bones, and other toys and treats. He came to us as a nearly feral dog, and although he has come incredibly far with us, he is not perfect. He is not a snuggly type dog, but likes to share space with you. He thrives in a place that doesn't have huge expectations for him. He has yet to come to understand walking on lead, and it is unclear whether this will ever truly happen. He likes to come and sit with you and hang out where you are, and it is well worth getting to know him.
