Story
Hi! I’m Joey and I’m a fabulous 13 year old senior gentleman. I don’t mean to brag, but I’m a very handsome red long-haired Chihuahua weighing just 10 lbs. I’m looking for my perfect family who will love me and provide me with a nice, quiet home in my golden years. I’m pretty happy with the simple things in life such as cuddling with my people, meal times and naps. I mean what else does one really need? If you’d like to run errands, I’m your man. I love to ride in the car and am the best little passenger you could ever have. Sometimes, though, I can get a little cranky when it comes to sharing my people with the other doggies. I would do well in a home where I’m the only dog, so the competition for mom or dad’s love won’t exist. Ideally, I would be pampered with attention in my golden years and not be subjected to youngsters, as that wouldn’t be so great for me or them. I would really love it if my new mom or dad would be at home with me more often than not, so I would not have to spend my days being left alone and crated. However, I don’t mind being crated for a couple of hours while my family runs errands. I know it might be asking a lot, but I do love sleeping in bed with foster mom at night and have become kinda spoiled, so a home that would continue to spoil me in that way would make me so happy. I’m working on potty training … let’s say I’m a work in progress. As I came from a puppy mill situation, I was not taught this skill as a young puppy, but I’m working on it now. I do have one small issue with my eyes called chronic dry eye which requires daily medication for the rest of my life. I am really very good about taking my medication for this so it is not a big deal. I am a lovable and sweet little man and would make a wonderful companion. I’m up to date on all my shots, am heartworm negative, on heartworm and flea preventative, neutered, microchipped, and de-wormed. Joey’s adoption fee is $250. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS. If you’re interested in having Joey as a part of your family, please fill out an application on AAP’s website.

Story
Hello there I’m Tilly…..I’m is a 5 year old Chihuahua girl who is a total love bug. I’m a bit shy when meeting new people but it doesn’t take long for me to be best buddy. A fenced yard is a must for me as I feel that I am the great squirrel hunter and I love to be outside. Chewing nylabones and going for car rides are on my top 10 favs as well. Foster mom says I am doing great going potty outside. Foster mom says I would better off in a home with older (12 and up) kids who are respectful of my space. I'm a total princess and do not want to share my new home with another pupTilly is up to date on all shots, heartworm negative, on heartworm preventative, microchipped, de-wormed and is spayed. Tilly’s adoption fee is $325.00. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS. Story
Hello there I’m Malcom, but I’m also known as “Mac”. I am a 9.5 year old Chihuahua/Rat Terrier. I have lived with the same family, with small children since I was rescued at one year old. I am generally comfortable with other dogs but sometimes I feel defensive when I am on a leash. I do great at doggie daycare and the dog park. I enjoy sleeping on a pile of blankets in front of a heating vent and playing catch. I am obsessed with balls! I would do best at a new home with a fenced in yard. I am mostly potty trained but sometimes I sneak off to pee in the house so I often wear a diaper to prevent any accidents when my parents can’t keep an eye on me. Malcom is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, on heartworm preventative, de-wormed, and microchipped. Malcom’s adoption fee is $250.00. Story
Hello there, I’m Maddie. I am 11 years old and have lived with the same family my whole life. I have lots of energy and I can jump very high so a tall fence is a must in my new home. I am certified as a K9 Good Citizen and can walk well on a leash. I am curious about other dogs walking near me and I am vocal when they pass my house. I do great at doggie daycare and the dog park with other dogs, especially my doggie brother, but I prefer the company of humans of all ages. I have helped raise three small kiddos and would do well in a house with kids. I am very tolerant of their curiosity and energy, plus I like to join in the play. I’m just an overall lovebug looking for a family with a lot of energy that wants a fun and loving companion. I am fully potty trained and although I prefer curling up on the couch, I am also kennel trained. I have some allergies and need a little medicine to keep me from chewing on my paws. Maddie is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, on heartworm preventative, de-wormed, and microchipped. Maddie’s adoption fee is $250.00. Story
Meet Oscar, a charming 6-year-old Miniature Schnauzer with a heart full of love. Oscar was surrendered to the shelter due to his barking when he was left crated all day, during his owner's absence. Oscar embodies the true Schnauzer spirit—intelligent, deeply attached to his humans, with a touch of anxiety and a robust vocal range that he doesn't hesitate to use. Oscar's is the ultimate "Velcro" dog who thrives on being close to his people. His ideal forever home is one where he will not be left alone for extended periods often. Cuddles and gentle pets are among Oscar's favorite delights, and he even knows a few tricks. He has done well in his foster home and finds confidence among his foster siblings, who've shown him the calmness of a supportive pack. A home with another gentle dog or two could be the perfect setting for Oscar, offering him companionship and easing his anxiety. Cats and Oscar share a peaceful coexistence; he shows no interest in them. However, warming up to new humans takes a moment—patience, gentle speech, and slow movements are the keys to winning his trust. Given his reactive nature when frightened, a home without small children or frequent visits by little ones would be best for Oscar. HIs new family must be committed to his adjustment period. Additionally, his history of door-dashing requires a securely fenced yard to keep him safe. While Oscar walks with a bit of enthusiasm that can sometimes translate into pulling, especially when other dogs or people are around, it's an area where ongoing patience and training are needed. He's a pro at crate and house training, though the transition to a new home might bring about a few accidents as he adjusts. We are not able to accept applications from apartments, condos, or any attached living situations due to history of barking and shelter surrender. We appreciate your understanding. Oscar is ready to fill his new home with love, loyalty, and a few well-timed barks. If you're looking for a smart, affectionate companion who sticks by your side, Oscar might just be the perfect match for your family. Oscar is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, on heartworm preventative, de-wormed, and microchipped. Oscar’s adoption fee is $350.00.
