Story
Bessie is the black lab in the photo. She is still hoping for a forever home for what remaining time she has left. Bessie is a LOVE BUG with humans. Just melts with attention. She's a food hound and can be mouthy when taking treats, but otherwise she's a gentle girl. Bessie is good with other dogs, but does need a slow intro period. She's just nervous and can bark/try to scare the other dog off at first. Once she knows they aren't out to attack her she's fine. Bessie is a sweetheart and is probably 12+ years old. She was heartworm positive and we did the slow treatment method. She also had a couple small lumps removed, they weren't cancerous. She can be stiff at times, but she's overweight and older so that's to be expected. Some arthritis medication as needed is a good idea. Bessie's adoption fee is waived. She just wants a home.

Story
Updated Bio as of June 2023: Jupiter was originally found as a lost pup with her 2 brothers in a corn field during winter. She nearly froze to death, she was so cold she couldn't run/move quickly and people were able to catch her. They were all very thin and had to fight to survive with the coyotes out there. Jupiter is learning to trust humans and will be a happy dog around me but still skittish over touch. With new people she will take time to warm up for sure. Jupiter's adoption fee is sponsored. She is ok with other dogs but initially acts like she's aggressive. It's the survival mode in her. Once she knows they aren't going to hurt her she warms up. She will need to be fed separately from other animals.

Not good with cats,
Story
If you're looking for that bully breed smile and cuddling personality then Sadie is your girl! She's all love and wiggles with humans and doesn't know a stranger. She is good with most other dogs, but can be over reactive to high arousal situations. Meaning no dog parks for this girl. She loves to play with toys and will throw the toy and chase it down herself. She loves her people and wants to be with you. She doesn't like cats and she's nervous in new situations. Sadie came from a terrible hoarding situation. (https://www.kshb.com/news/local-news/ray-county-sheriffs-office-breaks-up-puppy-mill-50-to-70-dogs-found-on-property) she is looking for a forever home willing to give her stability, rules, and help her be her best self. Sadie is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $200.

Story
Our son adopted Maizy when she was a puppy. She is now 7 years old. She has been a great companion. Our son recently got married, his wife has a 2 year old daughter and they are expecting another daughter next month. They have become concerned with Maizy's "resource guarding". So we agreed to "recuse" Maizy. However, with our own dog and cat, it has become too much for me. I am 72 years old, and have just been placed on a wait list for a lung transplant. Maizy is a sweet girl. But ideally, she needs a home with no pets and small children.

Louie was adopted at 2 months. He is 3 years old. He is house trained. He knows how to sit, lay, and stay. He is energetic but will chill out with you. Benefits from running around a yard or going on a walk. He likes to be around others all the time. He did well with our kids ages 16,10, and 6. We had a baby in 2022. Needs time to adjust to a new baby coming into the house.
