Available to adopt: Lou Current Location: Outside Chicago, IL Hello! My name is Dippy Lou! I typically just go by Lou though. “Spirited” is the word often used to describe me. I think it’s a pretty good word! I am 2 years-old and am definitely on the taller side of the boxer spectrum for girls! But I will admit, even though I am a bigger girl, I am still a little scared of meeting new people and men in particular. I will warm up after a bit and then just want you to see me and love me as much as possible. My foster parents say that I am a pretty dominant girl and will need a home that will continue to work on my training and not let me push them around!I love to run and play with other dogs and would love one or two in my new home. They really should be the same size or bigger than me as I am kind of a bully to smaller dogs. I just don’t understand my size! I also REALLY enjoy chasing cats, so if you are looking for someone to scare off cats, I am your girl! But if you love your cat, I am probably not the girl for you. I would really like a fenced in yard that I can run and play in safely. I am a good girl in my crate, though I demand what is called the “airline” style crate with the big plastic sides as the wire crates are a piece of cake to break out of. I can stay in my crate for up to 8 hours with no problems! It is encouraged that my new home understands my needs for some good old down time and is on board with letting me hang out in my crate. Trust me, it will be for my sanity, and yours! I love ALL toys. I like being groomed and pampered and I am pretty smart too. I know basic commands and I walk pretty well on a leash. I don’t have any medical concerns, but I am a picky eater. I am a lady after all! I tend to like foods with a fish ingredient more, as fish helps me keep my slender figure!Ultimately, I am a real sweet girl, I just need some guidance and a nice family who will welcome me and continue teaching me how to be my best girly self! Available to Adopt - Gully Current location - Fort Wayne, IN Sometimes, you just have to take a chance on love. Who among us hasn’t at some time? Back in March, we took a chance on this beautiful boy. Is he a boxer mix? Yes. But, that didn’t matter. If we didn’t take a chance, Gully was likely to be euthanized at the shelter he was being housed at, after being found as a stray. He was in pretty bad shape, was very skinny with many compression sores and an infection. Even with all the unknowns, this good boy melted our hearts and we took that chance on him. We knew his medical needs could be taken care of and we had hoped to find him that perfect home and improve on the poor life he’d known previously. Fast forward, over 250 days later…. No, that is not a typo. This boy has been with us that long, hoping someone will take a chance on him again. Is he happy, healthy and well cared for? Oh yes, by one of our amazing fosters. But, he wasn’t meant to stay in foster care forever. He’s meant to be in his own permanent, loving home. To be honest, we are having a tough time finding that. Is it because he doesn’t look “boxery” enough? Is it because he would do best as an only pet? We really don’t know for sure, but we are asking for your help in finding his family. Could it be you? Could it be someone you know who is just looking for a great dog? Please share his information with them. Gully is estimated to be 2-4 years old, so well beyond puppy antics. He is very trainable and loves to play and follow you around. In his foster home, he is living with other dogs under supervision, so it is possible he can be around others occasionally. In his permanent home, we do feel he’d do best on his own. In this season of giving, are you able to give this boy the home he deserves? Are you willing to take that chance on 4-legged love? He’d love to impress you with his kidney beaned buttwiggles, but first, let us tell you some things he will need in his forever home to set him up for success. This boy needs a strong alpha leader, someone who will have set consistent expectations and enforce them, to keep him in check. He is a very smart boy and needs his owner to keep him busy and challenged. Valentino isn’t a couch potato and doesn’t like to be ignored. He is an active 4 year old and needs to stay active and keep his brain engaged to thrive. Tino has been staying with our friends at the Dog Wizard in Medina. While in their care, he has made great progress with his social skills. He is playful, loves to go for walks, and he has graduated to being able to have play dates, participate in pack walks and also doggy daycare. Ultimately, we believe it is best for him to be the only pet in his new home, but he would be able to socialize with others in a controlled environment. Valentino does not necessarily require a fence, but if one is not present, there will need to be a consistent plan for regular walks. Tino needs to exercise and to keep his mind busy. Need a running buddy? He’d likely love that. Do you think you could be the strong leader this boy deserves? While his first 4 years may not have been the greatest, we aim to make the rest of his life wonderful. Please note that all meet and greets will take place at the Dog Wizard, and his adopter will be required to take an abbreviated training course with him. ##2122141##
