Story
Hi! I’m Joey and I’m a fabulous 14 year old senior gentleman. I don’t mean to brag, but I’m a very handsome red long-haired Chihuahua weighing just 10 lbs. I’m looking for my perfect family who will love me and provide me with a nice, quiet home in my golden years. I’m pretty happy with the simple things in life such as cuddling with my people, meal times and naps. I mean what else does one really need? If you’d like to run errands, I’m your man. I love to ride in the car and am the best little passenger you could ever have. Sometimes, though, I can get a little cranky when it comes to sharing my people with the other doggies. I would do well in a home where I’m the only dog, so the competition for mom or dad’s love won’t exist. Ideally, I would be pampered with attention in my golden years and not be subjected to youngsters, as that wouldn’t be so great for me or them. I would really love it if my new mom or dad would be at home with me more often than not, so I would not have to spend my days being left alone and crated. However, I don’t mind being crated for a couple of hours while my family runs errands. I know it might be asking a lot, but I do love sleeping in bed with foster mom at night and have become kinda spoiled, so a home that would continue to spoil me in that way would make me so happy. I’m working on potty training … let’s say I’m a work in progress. As I came from a puppy mill situation, I was not taught this skill as a young puppy, but I’m working on it now. I do have one small issue with my eyes called chronic dry eye which requires daily medication for the rest of my life. I am really very good about taking my medication for this so it is not a big deal. I am a lovable and sweet little man and would make a wonderful companion. I’m up to date on all my shots, am heartworm negative, on heartworm and flea preventative, neutered, microchipped, and de-wormed. Joey’s adoption fee is $250. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS. If you’re interested in having Joey as a part of your family, please fill out an application on AAP’s website.

Story
Meet Todd! Todd is a 1 year old chihuahua/terrier mix, weighs 10 lbs. and is the sweetest, most loving, little guy. He would do well in a home with at least one other active and small dog (20 pounds or less), younger people (no toddlers or babies) and adults. He has a good amount of energy and likes to receive a lot of attention from his family. He also likes to play outside, therefore a fenced-in yard is a requirement. He is also learning to walk on a leash and would enjoy a daily walk to do his business. He sleeps in a large crate at night, but loves to be out and about during the day. He loves, loves, loves to sit in your lap and give kisses. He likes to vocalize his enthusiasm, and probably wouldn’t be the best candidate for apartment living. He has completed his checkup with the vet, and is ready to find his new family. He does have crystals in his urine, which are being monitored, and needs to have prescription food. Todd is neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. He’s also microchipped and dewormed. Todd’s adoption fee is $350. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS. If you're looking for a very sweet and lovable little fella to join your family, please fill out an application on AAP’s website.

Story
Hi, I’m Tango! I’m an 8 year old Terrier mix, weigh 12 lbs, and am a quiet little guy. My owner passed away, so I’m just staying to myself, trying to make sense of everything. I crave attention and love, and really like it when my foster mom sits and talks to me and loves on me, but I’m not really much of a lapdog. If I’m in her lap, it’s only for a brief moment and then I’m gone again. I sleep in a large crate at night, with lots of blankets and stuffed animals. I snuggle in and sleep quietly through the night. I’m enjoying chewing on bully sticks and other chewies, and playing with toys that make noise or have squeakers in them. I do like to go outside, and foster mom says that I’m a “work in progress” with my potty training. I get along well with other dogs (small dogs 20 lbs. or less), and would do well in a home with or without doggies. I do tend to vocalize quite loudly when playing, and might not do well in an apartment setting. I would do well in a home with younger people (no toddlers or babies) and adults. I would enjoy walks, and as long as I’m walked frequently and monitored on a leash, I do not require a fence. Please don’t leave me unsupervised outside; I would want your attention all the time. Since my owner passed away, I need someone who is going to re-teach me some of the rules about going potty, learning to snuggle with the family, you know…all that stuff. Tango is neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations, is heartworm negative and on heartworm preventative. He’s had a dental, is microchipped and dewormed. Tango’s adoption fee is $300. WE DO NOT ACCEPT PERSONAL CHECKS. Out of state adopters are responsible for arranging transport. WE DO NOT SHIP DOGS. If you're looking for a very sweet and lovable little guy to join your family, please fill out an application on AAP’s website.

Story
Gracie is a beautiful 3-year-old Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix. Gracie is looking for a very special home. She did not get the best start in life and never had the opportunity to learn that people can be kind and life can be fun. She is incredibly sweet but very shy and nervous about new things. She will jump up on the couch to join her person for pets and affection and will put her paws up on your leg to request to be picked up. However, she prefers to be the one to initiate these interactions at this time. Gracie will use a potty pad and is working on going potty outside when taken. She is being introduced to leash walking and toys (we don’t think she ever had a toy before). Gracie is looking for a quiet adult only home with someone who is patient that will give her space and time to become comfortable and confident. She would be ok with another low energy dog in the house as well. We are confident that given time, Gracie’s beautiful soul will absolutely shine. Gracie is spayed, up to date on all vaccines, heart worm negative and on heartworm preventative, de-wormed, and microchipped. Gracie’s adoption fee is $350.00. Story
Sweet Finn is a 9-years- young cairn terrier/poodle mix. Finn benefits from some warm up time when meeting new people, but is quick to become your best buddy especially if you play fetch with him. Finn is an active guy who loves to play and he also is a fantastic snuggle buddy and very much enjoys lap time. Finn has done well riding in a car, but can be a bit of a backseat driver as he will vocalize his opinion when looking out the window at stop signs and red lights. Finn does need work with leash walking as he tends to pull. Finn would do best in a home with adults and older children with dog experience. Finn would do well as a solo dog, but would be ok with another older laid back dog who is respectful of his personal space. Finn does require a fenced yard as he highly enjoys the thrill of running in a safe open space that he can explore. Finn is neutered, up to date on all vaccines, heart worm negative and on heartworm preventative, had a dental, de-wormed, and microchipped. Finn’s adoption fee is $250.00. Story
My name is Johnnie. I am a four-months old and adorable. I’m pretty small and the world is pretty big and I’m still trying to figure everything out. I am very much a puppy and am learning about what is ok to investigate and play with (i.e. toys) and what is not (i.e. tissue paper). This potty training thing is coming along but is not perfect. Since I’m still a puppy, I can’t hold my potty all day if the humans are gone for work. I do pretty well sleeping in a crate at night, but I sometimes may fuss a little. I am a fan of other small dogs (less than 15 pounds) and I would really love to have a dog playmate who likes to play chase with me. I have met a cat and did well. I really don’t know about this leash thing and taking a walk yet. Let’s just say this is an area I need to work on as I much prefer to be carried during the walk when foster mama takes me for a stroll with the other dogs. Since I don’t have this leash thing down, a secure (no gaps at all because I can squeeze through small spaces) fenced yard is preferred for me. I would love to have a family where the people are home more often than not and one who will take me with them on adventures when they can. I would be ok in a home with older children (12 and up) with dog experience. Johnnie is spayed, up to date on vaccines, on heartworm preventative, de-wormed, and microchipped. Johnnie’s adoption fee is $400.00. Please go to our website aaprescue.org to learn about our adoption process
