Story
I’ve had my son Zeus since he was 5 weeks old. During college my parents took amazing care of him for me . After college I now I work a lot of hours as a nurse and I don’t have the time I use to have to give him full care and love he alway deserved. He’s an amazing ! Dog . He grew up with 4 cats and around children of all ages. He’s the most loving friendly patient pitpull. He’s never bitten a human or any other animal. Never had a dog fight . Health is perfect. He’s never been neutered because I wanted to give him the opportunity to mate which he hasn’t yet. I seriously wish I could keep him but he deserves more than what my job is allowing me to do at this time and I know he will be a blessing to any family. I rather him not go to a shelter because he’s just so amazing and loving and I’d like to know where or who can love and care for him like I always have.

Story
Cody is a Yorkshire Terrier/Poodle mix, weighing about 9 lbs. He is fully vetted including 3-year rabies, distemper, and Lyme and is on preventives. Cody is a very young 10 year old who acts half his age. He prefers to be the only dog in the home so he can have all the attention possible, but he gets along fine with other dogs and cats. He will need someone to be home most of the time. He loves to go for walks and is excellent on a leash. CODY NEEDS A SINGLE-FEMALE HOME WITH A FENCED YARD. He would not do well in an apartment. He is ready for a good lap to cuddle on. He is a very loving little guy and wants nothing more than to share his life with someone who has the time to be his buddy. He needs someone he can tell all his secrets to. If you’re a mature person who would like a buddy to take walks with and cuddles on the couch Cody is the guy for you. If you’re interested in adopting Cody, please visit our site gertiessmalldogrescue.org to submit an application. Story
Are you ready to add the most unique pup to your family? Marshall is well-behaved, loving, playful and all-around irresistible. He is 8 months old and weighs 25 pounds. This endearing dog plays well with the other dogs in his foster home but doesn’t miss a chance to give his humans a cuddle. He has charmed a Troop of Girl Scouts easily and was a perfect gentleman while doing so. He will need a fenced yard in his new home. Another dog to play with would be a plus BUT not a deal breaker as long as his new Mom/Dad has a way to keep him engaged. Marshall is a very special boy and will need a very special forever home. School-aged children would find Marshall to be an amazing companion if the child has been taught respect for animals. Marshall has the discernment to know he can rough-house with a dog his size but is incredibly gentle with small puppies. Marshall is house-trained to a doggie-door. He would need time to learn your system. Marshall is up to date with all his vetting. He is neutered, microchipped and on preventives. If you have questions about Marshall, please contact his foster Mom Linda pooch@twcny.rr.com if you would like to adopt Marshall, please visit our site www.gertiessmalldogrescue.org to submit an application

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Meet the "O" Litter! Oxford, 4 months (estimated DOB February 2024), male, Shepherd/Retriever mix, estimated to be a large size when full grown. He is in a foster home in Houston, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. Oxford and his siblings were born at a county shelter in rural Texas. A kind foster took them all home. We included a picture of mom for a point of reference, but we are not really sure all the breeds that make up this sweet pup. He is one of four boys in this litter. He is very sweet, loves cuddles and affection. He is not fully housebroken but is crated at night and does well. He shares a home with cats, dogs and kids (ages 5-18). We would prefer to see him in a home with another well balanced dog who can continue to mentor, socialize and teach healthy skills. We always recommend a home with kids who respect and understand animal boundaries. Oxford is looking for a home who has an understanding of raising puppies into adult hood. This can be prior experience or someone who will seek support as needed (training, friends/family). Puppies bring so much joy, but also need intentional and committed attention. They need help socializing with new people, other dogs, leash work and basic obedience. Puppies under 6 months of age are placed on a spay/neuter contract until they are old enough to be altered. For puppies this age, someone needs to be home more than they are away as crating them for long periods of time is not conducive for their developmental needs. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt him? Story
Our dog’s name is Maizy. She is a pure bread Beagle. Would do best with a couple who does not have children or other pets. She loves to roam and sniff, and would need a lot of exercise. She is a temperamental dog who has bitten my husband and I a few times. She is an anxious dog, but very smart and aware. We are unsure of why her outbursts cause her to bite from time to time, because she is generally a calm and friendly dog. We have two young children and are no longer able to keep her around our toddlers or give her the appropriate attention she needs.
